Byrd Seiber, 59, died at his home Thursday after a short illness. He is survived by six children, five sons, Luke, Albert, William, Joe and Eldridge, one daughter, Mrs Lula Wagner, all of Laurel Grove. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Friday at Laurel Grove Baptist Church. The Rev Odas Harness and the Rev Lee Phillips officiated. Burial was in the Webb cemetery. Martin Funeral Home was in charge.

Ex-Devonia Miner Dies In Campbell

A retired miner, Clarence E. Seiber, 63 of Pioneer Rt. 2, died at 1:30 p.m.Tuesday at Lafollette Medical Center.
He was a former resident of the Devonia community. Seiber was a member of Waldens Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs.Erma Younce Seiber, five daughters, Mrs. Billy (Jean) Smith of Knoxville, Miss. Barbara Seiber of Jacksboro, Mrs. Ben (Dessie L) Ward, Miss. Carolyn Seiber, and Mrs. Jerry (Rachel) Ward, all of Pioneer Rt. 2, eight grandchildren, parents the Rev. and Mrs. George Seiber of Caryville Rt. 1, four sisters, Mrs. Naomi Byrge of Caryville, Mrs. Ethel Phillips and Mrs. Lou Phillips, both of Claxton and Mrs. Erma Goddar of Clinton, and three brothers, Condy Seiber of Caryville Rt. 1, Marshall Seiber of Lake City and Clais Seiber of Dayton, Ohio. Funeral servcies are to be held at 2 p.m.Friday at the Beech Fork Baptist Church with the Revs. Virgil Tackett and J. T. Leach officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night at Cox Funeral Home in Lake City.

The infant son of Mr. and Mrs.Elmer Seiber died early Thursday morning at the home in Lake City. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Seiber. Funeral services were held Friday at the home with burial in Circle cemetery. Martin Funeral Home in charge.

Rosedale Man Is Hit-Run Victim Left On Highway

Fred Seiber, 24, Is Dead And No Trace Of Killer Is Found.

A hit-run killer claimed another victim on Anderson countys highways last Thursday night when a speeding car struck Fred Seiber, 24, of Rosedale, and left him dead on the roadside of Coal Creek. A truck driver found the body at 10:15 p.m. and it was taken to Martin Funeral Home. Employees of the undertaker said Seiber's cap and shoes were found 200 feet from where his body lay. The body also appeared  to have been drag. Dr. J.M. Cox, county physician said Seiber died of a fractured skull, broken neck and crushed chest. The young man was last seen at the Plaza Dance hall about 9:30 p.m. When found he had a dollar bill in his pocket along a Social Security card and a picture of a baby and a young woman. The body was taken to Rosedale for services at 1 p.m. Saturday and burial was in the cemetery there. Seiber is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anna Bell Seiber of Caryville, his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Riley Seiber and sisters, Myrtle and Grace Seiber.

Trula Seiber, Age 70 of Powell, formerly of Devonia, died Sept. 14 at the Fort Sanders Parkwest Medical Center. She was born July 25, 1934 in Campbell County to the late Rosher and Tennie McKamey Burress. She was a member of the Free Communion Baptist Church in Devonia. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved quilting. She was a wonderful mother. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Martha Jane Seiber; sisters, Pearl Hood, Beulah Brown and Susie Hall.She is survived by her husband ,Pless Seiber ,Powell; sons ,James Seiber and wife Margaret, Lake City ,P.J. Seiber and wife Anita, Jacksboro, John Seiber and wife Pat, Claxton; daughter, Sharon Gaylor and husband Steve, Claxton; brother, Abe Burress, Coalfield; grandchildren, Angel Phillips, Jamie Seiber, April Coward, Derek Gaylor ,Jennifer Seiber, Kevin Gaylor and Derek Seiber, great grandchildren, Patience Seiber, Patrick Seiber, Faith Phillips, Eddie Coward,
Daymon Seiber and Hope Phillips.Funeral Services were Sept. 17 at the Free Communion Baptist Church with Rev. John Seiber and Rev. Paul Burress officiating. Interment was in the Seiber Family Cemetery. Hatmaker Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Roscoe Sharp, 79, died Monday at Lafollette Nursing Home. Survivors include two sisters Maudie Sharp and Vernie Meredith both of Route 1 Pioneer two brothers Isham Sharp and Foister Sharp both of Route 1 Pioneer four nieces and four nephews and a host of friends. Graveside services were held at Meredith Cemetery Wednesday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Clifford Russell Burial was in Meredith Cemetery. Walters Funeral Home Lafollette was in charge of arrangements.

Funeral Services for Zenas Sharp, 77 of Cookeville will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, from the chapel of Cookeville Funeral Home. Burial will be in West Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. today, Friday, July 23, 2004 at the funeral home. Mr. Sharp died on Thursday, July 22, 2004, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center.He was born on Nov. 25, 1926 in Campbell County, in the Elk Valley Community, to the late Rev. Will Sharp and Hannah Baird Sharp.He was a construction worker an was employed by City Machine and Tool of Toledo, Ohio. Mr. Sharp was a veteran of World War II, and a member of Praise Cathedral Church of God.
His family includes his wife of 37 years, Peggy Sue Sharp of Cookeville; a daughter Kathy and Jack Chasteen of Toledo; a son and daughter in law, James R. (Jim) and Melanie Sharp of Columbia, S. C.; four sisters, Lousie Smith of Cookeville, Betty Haynes and Wanda Sharp both of Toledo;and Edna Sharp of Galveston, Texas; a brother Charles (Chuck)Sharp of Toledo; three grandsons, Todd Dobes of Toledo, Robert and Sherry Sharp of Gurney, Illinois, and Justin Sharp of Columbia, S. C; and a great-granddaughter Felicia Dobes of Toledo.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister.Bros. Kenneth Stephens, L. C.Buttery and Eldon Cupp will officiate.

Gladys Marie Sheckles, - age 90 of LaFollette, went home to be with the Lord while being surrounded by her son Monroe, granddaughter Carolyn and great granddaughter Chesni on Saturday September 18, 2004 at the St. Mary's Health and Rehab. She was member of Mount Paron Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, and reading. She is preceded in death by: husband, Curtis Sheckles; son, Fred Sheckles; and infant son; great grandchild, Bailey Ivey; parents, Jim and Isabelle Lawson Smith; brother; Clyde Smith; sisters, Maye Albright and Juanita Savage. Mrs. Sheckles is survived by: son and very special daughter; Monroe and wife, Dean Sheckles; grandchildren, Vickie Queener and late husband Dan, Carolyn Aldridge and husband Gary, Danny Sheckles and wife Shelia, Angie Adcock and husband Junior all of LaFollette; geat grandchildren, Ray Ivey and wife Amy, Chesni Tiller, Travis Forsyth and wife Carrie, Justin Aldridge and wife Carrie, April Baird and husband Bill, and Matt Forsyth; 2 very special great great granddaughters, Briana Tiller and Alisa Baird all of LaFollette; several nieces and nephews and host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Emma D. Siler, -82, of Jellico, died at Jellico Community Hospital at 6:50 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 1973. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Alice Marion and Mrs. Ethel Marlo both of Jellico; three brothers, Bert Davis, Joe Davis and Smtih Davis all of Jellico; four grandchildren.  Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, at Good Hope Baptist Church by the Rev. Edgar Walden.   Burial was in Cane Creek Cemetery.  Ellison Funeral Home, Jellico, was in charge of the arrangements.

Ova Simpson, - age 74 of LaFollette passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. Mr. Simpson was an ordained minister of the Baptist faith and served as Pastor in several of the local Churches. He was a missionary for Haiti and jail ministry for Campbell County. He was a loving husband, son and brother who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by: father, Oza Simpson. Mr. Simpson is survived by: wife, Mary Rose Marcum Simpson of LaFollette; mother, Bertha Hill Simpson Tharpe of Knoxville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Luster and Sue Simpson and Oza and Marlene Simpson all of Caryville; brother, H. L. Simpson; sisters, Mildred Moon of Knoxville; Gladys Stevens of Huntsville; sisters and
brothers-in-law, Gerldine and Oscar Brock of Jacksboro; Vivian and Otis Lindsay of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 8 pm Thursday, August 26 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Mobley officiating. Interment will be 11 am Friday in Fairview Cemetery. Bonnie J. Smith age 90 of Duff died Sep. 26 at Jellico Community Hospital. She attended Wynn Community Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Smith and son, Benny Smith. Lena Lois "Collins" Stokes, - age 96, of Clinton, passed away Friday, December 3, 2004 at Methodist Medical Center. She was born October 30, 1908 in Campbell County, she lived in Clinton since 1943. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Clinton for 52 years and also a Sunday school teacher. She loved gardening and planting flowers and watching them grow. Preceded in death by husband, Z. William Stokes; parents, Joseph Uriah and Emma Florence Collinsand step-mother, Martha Collins; daughter, Lena Shirley Stokes that died in 1939; brothers, Hobart, Homer and Goebel Collins; sisters, Goldie Ridenour, Gertrude Sharp and Verdie Collins who died earlier. Survivors: daughters, Mary June & husband Max O. Burris of Meridian, MS, Wanda Sue & husband Troy Estes of Harriman; sons, Norris H. & Angela Stokes of Phoenix, AZ, William A. & wife Hazel Stokes of Clinton, Jerry A. Stokes & Diane of Kingston; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 2 honorary grandchildren, Daryl & Jason Phillips of Memphis; sisters, Estella Melton, Evelyn Melton; brother, James Virgil Collins; several nieces and nephews. Edith Caperton Stults, age 67 of Waynesboro, TN died Sept. 17 at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia. She was born April 26, 1937 to the late Paul Neal Caperton, Sr. and Maxie Wade McGee Caperton; wife of the late William Oscar Stults, Jr.; sister of the late, Paul N. Caperton, Jr. She was a member of the Green River Baptist Church and the church choir. She was a retired factory worker and foster grandparent at Waynesboro Elementary School. She is survived by her daughter, Paula L. Middleton, Lewisburg, TN; sons, Ricky G. Stults, Sr., Speedwell, Dave A. and William Barry Stults, both of Waynesboro; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; sisters, Lois Butler, Lawrenceburg, TN, Ruth Hayes, Sheffield, Al, Neva Odle and Shirley Kilburn, both of Collinwood, TN and Billie Dodd, Waynesboro, TN; brothers, Frank, Edward, Larry and Stanley Caperton of Lawrenceburg, TN; several nieces and nephews. Ethel M. "Caldwell" Suttles, age 81 of LaFollette died Sept. 7 at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She attended Ivey Dale Church of God. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and sister who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hodge Suttles; parents, Burl and Mary Hensley Savage; brothers, Curtis, Everett, Fred, and Edward "Tubby" Savage.
