Västmanland is the northern half of Örebro län (T) and all of Västmanlands län (U) (counties). It is located north of lake Mälaren. Part of Bergslagen - the major mining and iron processing region in middle Sweden. Area: 8 963 sqkm. Pop: 290 368 (1981)
