SPECIAL BOOK SIGNING IN JONESBOROUGH

Thursday, November 5, 2009

7:00 P.M.
Story Telling Center

The Heritage Alliance is pleased to announce a book reception for Paul Kennedy’s
                                           The end of the day

on Thursday, November 5 at 7pm.

The reception, co-hosted by the Alliance and The International  Storytelling Center, will take place in the lobby and theatre of the  Mary B. Martin Storytelling Hall.

The 96-page, hardbound book features 31 color reproductions of  Kennedy’s photographs made between 2004 and 2008 in Jonesborough,  chronicling the salvage-demolition of the 1856 Wells-Smith House.  A  branch of the AmericInn hotel chain was built on the original site,  while the house was rebuilt on a new site.

Kennedy, who grew up in Jonesborough, designed the book to tell the  story of the house through a combination of photographs, historical  documents and architectural scholarship.

The reception will feature a multi-media presentation by the  photographer, as well as a discussion with architectural historian  Robbie Jones of Nashville, who contributed an essay to the book, and  with local resident, professor and storyteller/musician Joseph Sobol.

Photographs from the work will be on display and books will be  available for purchase following the presentation.
