William Reisner

Uncle Will

From the letters of Mary2 Alice Carey, we know that William Reisner (spelling uncertain) was a busy sort of man, working on many projects in the growing west. It is also certain that at some point in time he married Mary1 Alice Carey, and was residing in the vicinity of Colorado Springs, Colorado. We know almost nothing else. I am interested both in his ancestry and in locating his descendents.

We also know that he knew something of woodworking. All of the items in this picture were of his manufacture. The footstool on the left is of the same type as one belonging to Dorothy3 Mae Brader Dickman (my mother), and may in fact be the same one. Mom is of the impression that it was made by William2 Lafayette Carey (her mother's brother), but both of her sisters believe it to be one made by this "Uncle Will" -- their mother's uncle. There is an inscription on the bottom of it: TO IRENE FROM UNCLE WILL MATT 5:8

I do not know where the photograph above was taken, but it had the following inscribed on the back by (Mary3) Alice Brader Walters in the 1970s:

Grandpa Carey's sister's husband (1931) Will Reisner. Married to Mary1 Alice Carey, Sister of Thomas1 David Carey, father of Irene2 Irving Carey Brader.

Please feel free to tell me anything that you feel may be help in learning more about this shirttail relation.

1,2,3 - The superscripts are to designate generations; there are just too many Mary Alices involved here for it to be simple to keep track of them. 1 is Thomas David Stout Carey's generation, 2 his children, etc. I 4 hope it helps!
