Last Rites October 24 for Mrs. Belle Lester
 
Mrs. Belle Lester, age 93 years, 6 months, and 6 days, passed away Thursday October 22 at a house in Danville, Kentucky. Mrs. Lester, formerly of Jellico, was making her name at the time of her death at the home of her son, William Lester and wife at Pound, Virginia.
She was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church and was a resident of Jellico for many years.
Survivors; two daughters Mrs. Mary Richmond of Kinsport, Tn and Mrs. Cora Collier, Payne Gap, Virginia; four sons William Lester, Pund, Va. Albert Lester, Detriot, Michigan, Fred Lester Crossville, Tn., Burch Lester of Dorton, Kentucky and a number of grand children, and great grand children and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Ellisons Funeral Chapel in Jellico on Saturday October 24 at 3:30 p.m. Rev. Elmer Elliott of Corbin conducted the services. A short services was held at Pound on Friday October 23.
Pall bearers; L.A. Campbell, Guss Wirtz, Jess Dunaway, Elmore Branum, Rev. George Ivey, Francis Harp, Burial was in Newcomb Cemetery. Ellisons. Jellico in charge.

Rev. Herbert W. Heatherly
Willow Brook Baptist Church
 
Rev. Herbert W. Heatherly was born in Lake City Tennessee on May 28, 1929
The young minister professed faith in Christ when he was fourteen years of age and has been active in church since that time. He was ordained into the ministry in 1949 at the Island Ford Baptist Church, where he became pastor a few years later.
Rev. Heatherly attended Lake City High School and a number of the Carson Newman College off campus extension classes.
In June of 1946 Rev. Heatherly was married to the former Miss Avenell Foust. They are now the parents of four children- Sammy, Mary Ellen, Maxine and Christine,
At the present time Rev. Heatherly is pastor of the Willow Brook Baptist Church where he has organized a Training Union. He extends a warm invitation to come and worship at Willow Brook.

Mr. and Mrs. Leon Martin are parents of a son born last week at Oak Ridge Hospital... the Junior Whitaker family of Nashville visited Mr and Mrs. Lonzo Eldridge over the week end... visiting Mrs. Edith Gaylor and family Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Glen Johnson and children of Corryton... visitors of the U. S. Shetterlys Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Leland Fritts of Lafollette... other visitors of the Shetterlys were Miss Maude Johnson of Lake City--Miss Nora Fay Taylor of Briceville...Rev. T.R. Douglass brought the message Sunday morning at Oak Grove Baptist Church... A Stanley party was given at the home of Mrs. Dora Shetterly Monday night... bye, bye, see you next week... Troy

Mr. and Mrs. Grover Paul, Howard Paul and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Paul left Firday for a visit with Grovers son and family. Staff Sargeant D.H. Paul, in Sumter South Carolina.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Paul attended the funeral of Rev. John Paul of Jacksboro, Sunday.
 
Earnest Siler has been in Middlesboro Hospital for a check up.
 
Mrs. Ray Love of Williamsburg has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stokes last week.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Powell of Indianapolis were week end guests of Mrs. Powells parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ancil Lambdin.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Archer and Eddie have gone to Clinton to visit his sister.

Tom Fritts returned to College Park Georgia after spending a short time visiting his sisters Mrs.  Laura Bell Harmon and Mrs. W. H. Harmon and Mr. Harmon and other relatives in the community.

Elmer Isabell recently returned home from Cleveland Ohio where he has been visiting Mrs. Isabells sister, Mrs. Charlene Carpenter and family the past month and seeking employment.

John York of Duff was the guest last week of Mr. and Mrs. Code Duff and family.

Mr. and Mrs. Troy Morgan are the parents of a daughter, born February 25 at Lafollette Community Hospital.

 

Shirley Tackett was honored with a household shower Saturday night, December 20 at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Tackett. Hostesses were Mickey Smith and Sharon Adkins. Forty guests were present. She recieved many nice gifts.

 

Has 13th Birthday
Mrs. Anna Lee Isabell honored her daughter Brenda Sue with a party at her home on Monday February 22 celebrating her 13th birthday. Seventeen guests were present.
