Mary Ellen McBirney, - age 83, of LaFollette, passed away
Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville. She was a member of
Gintillie Methodist Church in New Orleans, LA. She was a 1st Lt. in the Army
Nurse Corps during WWII and retired as a Registered Nurse. Preceded in death by
parents, Jim Ette & Elizabeth Smith Miller; brother, James Miller &
sisters, Beulah Miller & Flossie Hackworth. Survivors: brothers &
sisters-in-law: Albert & Sue Miller, LaFollette, Robert & Margaret
Miller, Texas, Christine Miller, Glen Burnie, MD; several nieces, nephews &
cousins. At her request, her body was cremated and a memorial service will be
held at a later date. Arrangements by Cross Funeral Home.

Christine L. McClellan, 77, of Kettering, died, Saturday, Feb. 2,
at the Greene Memorial Hospital. She was a devout Christian. She is
preceded in death by her husband James A. McClellan. She is survived by daughter
Barb Daniels of Tipp City; sons Jim McClellan of Adrian, Mich. and Ron
McClellan of LaFollette; sister Phyllis Holmes of Dayton; and grandchildren and
four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at the
Tobias Funeral Home in Dayton. Interment was held in the Memorial Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in her

Billy Ray McCreary, - age 65, of Jacksboro, TN., died Monday,
October 25, 2004 at Baptist West Medical Center. He had retired from the US Army
as a Sergeant First Class with over 20 years of service, having last served with
the Military Police Training School. He was preceded in death by his father,
Robert J. McCreary and brother, Chester "Buddy" McCreary. Billy Ray is survived
by his loving wife of 46 years, Imogene Hicks McCreary of Jacksboro; daughters
and son in law, Sherry McCreary, Suzette and Joe Russell all of Knoxville; son
and daughter in law, Tim and Sandra McCreary of Auburn, GA; special grandson,
J.T. Russell of Knoxville; Mother, Evelyn McCreary of Lafollette; brother and
sister in law, Robert E. and Dorothy McCreary of Sumter, SC; sister and brother
in law, Helen and R.L. Ayers of LaFollette; several nieces and nephews. The
family and friends will meet at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery 1:30 p.m. Thursday
for a graveside service with Full Military Honors by Volunteer State Veterans

Don McCullah, 61, of Dry Ridge, Kentucky died November 30th, 2002
at Dry Ridge Personal Care.He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and
Dorothy McCullah; brothers, Matt and Roy McCullah.Mr. McCullah is survived by

Elsie Hatmaker McCulley, age 88, of Lafollette, passed away
Friday, January 5, 2001, at Sunbridge Health Care Center. Preceded in death by
parents; Levi & Sarah Day Hatmaker, brother; Henry Hatmaker, sisters Nellie
Hatmaker & Minnie Tokacs & 1 infant son. She was a member of East
Lafollette Baptist Church. Employee of Blue Ridge Manufacturing for 27 years.

Kidney disease takes Pat McCulley
March 6 1972
Mrs. Patricia Louise (Pat) McCulley, 25, of Jacksboro died Monday
morning at Vanderbuilt Hospital in Nashville. Mrs. McCulley contracted chronic
nephritis and had been undergoing treatment for the kidney disease since early
this year. She had only one percent use of her kidneys. Her husband, David, had
taken a leave of abscence from his job at the Braden McCulley Gulf Station to be
with his wifeand to learn her to operate the kidney machine which she had to use
twice a week. A Pat McCulley fund has been started by Lafollette radio station
WLAF to help the couple defray the tremendous hospital expences incurred. "About
$11,500 was put in the First State Bank of Jacksboro through us and other
people," said WLAF Manager Elmer Longmire. "It's untelling how many people
gave-- hundreds and hundreds. 'They gave from every walk of life---churches,
civic groups, and just people off the street. "People really responded to that,"
he said Mrs. McCulley was a member of Jacksboro First Baptist Church. In
addition to her husband, David, she is survived by her daughter, Lisa, who is
five; her parents Mr. and Mrs. Denton Rector of Jacksboro her grandparents Mr.
and Mrs. R. L. Foster of Lake Ciyt and Henry Burrell both of Jacksboro.
Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. at
Jacksboro First Baptist Church by the Rev. C. H. Robinson. Burial will be in
Campbell Memerial Gardens. Martin's Funeral Home, Lafollette, was in charge of
arrangements.

James McGhee, age 77 of Jellico died Nov. 12 at the Beech Tree
Manor in Jellico. He was born March 13, 1927 at Corbin, KY, the son of the late
James and Stella Cook McGhee. He is survived by his sisters, Stella Smalling of
Medford, NY, Ethel Housch of Deposit, NY; brothers, Frank Rooney, Rommy Rooney,
both of Cincinnati, OH, Michael Rooney of Long Island, NY; Graveside services
were Nov. 15 in the Douglas Cemetery with Rev. John Richardson officiating.
Interment was in the Douglas Cemetery. Cox and Son Funeral Home was in charge of

Ralph A. McGhee, 73, of Coalfield, died Tuesday, Jan 29,2002, at
Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born may 15, 1928, in
Campbell-Co and lived in Coalfield since 1949. Mr CmGhee was a
retired coal miner who had worked at area mines for 22 yrs. He lasted worked at
Consolidated Coal Co., and was a member of the United mine Works of America and
the the Black Diamond Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of Petos Baptist
Church . Mr. McGhee is survivied by his wife of 49 yrs. Hannah L. McGhee; two
sons, Michael George McGhee and his wife, Jorce, and David Wayne McGhee and his
wife, Sherrie Annette, all of Coalfield; and three grandchildren, Amanda
Michelle McGhee, Michael Allen McGhee and Margaret Elizabeth McGhee. Mr.
McGhee is also survivied by two brothers, Carl McGhee and his wife, Ester, of
Coalfield, and Garlis McGhee and his wife, Ethel, of the Batley Community of
Anderson County; three sisters, Frances Kennedy of Lake City, Beatrice Sharp of
Bowling Green, Ky., Lissie Styles of Oak Ridge; three sisters-in-law, Agnes
Justice of Oliver Springs, Fae L. Crass of Concord, N.C., and Julia Lowe of
Clinton; and several nieces and nephews. Mr McGhee was precedd in death by his
parents, Brass F. and Margaret Patterson McGhee; two brothers, Bailey McGhee and
Caleb McGhee and four sisters, Dephia Kennedy, Dora Byrge, Nancy Cross and
Biddie McGhee. The funeral will be held at 8:30 tonight, Jan.30, in the
chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs. The Rev. Jim West and the Rev.
Tommy Hensley will officiate. A gravside service will be conducted at 1 a.m.
Thursday, Jan 31, at Estes Cemt. of
Coalfield.
Clarence McNeeley, age 73 of LaFollette died Oct. 4 in Tifton,
GA. He was a member of the Long Hollow Baptist Church. He was member of the DAV.
He served in the Korean Conflict. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great
grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also was
known as the log cabin man who built miniature replica log cabins and old
home places. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Geneva Orick; parents,
John Calvin and Amanda Miller McNeeley; brothers, Boyd, Albert and Emerson
McNeeley; sister, Druzella McNeeley. He is survived by his son and
daughter-in-law, Bryan and Becky McNeeley of LaFollette; daughter and
son-in-law, Kathy and Pat Bunch of Lakeland, FL; four grandchildren and three
great grandchildren; sister: Juanita Watson of Oliver Springs; several nieces
and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral Services were Oct.
9 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Maxwell and Rev.
Mike Smith officiating. Interment was in Bakers Forge Cemetery with the Campbell
County Honor Guard in charge of graveside services. Martin Wilson Funeral Home

James Delmon McNeeley, - age 83, of LaFollette, departed for his
Heavenly Home Friday October 29, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital Knoxville after a
brief hospitalization. Member of West LaFollette Baptist Church ant the longest
surviving dialysis patient (9 years) of LaFollette Dialysis Center. He will be
remembered by friends and family as a man who always brought laughter with his
sense of humor, warmth with his east-going style; and his desire to help others
whenever he could. He also served as Trustee for Bakers Forge Cemetery, where he
helped raise funds for perpetual care. Raised in a family of 14 children, he was
the last surviving son of Bell and Hugh McNeeley, who proceeded him to Heaven as
well as sisters; Myrtle Brown, Georgia Ballard, Ida Robbins, Estelle White,
Edna Brown & Nina Petry, brothers; Earl, Willard (Bill) & Edgbert
McNeeley. Also preceding in death: wife Cecil McNeeley. He served his country
honorably during WWII and later accomplished a 9 year career in the Merchant
Marines. After returning to LaFollette, he operated the cafeteria at Imperial
Reading Factory for 19 years. Survivors: Clara Raynor - a very special friend
& devoted caretaker of 6 years & her family; daughter: Karen Sue Cooper,
Sana Anna, CA; sisters: Odessa Bowman, Monroe, MI, Nadine Brooks, Maryville,
Avanelle Wheeler, Knoxville; special brother-in- law: Kenny Wheeler;
brother-in-law: Edison Brown; step- daughter: Helen Grant ; many nieces and
nephews. Funeral: 8 p.m. Sunday Cross Chapel, Rev. Dave Gresser officiating.
Interment: 2 p.m. Monday Campbell Memorial Gardens with Military Honors by
Campbell Co. Honor Guard. The family will receive friends 6 til 8 p.m. Sunday at
Cross Funeral Home.

Rufus McNeily, age 92, died at his home on College Hill, Monday
from pneumonia. He had only been ill one week. The funeral was conducted
at the home by Rev. Joe Newport, Tuesday morning with burial at the Pond
Cemetery. He is survived by several sons and a host of
friends.

Lorena Evelyn McNeil age 90 of LaFollette, went to be with the
Lord on Sept. 25, at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a
long time member of Lake View Baptist Church in Caryville. She was preceded in
death by her husband of 68 years, Clyde McNeil; son, Donald Leon McNeil;
parents; one sister and one brother. She is survived by her daughters, Betty
Bolton and husband, Bill of Andersonville, Sammie McClellan and husband, Ed of
Knoxville, and Rena McNeil of Richmond, KY; six grandchildren and eight great
grandchildren; brother, Charles Green of Ryo, GA, special friend, Mattie
Evelyn Hightower of Ryo, GA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends. Funeral services were Sept. 27 at Walters Chapel with Rev. Delmus Bruce
and Rev. Roger Stanley officiating. Graveside services and interment were at
Pine Hill Cemetery in Corbin, KY with her nephew Rev. Maurice Lay officiating.
