Olivers Man's Brother Dies
A Coalfield man with a brother in Oliver Springs,Welch(Blue)Jackson,75,died Sunday morning in  Oak Ridge Hospital after a brief illness.Jackson was the brother of Wade Jackson of Oliver Springs. He was a former miner who owned a mining operation in the area and also was an active sportman and Mason. Jackson was a member of the Middle Creek Baptist Church and was president of the Coalfield Senior Citizens Club.He was a charter member of the Tri-County Sportmans Club.Besides his brother,Jackson is survived by his wife,   Mrs. Irene Wormsley Jackson, daughter,Naomi Ruth Daugherty of Coalfield,three sons,Donald W.Jackson of Oak Ridge, Jackie A. and Jerry L.Jackson both of Coalfield,13 grandchildren,10 great-grandchildren and one other brother, Rev.Dewey Jackson of Knoxville.Funeral services were held Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev.Lloyd Napier officiating.Burial was in Estes Cemetery in Coalfield on Wednesday.


June 6, 1999 

Charles Franklin Jeffries, 79, of Jacksboro, died Tuesday, June 6 at Oak Ridge Methodist Medical Center. He was a member of Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall. He was preceded in death by; wife, Dora L. Jeffries; grandsons, Thomas E. and Charles Todd Jeffries; parents, Tom and Katherine Hatmaker Jeffries; one brother; and two sisters, Survivors include; sons, Edward E. Jeffries of Tampa, Florida, James D. "Jim" Jeffries of Jacksboro, and Thomas L. "Tom" Jeffries of LaFollette; daughter, Brenda S. Larkin of Jacksboro; grandsons, James E., John S., and Edward E. Jeffries; granddaughters, Lori Jeffries, Peggy Steffen, and Vickie Borne; ten great-grandchildren; one niece; two nephews; special friend, Grace Costanzo of Jacksboro; and a host of friends and relatives. Funeral services were held Friday, June 9 at Martin Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J. T. Asbury officiating. Interment followed in Campbell Memorial Gardens.

Dudley L. (Doug) Jenkins, 65, of Lake City, died Tuesday at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.  He was a North Carolina native. His parents were the late Sam and Josephine Jenkins.  A daughter, Janet Jenkins, also preceded him in death. Mr. Jenkins, a retired machinist, had worked at the Y-12 Plant of Union Carbide. He was of the Baptist faith and was an active
Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Susie Miller Jenkins of Lake City; sons and daughters-in-law, J.C. and Kathy Jenkins of Lake City; Michael and Mary Jenkins of Oak Ridge; Darrell and Ann Jenkins of Lake City; sons, Bob Jenkins and Harold Dean (Doll) Jenkins, both of Lake City; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Tony Ault of Lake City and Betty and Steve White of Clinton; one sister, Almeda Larivee of Lake City; a brother, Ernest Jenkins of Lake City and 13 grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Cox Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. David Walker and the Rev. George Miller officiating.  Burial will be at Leach Cemetery. Grandsons will be pallbearers.  The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mary O. Johnson, 69, Knoxville, died Friday, October 24, 2003 at the UT Medical Center of Knoxville. She was born July 24, 1934 in Anderson County. Mary enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and listening to country music. She was of the Baptist faith. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Myrtle Fritts Isabel; husbands, Clyde Braden and Clyde Hayes; brother, Condy Isabell; sisters, Pearl Daugherty, Marie Tackett and Bonnie Smith. She is survived by her husband, Elmer Johnson, Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Louise Braden, Clinton, Randel and Denise Hayes, Knoxville; daughters and son-in-laws, Violet and Tommy Gaines, Georgia, Pam and Joe Kassari, Knoxville, Tammy and Junior Stevens, Philadelphia; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Thelma Kimerblin, Christin Isabell, both of LaFollette, Louise Melton, Lake City, Sharlet Phillips, LaFollette, Stella Doll, Lake City; brother, C.L. Sonny Isabell, Caryville, Lonnie Isabell, LaFollette and a host of many friends and loved ones. Visitation was Sunday, October 26 at the Hatmaker Funeral Home. Funeral services were Monday, October 27 at the Hatmaker Chapel with Reverends Tom Byrge and George Miller officiating. Interment followed at the Beech Grove Cemetery, Lake City. Hatmaker Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Elizabeth Ann Jones, 12, of Rt. 4, LaFollette died at 8:2- a.m. Thursday at LaFollette Community Hospital.
She is survived by one sister, Diana Jones, Mother, Mrs. Mary Jones, and Grandmother, Mrs. Nancy Jones all of LaFollette. Funeral services were held at 2p.m. Saturday at Roach Mortuary Chapel by the Rev. Hudon Overbay. Burial was in Kitts Cemetery. Roach Mortuary of LaFollette was in charge of Arrangements.

Lafayette Jones
J.L. Jones was born October 3, 1862 in Whitley County, Kentucky, died January 26, 1933. He was married to Mary Hampton March 8, 1891. To this union seven children were born, five of which survive.  They are Mrs. Joe Nelson of LaFollette, Mrs. W.S. Ridenour of Lovston, Walter Jones of Sapulpa Okla., Herman Jones who lives at home, and Mrs. Chas. Braden of Fincastle.
Funeral services conducted by Rev. Ballard and Rev. W.A. Sharp.

Matt Jones, 69, of Jellico formerly of Pruden, died at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Dayton Ohio February 28 at 5 a.m.  He is survived by three daughters Mrs. Lillie Mae Davis of Dayton Ohio Mrs. Jean McCullough of Frakes Ky. and Mrs. Copeland Wilde of Jellico; 11 grandchildren and eight great grand children Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Crouches Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Ralph Leach Burial was in Pruden Cemetery. Ellison Funeral Home, Jellico was in charge of arrangements.

James "Jim" M. Jordan, age 81 of Webster Springs, WV, formerly of Jacksboro died Aug. 25 at his home. He enjoyed working in the garden. He was Methodist by faith and a member of the Barton United Methodist Church. He was a member of the UMWA, the VFW 3738 and served in the U.S. Army as a Pvt. 1st class. During his time in the service he received a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart in Oct. 1944 and another in March 1945He was preceded in death by his father, Emmett Jordan; mother, Rose Robinson Jordan; brother, John Jordan; sister, Elizabeth Jordan; nephew, Jimmy Jordan; niece, Jackie Schrom. He is survived by his son, Steve and wife, Joyce Jordan of Webster Springs, WV, James II and wife, Deborah Jean Jordan of Sutton, WV; grandson, Todd Jordan of Charleston, WV, granddaughter, Jimmie Beth Jordan Swain; sisters, Mary Lou Schrom of Royal Oak, MI, Nora Jane Jordan of Detroit, MI, Charlotte Shadrick of Jacksboro, Sue Moses of Knoxville. Funeral services were Aug. 28 at the Dodd and Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Bennie Cowger officiating. Interment was in the W V Memorial Gardens. Dodd and Reed Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
