Charles B ADA Jr       Charles Benton Ada Jr, 95, passed away Friday, May 3 2013 at the Henderson Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services at Shackelford Funeral Directors, Johnson Chapel with Rev Carl Teel officiating. Burial followed in Cave Springs Cemetery in Chester County. He was born February 20 1918 in Madison County, the son of Charles Benton and Charity Magdaline NAYLOR ADA. He attended school in Madison County.   He was married to Frances ROLAND on May 17 1941. He worked as a plumber and pipefitter most of his life, working in Indiana and West Tennessee, at his retirement he was a member of the Plumbers Pipefitters, Local 407. He enjoyed hunting, especially coon hunting and he was a member of Unity Baptist Church.   He is survived by his wife, Frances Roland Ada of Henderson; a daughter, Carolyn Griffin of Finger and two sons, Jerry Ada (Brenda) of Henderson and Tommy Ada (Donett) of Homer IL; eight grand children, Amy Anderson (Johnny), Mark Griffin (Heather), Matt Griffin, Andrea Talbott (Bryan), Dawn Weisman (Doug), Dana Ada (Brian), Joe Ada (Beth) and Tammy Perry (Randy); 18 great grand children; and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters, Lillian Frye, Ora Warren, Jack Ada, Clarence Ada and Willie Ada.

Sgt. Dustin M ADKINS       Sgt. Dustin Matthew Adkins, 22, of Finger died December 3 2006 at Haditha Iraq. Funeral at Old Friendship Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Bro Glenn Harris and Chaplin Ken Harris officiating. Burial followed with full military honors at Cave Springs Cemetery in Chester County.   He was born January 6 1984 in Jackson and grew up in Henderson, the son of Richard ADKINS and Karen Lynn JONES SCUDDER. He attended school in Chester County and graduated from Gateway Academy in 2003. He enlisted in the US Army on May 28 2003 and served his basic training in Fort Leonard Wood MO and his advanced individual training at Fort Sam Houston TX. He attended Air Base School at Fort Benning GA and was stationed at Fort Campbell KY with the Fifth Special Forces Group. He was currently serving his second tour of duty in Iraq. He married Tiffany HOWELL on November 4 2003.   He is survived by his wife, Tiffany Renee Howell Adkins; a son, Matthew Vincent Adkins, age 3; a daughter, Atlanta Claire Adkins, age 2; his father, Richard Adkins of Henderson; his mother, Karen Lynn Jones Scudder of Finger; a brother, Staff Sgt Nicholas Alan Adkins of Clarksville; a sister, Crystal Gayle Adkins Webb (Sgt Jason) of Henderson; grandmother, Mayrine Adkins of Finger; great grand mother, Norma Dickson of Finger; step father, Rickey Scudder of Finger; a step brother, Michael Scudder; and a step sister, Nikki Scudder.   He was preceded in death by grandparents, Woodrow Adkins and Bill and Mary Jones.

John ADKINS       John Adkins, 69, born September 25 1937, of Henderson died July 23 2007 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services at Leon Johnson Funeral Home with Rev Anthony Rowland officiating. Burial followed at Cave Springs Cemetery.

John David ALEXANDER       John David Alexander, 39, of Henderson died Nov. 12, 2006, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Savannah with Ed Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in Holland's Creek Cemetery in Hardin County.   John David Alexander was born in Atlantic City NJ on May 4 1967 the son of James Gordon and Alice Marie Nasser Alexander.   He was a programmer for Acsys in Jackson. He had lived in Henderson for 30 years and was a graduate of Chester County High School. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Henderson.   He is survived by his wife, Lisa Smith Alexander of Henderson; his parents, James Gordon Alexander and Alice Marie NASSER ALEXANDER of Henderson; a son, J.D. Alexander of Clarksville; a stepson, Kyle Stringfellow of Henderson; daughters, Cecily Alexander and Darby Alexander, both of Clarksville; a brother, Richard W. Holroyd of Luray; and his grandmother, Estelle Alexander of Savannah.   He was preceded in death by a brother, Matthew Alexander.

Inez LILES ALEXANDER       Mrs Inez Liles Alexander, age 86, died February 18 2014 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital.   She was born in Chester County April 28 1927, daughter of Julius Harvey and Martha Elizabeth GOFF LILES. She attended school in Chester County and was married to Bill Jackson Alexander on July 30 1954. Mr Alexander preceded her in death in 1975. She was employed by the Garment Industry for forty seven years. Mrs Alexander was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church and was buried in their Cemetery in Henderson Co TN. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson – Johnson Chapel in charge.   She is survived by two daughters, Regina Brooks and husband Mike of Henderson and Susan McGee of Milan TN as well as six grand children, sixteen great grand children and three great great grand children. She was preceded in death by a sister, Virgie Gable.

Leamon Joe ALEXANDER       Joe Alexander, 58, retired employee of South Central Bell, died December 5 1993 at Forrest Cove Nursing Home in Jackson. Services at Casey Funeral Home with burial in New Friendship Cemetery. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church of Henderson and Telephone Pioneers and had served two terms on the Chester County Court. Mr Alexander, the husband of Shirley BAIN ALEXANDER, also leaves a daughter, Starla Alexander of Henderson; a son, Stacy Alexander of Henderson; three brothers, Olan Alexander of Jackson, James Alexander of Abbeville MS and Glen Alexander of Bartlett.

Thomas L. "Tommy" ALEXANDER       Tommy Alexander 51, born January 11 1956, died May 20 2007 at his residence at Adamswville. Funeral services at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Savannah with Mike Moore and Harry Nolen officiating. Burial followed in Cabo Cemetery in Chester County.   He was a Millwright Foreman for T-N-T signs and a US Air Force Veteran. He was a member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church.   He is survived by his wife, Lisa BARKER ALEXANDER of Adamsville; his parents, Betty WILSON CHRISTOPHER and Ronnie Christopher, both of Adamsville; sons, Zachary Alexander of Nashville and Jeremy Durrance and Chad Durrance, both of Adamsville; daughters, Brianna Alexander Yeager and Kayla Alexander, both of Corinth MS; a brother, Dale Alexander of Adamsville; sisters, Kay Williams of Tupelo MS, Debbie Durham of Savannah and Tammy Pettigrew of Adamsville; grandparents, Johnny and Lily Wilson of Morris Chapel and four grand children.   He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Gerald Alexander and grand parents, Cube and Lucy Alexander.

Harold Marvin ALPHA       Harold M. Alpha 90, died March 27 2007. He was born in Galata Montana to Hans and Marie GUNDERSON ALPHA. They were immigrants to the US from Norway in the early 1900's, finally residing in Adams ND. He graduated from the North Dakota State School of Science. He was a flight instructor in the Pine Bluff AR School of Aviation in the early 1940's. He served in the Army Air Corps from June 1944 to January 1946 and flew C-47 cargo planes over the "Hump" from India to China and went on many search and rescue missions. He was the purchasing manager for the Eaton Yale and Towne plant in Forrest City AR for about 24 years.   He married Elizabeth Brown HARRIS of Henderson, TN in 1943. He leaves his beloved wife; daughter, Jane Alpha Hicks (Robert H.) of New Orleans, LA; granddaughter, Alice Hicks Brown (Robert E.) and great grand son, Riley Alexander Brown of England; nephews, Tau (Ann) Alpha of Palo Alto CA and Kappa (Cheryl) Alpha and Sigma (Bobbi) Alpha of Grand Junction CO.   He was preceded in death by his brother, Andrew Alpha (Fern) of Denver CO and his sister, Greta (Allen) Levang of Adams ND.   He had been in declining health for the past two year in New Orleans, where he has resided since 1996. He will be sorely missed by family, friends, fellow airmen and Memphis area co workers. Graveside services at the Henderson City Cemetery. Casey Funeral Home of Henderson in charge. Alice Jo Ann ROSS ALTIER       Alice Jo Ann Ross Altier, age 80 died November 11 2014 at her home at Mifflin.   She was born November 20 1933 at Luray, in northern Chester County, the daughter of Mabon Earl and Ruby JONES ROSS. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1952. She moved to Chicago in 1955 and lived there 28 years where she did machinist work. She is the widow of Bill ALTIER. She moved back to Mifflin in 1983 and has made her home there since. She was a member of Mt Pleasant United Methodist Church for many years and was lay leader. She loved to garden and quilt.   She is survived by two sons, James E. (J.W.) Walker and wife Peg of Black Canyon City AZ and Timothy Brocksome and wife Rena of Las Vegas NV and also seven grand children and three great grand children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Beth Gibbons in 2004 and a brother, Little Earl Ross.   Funeral at Shackelford Funeral Directors, Casey Chapel with Bro Jerry Smith officiating and burial in Middlefork Cemetery in Henderson County.

Dr Joseph David ANDERSON       Joseph David "J D" Anderson M. D., 75 physician of Henderson died February 24 1953. He was born October 21 1877, son of Sam D and Mary SMITH ANDERSON. He married Laura Ida SMITH and they had their 50th wedding anniversary in October 1950. Their children are, Miss Pauline Anderson, Mrs Herman Tucker, S. D. Anderson, Cecil Anderson and Neil Anderson, all of Henderson and Mrs J. E. Williams of Ridgley TN; seven grand children and one great grand child. Burial in Henderson City Cemetery with Casey Funeral Home in charge.

Nolia G HENDRIX ANDERSON       Nolia G Anderson, 97 of Henderson, homemaker, died of heart failure Sunday, September 13 1998 at Chester County Nursing Home. Graveside services at Henderson City Cemetery. Leon Johnson Funeral Home in charge. She was a Baptist.   Mrs Anderson, the widow of Vernon Anderson, leaves a daughter, Jo Ellis of Henderson, six grand children and five great grand children.

Shirley Ann ANDERSON       Shirley Ann Anderson, 59 of Finger, payroll clerk for Pathways, died of cancer October 31 1998 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Mrs Anderson, the wife of David ANDERSON, also leaves a daughter, Deborah Ballard of Medon; three sons, Stephen David Anderson of Tampa FL, Bret Anderson of Finger and Adam Anderson of Atlanta GA and a grand child.   Funeral at Shackelford Funeral Home in Selmer with burial in Chester County Memorial Gardens.

Paul ARENDALL       William Paul Arendall, 96, of Henderson died November 21 2006 at West Tennessee Transitional Care in Jackson. Funeral at Casey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr Steve Mischke officiating. Burial followed in Henderson City Cemetery.   He was born November 18 1910 in the Mifflin community of Chester County, the son of the late Claude and Jimmie MELTON ARENDALL. He attended Chester County Schools. He married Ruth THOMAS in 1933 and they made their home at Mifflin a couple of years and then on East Main Street for over 70 years. They owned and operated Paul Arendall Grocery and Appliances on Main Street for over 50 years. (My father bought his 1st TV in the 1950's here.) They closed the store in 1980. He was a member of Henderson Masonic Lodge #485 for over 50 years and a member of the Henderson Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. He was a longtime member of the Lions Club, having served as president and in many other areas. He had served more than one term as a Henderson City Alderman. He was a longtime active member of Henderson First United Methodist Church.   Survivors include a daughter, Linda Arendall Thornton of Memphis; a son, James Paul Arendall of Sarasota FL; a half sister, Virginia Priddy of Henderson; and a grand son.   He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Thomas Arendall in 1993 and a grand son.

Ruth ARENDALL, 82, died February 19 1993 at her home in Chester County. Services at Casey Funeral Home with burial in Henderson City Cemetery. Margaret Ruth THOMAS ARENDALL was a member of Womans Society of Christian Services and First United Methodist Church, was a former member of Bon Tres Club and the Engleside Book Club, and was past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs Arendall, the wife of Paul Arendall, (Paul Arendall owned and ran an appliance store in Henderson in the 1950's) also leaves a daughter, Linda West of Memphis; a son, James Paul Arendall of Sarasota FL; a sister, Katherine Arnold of Jackson TN, two grand children and two great grandchildren.

Diane E. WALKER ARENDALL       Diane E. Arendall, 63, born April 21 1944, of Sarasota FL, formerly of Franklin TN, died August 4 2007. Services at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, Sarasota FL. Survivors include her husband of 39 years, James P. Arendall and a sister, Susan Walker of San Jose CA.

James Paul ARENDALL       James P. "Jim" Arendall, 72, born January 20 1937 in Chester County, the son of Paul and Ruth Arendall.   Funeral services for James Paul "Jim" Arnedall, age 72, of Sarasota FL (formerly of Henderson and Franklin TN) will be at Shackelford Funeral Home Casey Chapel with Rev Jimmy Dyer officiating and burial followed with Masonic Rites at Henderson City Cemetery.   Mr Arendall died March 29 2009.   Survivors include a sister, Linda R. Thornton of Memphis TN; his sister in law, Susan Walker of San Jose CA; two nephews; and seven great nieces and great nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Diane WALKER ARENDALL.

Cecil M ARMOUR       Cecil M. Armour, 82 retired farmer, died December 8 1996 of kidney failure at McNairy County General Hospital in Selmer. Funeral services at Shackelford Funeral Home in Selmer with burial in Woodville Cemetery. Mr Armour leaves three sisters, Graple Kirk of Selmer, Jewell Ferguson of Henderson and Nellie Ayers of Memphis.

Thomas Burn "Tom" ARMOUR       Tom Armour, 86 retired school superintendent, died of pneumonia May 16 1994 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Services at Casey Funeral Home with burial in Henderson City Cemetery. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Member of First Baptist Church of Henderson. Mr Armour, the husband of Nellie Bess SUMMERS ARMOUR, also leaves four sisters, Ocull Pollard of Vista CA, Gola Shelton and Paralee Rook, both of Memphis and Mary Riles of Somerville, and two brothers, Otis Armour of Memphis and Gordon Armour of Millington.

Robbie DULEY ARMOUR       Robbie Mae Duley Armour age 90 died April 11 2003 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Mrs Armour was born January 13 1913 and was reared in Barlow KY; the daughter of the late Leonard and Mae TEMPLE DULEY. She attended schools in New Madrid MO and in 1929 was married to Joseph Pat Armour. They made their home in Chester County where Mr Armour farmed and served as Chester County Sheriff from the 1940's to the early 1950's. They lived in the Chester County Jail, where Mrs Armour prepared all the meals for the prisoners when her husband, Pat Armour served as Sheriff. Mrs Armour later worked at Salant & Salant in Henderson, Oakley Fashions in Jackson and Chester Manufacturing Company as a seamstress. She retired in 1966. Mr. Armour died in 1972. She was very active in the Sanford Hill Baptist Church and later a member of the First Christian Church in Lexington. She is survived by four children Tim Armour and Bobby Len Armour both of Southaven MS; Doris Gail Armour White of Henderson and Patty Jeanne Armour Higginbottom of Savannah. She was preceded in death by a son Joe Armour in 1969. She has a brother F. Ray Duley of Oscar KY and was preceded in death last month by a brother Dale Duley. She has twelve grand children, seventeen great grand children and one great great grand child. Funeral services at Casey Funeral Home with Michele White and Bro Tom Weaver officiating, burial will follow in the Henderson City Cemetery.

Evelyn B WEBB ARNOLD, 73, retired assistant nurse, died Thursday April 8 1993 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Services at Casey Funeral Home in Henderson with burial in Friendship Cemetery. Mrs Arnold was born Feb 11 1920, daughter of Wister and Bessie Saint Webb. She was a member of Rocky Springs Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs Arnold, the widow of Nunnery Arnold, leaves a daughter, Iris Brown (Bobby) of Jackson; a son, Marlin Arnold of Santa Fe NM; a sister, Geneva Cagle of Jackson, four grand children and four great grand children.

Ever Jean ARNOLD       Ever Jean Arnold, 77 of Henderson, died February 2 2008 at her home. Funeral services at Oak Grove Church of Christ with burial to follow at Frye's Point Cemetery. Stephenson-Shaw Funeral Home is in charge. She was a homemaker.   She is survived by her husband, Herman Arnold Jr of Henderson; five daughters, Angela Carter (Henry), Mary Armstrong (Hal), Linda Burton (Cecil), Jacquelyn Brown (Larry), all of Henderson and Debbie Currie (James) of Jackson; four sons, Cooper Arnold and Alvin Arnold, both of Henderson, William Arnold (Jackie) of Jackson and Samuel Smith of Utah; a sister, Valerie Crawford of St Louis MO and a special friend, Jessie Bell Bumpass of Paris.

Mrs William Caleb “WC” ARNOLD       Georgia “Fannie” WRIGHT INGLE ARNOLD died in St Louis MO on September 24 1950 after a three month illness. She was born July 17 1871 near Henderson, the daughter of Richard and Sarah “Sally” WRIGHT. She first married James David “JD” INGLE and after he died she married W C ARNOLD, who died in 1929. Since his death she has lived in Henderson, St Louis, Jackson and Memphis. She was a member of the Big Springs Methodist Church at Five Points.   She is survived by four sons, R. C. Ingle of St Louis, Ernest Ingle of Rosedale LA, W. D. Arnold of Jackson and Eddy Arnold of Nashville (of Grand Ole Opry fame); one daughter, Mrs Frank Burns of St Louis; two step sons, Allen Arnold of Pinson and Mitchum Arnold of Memphis; one step daughter, Miss Bertha Arnold of Pinson; two brothers, Joe Wright of St Louis and Ed Wright of Poplar Bluff MO; two sisters, Mrs John Seaton of Jackson and Mrs John Kirkman of Caruthersville MO.   Funeral at Smith Funeral Home in Jackson with Rev Henry Smith, Pastor of Pinson Methodist Church officiating. Burial in Henderson City Cemetery.     (In the 1940 Census Georgia Arnold is living in St Louis with her son, John E Arnold.   John E Arnold died in WWII in the Normandy Invasion.)

Mrs Margie Irene PEARCE ARNOLD, 75 died January 18 1991 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital after a short illness. Services at Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home with burial in New Friendship Cemetery in Chester County. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Marjoria Irene "Margie" Pearce Arnold, born July 5 1915 is the daughter of William Frank Pearce and Nancy H BRAY PEARCE. Mrs Arnold, the wife of W. D. ARNOLD, also leaves two sons, William Frank Arnold of Jackson and Jerry Paul Arnold of Nashville, four grand children and two great grand children.

Richard Edward "Eddie" ARNOLD       Richard Edward Arnold was born May 15 1918 on a farm on the Needmore Road in Chester County, not far from the Madison County line.   He died in Nashville TN on May 8 2008.     More Information  

W. D. ARNOLD, 81, retired barber, died Saturday, March 16 1991 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Services at Lawrence-Sorenson Funeral Home with burial in New Friendship Cemetery in Chester County. He was born May 16 1909 in Chester County, the son of William C. and Georgia WRIGHT ARNOLD.   He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Jackson. Arnold, the widower of Margie Irene Pearce Arnold, leaves two sons, Jerry Paul Arnold of Nashville and William Frank Arnold of Jackson; a brother, Richard E. "Eddy" Arnold of Brentwood TN, four grand children and two great grand children. (NOTE: His brother, Eddy was the famous Country Singer.)

Olera ASBRIDGE       Olera Nance Asbridge, 76 died July 26 2008 at Wesley Nursing Care in Dyersburg. Graveside services at Chester County Memory Gardens with Jeff Record, Danny Lowery and Jennifer Lowery officiating. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson, Casey Chapel in charge.   She was born March 29 1932 and reared in the Montezuma community of Chester County, the daughter of George Clyde and Leota WADE NANCE. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1949. She lived at Tiptonville TN for many years and did clerical work in the clinic at Lake County Correctional Facility. She moved to Dyersburg in 1995 to make her home near her daughter, Jennifer.   She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Lowery and Jana Harris, both of Dyersburg; a son, Jeff Record of Henderson; a brother, Raymond Nance of Athens AL; two sisters, Rovene Thomas and Morene Marsh, both of Henderson; seven grand children and 10 great grand children. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Suzanne Lowery.

Ruth ASKEW       Mrs Ruth Askew, age 94 of Bemis died September 11 2004 at Forest Cove Nursing Home. She is survived by a daughter, Leahrae Taylor and a son, Bill Askew, both of Jackson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl Askew in 1962 and a daughter Earlene Jones in 2002. Graveside services at Cave Springs Cemetery. Casey Funeral Home in charge.

Linda COOP AUSTEIN       Linda Coop Austein, 63 of Medon TN died October 31 2006 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services at Bethel Baptist Church in Chester County. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Pafford Funeral Home in charge.   She is survived by her husband, Walter Lee Austein of Medon; two daughters, Candace Woody of Henderson and Angela Moore of Medon; two sons, James "Jim" Austein of Medon and Walter "Pete" Austein of Ripley MS; a brother, Wiliam Bryan Coop Jr of Memphis; a sister, Marlene Rodgers of Gastonia NC; six grand children and two great grand children.

Carolyn F TOTTY AUSTIN       Carolyn F Totty Austin died August 24 2006.   Funeral services for Mrs Austin was held at Bellevue Baptist Church in Nashville with Dr Mike Shelton officiating. Burial followed in Henderson City Cemetery. Leon Johnson Funeral Home in charge. She was born January 20 1941 in Memphis, the daughter of Ida Totty and the late D.A. Totty. She grew up in Memphis and moved to Chester County, where she graduated from Chester County High School in 1959. She later attended Freed Hardeman College. She married Tony Austin in 1961 and they have made their home in Nashville since 1966. She was an administrative assistant for the Musicians Union Local 257 AFM. She was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church.   She is survived by her husband, Tony Austin of Nashville; sons, Mark of Nashville, Scott (serving his country in Iraq), and Steve of Ft Knox KY; her mother, Ida Totty of Collierville TN; a sister Christine Coble of Searcy AR; brothers, Doug and Bud Totty of Memphis; mother in law, Odessa Austin of Henderson; and two grand children.

Dorothy Sue AUSTIN AUSTIN       Dorothy Sue Austin age 78 passed away Saturday, June 13 2013 at the Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.   She was born, December 6 1934 and reared in Chester County, the daughter of James Robert and Ollie Mae JORDAN AUSTIN. She went to school in Chester County. She married Robert Edgar AUSTIN in 1954 and they made their home in Chester County. She worked in several garment factories in the area where she was a seamstress and later became a supervisor. Mr Austin died in 1998. Dorothy loved to go to dances and love to sew. She loved being a caregiver to many and helping people in many ways. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Henderson.   She is survived by two sons Billy and Mike Austin both of Henderson and a daughter Bonnie Cox of Montezuma; seven grand children and five great grand children.   Funeral at the First Baptist Church in Henderson with Stan Smith and Brad Patterson officiating. Burial followed in the Pisgah Cemetery. Casey Funeral Chapel in charge.

Jerry L AUSTIN       Jerry Lee Austin age 78, died Friday March 21 2014 at his home in Henderson.   He was born February 27 1936 in Chester County, the son of Alton Parker Austin and Willie Sue ROSS AUSTIN. He attended Chester County High Schools and married Minnie ARMSTRONG in 1956. He was a mechanic for John Deere Implement Company for forty years. He then worked as a mechanic for the Chester County Highway Department until he retired. He loved to restore old tractors. Mr Austin was a member of the Faith Fellowship Church.   Mr Austin is survived by his wife, Minnie Mae Armstrong Austin of Henderson; a daughter, Debbie Jo Beshiers and husband Jeff of Henderson; two grand children, Brian Rayburn and Missy Geary and husband, Ronnie Geary, Jr; five great grand children, Kristin Rayburn Carson, Lee Rayburn, Taylor Geary, Trinity Geary and Brooke Burton; one brother, Larry Austin of Henderson and two sisters, Christine Gray of Henderson and Imojean Coffman of Gibson TN (near Humbolt).   He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Lee Henry Austin, Cecil Austin, Robert Ed Austin and Guy Austin and five sisters, Edith Thomas, Marie Cupples, Sue Wilbanks, Helen Betts and Elizabeth Austin.   Funeral services at Shackelford Funeral Directors Casey Chapel with Ken Frye and Ken Kitchen officiating and burial followed in Chester County Memory Gardens.

Joy Ann HOPPER AUSTIN       Services for Mrs Joy Austin were held at Pafford Funeral Home with burial in Smith Cemetery in Chester County.   Mrs Austin, 48, died July 12 1988 at Regional Medical Center in Memphis. She was previously of Lexington. She leaves two daughters, Mrs Jean Ann Sims of Big Sandy and Miss Lisa Carol Austin of Memphis; two sons, Tony Austin of Lexington and Stephen Austin of Memphis; four sisters, Mrs Edna Brown of Sardis, Mrs Gail Hamm of Reagan, Mrs Connie Hayes of Herando Beach FL and Mrs Bonnie Blankenship of Paris; a brother, Scottie Hopper of Lexington and two grand children.

Mrs "Mamie" Mary Elizabeth ALEXANDER CUMMINGS AUSTIN       Mrs Austin died May 9 2014 at Henderson Health and Rehabilitation Center.   Funeral services for Mamie Mary Elizabeth Alexander Cummings Austin, age 95, at Shackelford Funeral Directors, Johnson Chapel. Interment will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery near Saltillo in Hardin County TN.   She was born June 18 1918 in Chester County, daughter of Henry and Maudie QUALLS ALEXANDER. She married Norman CUMMINGS in 1935, who preceded her in death in 1954. She married W.C. AUSTIN in 1957, who preceded her in death in 1974. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Sanford Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her flowers, crocheting and doing word search puzzles.   In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Anthony Logan in 2000; seven brothers, J.P. Alexander, Pete Alexander, O.B. Alexander, Talmage Alexander, Arthur Alexander, Billy Joe Alexander and Bill Alexander and one sister, Geneva Dodd.   Survivors include her sons, H.C. (Johnnie) Cummings of Enville and David (Anita) Austin of Jackson; three daughters, Betty (Johnie) Plunk of Henderson, Ruby (Perry) Jeter of Jackson and Linda (John) King of Munford; two stepsons, Ray (Wanda) Austin of Beech Bluff and Vernon (Betty) Austin of Oswego IL; one sister, Pauline (R.D.) Smith of Henderson; many grand children, great grand children and great great grand children.

Rita Lee VICKERY AUSTIN       Services for Mrs Rita Lee Vickery Austin were at Casey Funeral Home with burial in Chester County Memory Gardens.   Mrs Austin, 34 died April 14 1999 in an automobile accident. She was an employee of Young Radiator. She leaves two daughters, Heather Lachelle Barnes and Judy Jean Farley, both of Lexington; her mother, Anna Helen WILKERSON VICKERY of Henderson; her father, Bayles Neal Vickery of Macon GA; a brother Larry Jennings of Crofton KY; four sisters, Debra Spears of Crofton KY; Kathy Ross of Jackson, Vickie Carpenter and Connie Nash both of Henderson; her grand mother, Mrs Agnes WILLIAMSON of Dawson Springs KY.     Findagrave

Robert Edgar "Ed" AUSTIN       Robert Ed Austin, 67, backhoe service operator and retired employee of Whally Construction Co, died of cancer Friday, January 23 1998 at his home in Henderson. Services at Casey Funeral Home with burial in Pisgah Cemetery. He also had farmed and logged. Mr Austin, the husband of Dorothy Sue AUSTIN, also leaves a daughter, Bonnie Cox and two sons, Billy Austin and Mike Austin, all of Henderson; five sisters, Marie Cupples and Cris Gray, both of Henderson, Sue Wilbanks of Parsons and Helen Betts and Imogene Coffman, both of Medina and three brothers, Guy Austin, Jerry Austin and Larry Austin, all of Henderson.

V.R. "Red" AUSTIN       Funeral Services for Mr Verna Ralph "Red" Austin age 92 was held at the Chapel of Leon Johnson Funeral Home with burial in Henderson City Cemetery. Mr Austin died December 11 2005 at the West Tennessee Transitional Care Center. He was born April 11 1913 in Hardin County TN son of Elmer Felix and Virgie BANKS AUSTIN. He graduated from Saltillo School and attended Freed Hardeman College for two years. Mr Austin owned and operated the Electric Grill in Henderson for 37 1/2 years. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Henderson.   Survivors include his wife Odessia BURRESS AUSTIN of Henderson TN and a son Tony Austin and wife Carolyn of Nashville TN; three grandsons Mark Austin, Scott Austin and Steven Austin; two great grandsons Tyler and Coltin Austin. He was preceded in death by sisters Irma and Rubye Austin and Lou Nell Ozment.
