ATLANTIC LINES
Tips for ship's names:
Cunard Line ships often had suffix "-ia". :WhiteStar Line often "-ic".
Cunard Line (founded in England with government support by Samuel Cunard from Halifax, Canada, 1839). Opened the line Liverpool - New York / Boston in 1847. Sören Sörensen opened the first office in Göteborg in 1868 and continued until 1874. 1875-96: C Berglund.
Famous ships: Britannia (1840), Servia (1881), Campania (1893), Carpathia (1903), Carmania (195), Mauretania (1907), Franconia (1911), Aquitania (1914), Queen Elizabeth (1940)
White Star Line based in Göteborg (see C.W.Hällström) was the major competitor from 1872-1905. Stopped operations in 1933. (Shaw, Savill & Albion Line took over Atlantic operations)

Svenska Amerika Linjen (Swedish America Line) took over all traffic after 1915, (German lines were stopped by WW I). Göteborg - New York. Ceased 1975. Ships: Drottningholm, Gripsholm, Kungsholm, Stockholm (sank Andrea Doria in 1956) 
(My farfar tuned all the pianos on those ships abt 1950-60)
FEEDER LINES
Shaw, Savill & Albion Line English / Scottish company est 1858. Until 1933 joint service to NZ with White Star Line. 1932-71: Liverpool-Australia
DFDS Danish company founded in 1866. Took over Thingvalla Line in 1898. Transformed into Scandinavia-America Line (not same as Swedish America Line). Operated feeder lines, e.g. Stettin, Köpenhamn, Malmö, Helsingborg to England. Still operating.
Wilson Feeder lines from Sweden and Norway. Associated with Inman Line for Atlantic passage. 1822-1978
Famous ships: Albion, Angelo, Ariosto, Hero, Orlando, Rollo
Other Feeder lines from Germany, Denmark and Norway.

Sören Sörensen
Cunard Line Göteborg General Agency from the beginning in 1868.
Addresses: Postgatan 58, Göteborg; Skeppsbron 18, Stockholm; Norra Strandgatan 14, Helsingborg; Norra Wallgatan 58, Malmo; Passagerareafdelningen, Kongens Nytorv. Köpenhamn K. Known after 1903 at least.
Charles August Berglund (Karl August B)
Born in Tysslinge parish, Örebro län. Emigrated to Boston, USA in 1870. Associated with the employment agency "The Industrial Aid Society" in Boston. He moved back to Sweden and took over the Cunard Line Göteborg General Agency after Sören Sörensen. Office address: Sillgatan 44. He left the agency in 1896 and moved to Stockholm.
He also combined this with an employment agency mainly recruiting young women for household jobs in the Boston region.
He handled over 58 000 contracts in the 1880's.

Agent and Line operator: "Vita Stjärnan" (White Star Line) 1872 - 1905. Office address from abt 1885: Sillgatan 34/Götgatan 8, Göteborg and in Stockholm, Malmö and Helsingborg. Had at least 52 000 passengers in the 1880's. Also traffic from Malmö
