Charles A. Odum, age 76 of Speedwell died Oct. 2 at his home. He was born Jan. 7, 1928 in Letcher County, KY. He was of the Baptist faith. He worked for Blue Diamond Coal Company in KY and Scott Paper Company. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and loved fishing and camping on Norris Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, Radford and Lorinda Watts Odom; sisters, Beulah Morris and Mae Back; grandson, Alex Ray Cook; son-in-laws, Stanley Hatfield and Lawrence Payne. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Thelma Hall Odom, Speedwell; son, Larry Allen Odum and wife, JoAnne Heiskell of Knoxville; daughters , Charles Ann Payne, Speedwell, Sandra Kaye and husband, Roger Young of Tazewell, Mary Darlene Kohnie, Knoxville and Patricia Eileen and husband, Jim Kelly of Oliver Springs; grandchildren, Penelope Varnell, Brandy Hatfield, Kenny Odum, Missy Corcoran, Christopher Cook, Adam Hatfield, Jason Odum, Marty Young and Tony Bull; great grandchildren, Hannah Hatfield and Emory Odum; sisters, Doris and husband, Douglas Yaden of Cumberland, KY, Deloris and husband, Arlis Thompson of Fairland, IN; a host of family and friends. Funeral services were Oct. 4 at Reece Valley Chapel with Rev. Billy Paul officiating. Graveside services were in the Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jason Corcoran, Andy Welch, Jim Kelly, Tony Bull, Larry Odum and Roger Young. Honorary Pallbearers were Edsel Rains, Martin Young, Adam Hatfield, Gary Varnell Jr., and Kenny and Jason Odum. Music was by Patricia Tarter. Reece Valley Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

Edna Farris Odom, age 86 of Palatka, Fl died May 19 at Palatka County Center after an extended illness. She was a native of LaFollette and had been a resident of Palatka for 47 years. She was an educator, having taught school for more than 30 years. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Palatka. She was preceded in death by her parents, Verlin and Effie Farris; brothers, Verlin Farris, Jr. and Leon Farris; sisters, Hortense Farris, Nora Lindsay and Wanda Jones; two infant sisters. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, William M. Odom; son, Bill Odom and daughter-in-law, Sandra Odom of Palatka; sister, Loraine Farris of LaFollette; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were May 22. Interment was in Palatka Memorial Garden.

Walter P. Orick, 74, LaFollette died Feb. 5 at the Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center.He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel H. and Nannie Mae Comer Orick; sisters, Geneva McNeely and Agnes Ford.Mr. Orick is survived by his wife, Magadlene Orick, LaFollette; son, Hugh Orick, Jacksboro; daughters, Bobbie Jean Gross, Lake City, Faye Orick, Maggie Orick both of LaFollette; Hazel Gibson, Caryville; Kathy Jessie, LaFollette; 12 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brothers, Clarence Roosevelt and Sam Orick both of LaFollette; sister, Hazel Phillips, Caryville.Funeral services were Feb. 8 at the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Reverends Don Chadwick and Allen Shepherd officiating.Interment was in Baker's Forge Cemetery with full military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard.Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
