Sooy Smith leaving convalescents, sick, and all baggage and property at Nashville, Tenn. Arrived at Columbia Dec. 30/63, marched 54 miles.

Field & Staff Muster Roll On June 18th the Regt. was ordered to march from Nashville, TN to Decatur, AL. Arrived at Decatur June 25/64. Distance marched 122 miles. On 29th of June the regiment was out on a reconnaisance to Sand Spring 18 miles below Decatur.
Record of Events The effective portion of the regiment left Decatur, Ala 10 July 1864 under the command of Maj. Gen. Rousseau and marched via Ashville and Talladega to Loachapoka on the Montgomery & Nashville Railroad, had two skirmishes with the Rebels and assisted in destroying 30 miles of railroad. We marched via Lafayette, Ala & Carrolton, GA arriving at Marietta, GA July 22. July 26th was ordered on a raid under command of Brig. Gen. McCook, crossed the Chattahoochie River and marched to Palmetto on the Macon R-road 23 miles south of Atlanta. Assisted in destroying the railroad and on our return were attacked by a large force of rebels near Newman, GA and after a severe battle were forced to retreat, leaving our dead & wounded on the field. When the command reached the Chattahoochie River our regiment was in the rear and the Rebels were pressing us so closely that we were compelleged to abandon our horses, there being nothing to cross on but our Ferryboat, thus we lost the most of our horses and horse equipment and over one hundred men and officers. We reached Marietta by Aug. 4 and were ordered to return to Decatur by rail. We arrived in Decatur Aug. 13/64. Whole number of miles marched 750 and traveled by rail 250.

Record of Events During the time for which this muster is made, the Regt. has marched from Nashville to Franklin, TN and back to Nashville again, thence to Gallatin and returned. Thence in pursuit of the enemy to Waterloo, Ala when Hood returned from Nashville. The distance marched in all is about 316 miles.
The regiment was in three engagements while in pursuit of the enemy from Nashville, viz.; near Nashville on the Granny White Pike (Dec. 16) and Franklin Dec. 18, and at Sugar Creek Dec. 26. They were also in a heavy skirmish at Pulaski, Tenn. Whole loss 34 killed & wounded.
