This was the southern half of Älvsborgs län (P) and all of Skaraborgs län (R) (counties) until 1998. Today it is part of Västra Götalands län. It is located south of lake Vänern. A flat country, except for part of the lake Vänern coastline (Kinnekulle). Abbr.: Vg
Residential cities: (until 1998): Vänersborg /P län and Skara /R län. Area: 17 617 sqkm. Pop: 1,1 mill (1981).
