Roane County Heritage Commission Library

The Roane County Heritage Commission owns and operates the historic old Roane County Courthouse.  In addition to a museum dedicated to the history of the region, the old Roane County Courthouse also holds the largest genealogical collection of books and manuscripts in Roane County as well as the Roane County Archives.

Our members supply much-needed support to the library staff  by volunteering on a regular basis to assist in library duties such as filing and maintaining various special collections such as obituary files and family files.  Our volunteer members are available to help genealogical researchers who visit the library researching their ancestors.

We also purchase and donate books of genealogical and historical importance that help researchers locate and document their ancestors, especially Revolutionary War ancestors.
