Sgt. Dustin M ADKINS Sgt. Dustin Matthew Adkins, 22, of Finger died December 3 2006 at Haditha Iraq. Funeral at Old Friendship Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Bro Glenn Harris and Chaplin Ken Harris officiating. Burial followed with full military honors at Cave Springs Cemetery in Chester County. He was born January 6 1984 in Jackson and grew up in Henderson, the son of Richard ADKINS and Karen Lynn JONES SCUDDER. He attended school in Chester County and graduated from Gateway Academy in 2003. He enlisted in the US Army on May 28 2003 and served his basic training in Fort Leonard Wood MO and his advanced individual training at Fort Sam Houston TX. He attended Air Base School at Fort Benning GA and was stationed at Fort Campbell KY with the Fifth Special Forces Group. He was currently serving his second tour of duty in Iraq. He married Tiffany HOWELL on November 4 2003. He is survived by his wife, Tiffany Renee Howell Adkins; a son, Matthew Vincent Adkins, age 3; a daughter, Atlanta Claire Adkins, age 2; his father, Richard Adkins of Henderson; his mother, Karen Lynn Jones Scudder of Finger; a brother, Staff Sgt Nicholas Alan Adkins of Clarksville; a sister, Crystal Gayle Adkins Webb (Sgt Jason) of Henderson; grandmother, Mayrine Adkins of Finger; great grand mother, Norma Dickson of Finger; step father, Rickey Scudder of Finger; a step brother, Michael Scudder; and a step sister, Nikki Scudder. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Woodrow Adkins and Bill and Mary Jones.
John David ALEXANDER John David Alexander, 39, of Henderson died Nov. 12, 2006, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Savannah with Ed Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in Holland's Creek Cemetery in Hardin County. John David Alexander was born in Atlantic City NJ on May 4 1967 the son of James Gordon and Alice Marie Nasser Alexander. He was a programmer for Acsys in Jackson. He had lived in Henderson for 30 years and was a graduate of Chester County High School. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Henderson. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Smith Alexander of Henderson; his parents, James Gordon Alexander and Alice Marie NASSER ALEXANDER of Henderson; a son, J.D. Alexander of Clarksville; a stepson, Kyle Stringfellow of Henderson; daughters, Cecily Alexander and Darby Alexander, both of Clarksville; a brother, Richard W. Holroyd of Luray; and his grandmother, Estelle Alexander of Savannah. He was preceded in death by a brother, Matthew Alexander.
Inez LILES ALEXANDER Mrs Inez Liles Alexander, age 86, died February 18 2014 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital. She was born in Chester County April 28 1927, daughter of Julius Harvey and Martha Elizabeth GOFF LILES. She attended school in Chester County and was married to Bill Jackson Alexander on July 30 1954. Mr Alexander preceded her in death in 1975. She was employed by the Garment Industry for forty seven years. Mrs Alexander was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church and was buried in their Cemetery in Henderson Co TN. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson – Johnson Chapel in charge. She is survived by two daughters, Regina Brooks and husband Mike of Henderson and Susan McGee of Milan TN as well as six grand children, sixteen great grand children and three great great grand children. She was preceded in death by a sister, Virgie Gable.
Paul ARENDALL William Paul Arendall, 96, of Henderson died November 21 2006 at West Tennessee Transitional Care in Jackson. Funeral at Casey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr Steve Mischke officiating. Burial followed in Henderson City Cemetery. He was born November 18 1910 in the Mifflin community of Chester County, the son of the late Claude and Jimmie MELTON ARENDALL. He attended Chester County Schools. He married Ruth THOMAS in 1933 and they made their home at Mifflin a couple of years and then on East Main Street for over 70 years. They owned and operated Paul Arendall Grocery and Appliances on Main Street for over 50 years. (My father bought his 1st TV in the 1950's here.) They closed the store in 1980. He was a member of Henderson Masonic Lodge #485 for over 50 years and a member of the Henderson Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. He was a longtime member of the Lions Club, having served as president and in many other areas. He had served more than one term as a Henderson City Alderman. He was a longtime active member of Henderson First United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Arendall Thornton of Memphis; a son, James Paul Arendall of Sarasota FL; a half sister, Virginia Priddy of Henderson; and a grand son. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Thomas Arendall in 1993 and a grand son.
Ruth ARENDALL, 82, died February 19 1993 at her home in Chester County. Services at Casey Funeral Home with burial in Henderson City Cemetery. Margaret Ruth THOMAS ARENDALL was a member of Womans Society of Christian Services and First United Methodist Church, was a former member of Bon Tres Club and the Engleside Book Club, and was past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs Arendall, the wife of Paul Arendall, (Paul Arendall owned and ran an appliance store in Henderson in the 1950's) also leaves a daughter, Linda West of Memphis; a son, James Paul Arendall of Sarasota FL; a sister, Katherine Arnold of Jackson TN, two grand children and two great grandchildren.
Cecil M ARMOUR Cecil M. Armour, 82 retired farmer, died December 8 1996 of kidney failure at McNairy County General Hospital in Selmer. Funeral services at Shackelford Funeral Home in Selmer with burial in Woodville Cemetery. Mr Armour leaves three sisters, Graple Kirk of Selmer, Jewell Ferguson of Henderson and Nellie Ayers of Memphis.
Thomas Burn "Tom" ARMOUR Tom Armour, 86 retired school superintendent, died of pneumonia May 16 1994 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Services at Casey Funeral Home with burial in Henderson City Cemetery. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Member of First Baptist Church of Henderson. Mr Armour, the husband of Nellie Bess SUMMERS ARMOUR, also leaves four sisters, Ocull Pollard of Vista CA, Gola Shelton and Paralee Rook, both of Memphis and Mary Riles of Somerville, and two brothers, Otis Armour of Memphis and Gordon Armour of Millington.
Robbie DULEY ARMOUR Robbie Mae Duley Armour age 90 died April 11 2003 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Mrs Armour was born January 13 1913 and was reared in Barlow KY; the daughter of the late Leonard and Mae TEMPLE DULEY. She attended schools in New Madrid MO and in 1929 was married to Joseph Pat Armour. They made their home in Chester County where Mr Armour farmed and served as Chester County Sheriff from the 1940's to the early 1950's. They lived in the Chester County Jail, where Mrs Armour prepared all the meals for the prisoners when her husband, Pat Armour served as Sheriff. Mrs Armour later worked at Salant & Salant in Henderson, Oakley Fashions in Jackson and Chester Manufacturing Company as a seamstress. She retired in 1966. Mr. Armour died in 1972. She was very active in the Sanford Hill Baptist Church and later a member of the First Christian Church in Lexington. She is survived by four children Tim Armour and Bobby Len Armour both of Southaven MS; Doris Gail Armour White of Henderson and Patty Jeanne Armour Higginbottom of Savannah. She was preceded in death by a son Joe Armour in 1969. She has a brother F. Ray Duley of Oscar KY and was preceded in death last month by a brother Dale Duley. She has twelve grand children, seventeen great grand children and one great great grand child. Funeral services at Casey Funeral Home with Michele White and Bro Tom Weaver officiating, burial will follow in the Henderson City Cemetery.

She was a member of Rocky Springs Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Arnold, the widow of Nunnery Arnold, leaves a daughter, Iris Brown of Jackson; a son, Marlin Arnold of Santa Fe NM; a sister, Geneva Cagle of Jackson, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Marjoria Irene "Margie" Pearce Arnold, born July 5 1915 is the daughter of William Frank Pearce and Nancy H Bray Pearce. Mrs. Arnold, the wife of W. D. Arnold, also leaves two sons, William Frank Arnold of Jackson and Jerry Paul Arnold of Nashville, four grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.
W. D. ARNOLD, 81, retired barber, died Saturday, March 16 1991 at Jackson- Madison County General Hospital. Services at Lawrence-Sorenson Funeral Home with burial in New Friendship Cemetery in Chester County. He was born May 16 1909 in Chester County, the son of William C. and Georgia Arnold. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Jackson. Arnold, the widower of Margie Irene Pearce Arnold, leaves two sons, Jerry Paul Arnold of Nashville and William Frank Arnold of Jackson; a brother, Richard E. "Eddy" Arnold of Brentwood TN, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. (NOTE: His brother, Eddy was the famous Country Singer.)

Carolyn F TOTTY AUSTIN Carolyn F Totty Austin died August 24 2006. Funeral services for Mrs Austin was held at Bellevue Baptist Church in Nashville with Dr Mike Shelton officiating. Burial followed in Henderson City Cemetery. Leon Johnson Funeral Home was in charge. She was born January 20 1941 in Memphis, the daughter of Ida Totty and the late D.A. Totty. She grew up in Memphis and moved to Chester County, where she graduated from Chester County High School in 1959. She later attended Freed Hardeman College. She married Tony Austin in 1961 and they have made their home in Nashville since 1966. She was an administrative assistant for the Musicians Union Local 257 AFM. She was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Tony Austin of Nashville; sons, Mark of Nashville, Scott (serving his country in Iraq), and Steve of Ft Knox KY; her mother, Ida Totty of Collierville TN; a sister Christine Coble of Searcy AR; brothers, Doug and Bud Totty of Memphis; mother in law, Odessa Austin of Henderson; and two grand children.
V.R. "Red" AUSTIN Funeral Services for Mr Verna Ralph "Red" Austin age 92 was held at the Chapel of Leon Johnson Funeral Home with burial in Henderson City Cemetery. Mr Austin died December 11 2005 at the West Tennessee Transitional Care Center. He was born April 11 1913 in Hardin County TN son of Elmer Felix and Virgie BANKS AUSTIN. He graduated from Saltillo School and attended Freed Hardeman College for two years. Mr Austin owned and operated the Electric Grill in Henderson for 37 1/2 years. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Henderson. Survivors include his wife Odessia BURRESS AUSTIN of Henderson TN and a son Tony Austin and wife Carolyn of Nashville TN; three grandsons Mark Austin, Scott Austin and Steven Austin; two great grandsons Tyler and Coltin Austin. He was preceded in death by sisters Irma and Rubye Austin and Lou Nell Ozment.
