Got your email. Will review and think.
I believe my g-g grandfather, Henry Clay Thomas (1845) had first cousins who married 2 Colgate brothers, John F. and William, so I'm really interested in this. The census records all say they came from NY to Wash. Co, VA.

Nancy,
Just happened to stumble upon your website, and was surprised to find a lineage of my family. My grandfather was Baxter Colgate (whom I had heard people refer to as Jerry Baxter Colgate). My father was Blant Colgate, 1st son of Baxter and Lola Davis. I know nothing of my father''s history, and I will have to spiral through your website to trace this thing. My grandparents divorced when my father was young, and Baxter died in the 40's I think. My father had little contact with him. My grandmother died in the late 80's. She was born in the around 1897 and was in her nineties. Your records say that Baxter was born in 1904, which would have made her a bit older than my grandfather. My dad was born in 1921, which would have made Baxter only 17 when he was born. (?) My father died unexpectedly in 1986 of a heart attack. He was 64. My dad was born in Nashville, but at some point they moved to Louisville, Kentucky. I was raised in Dallas, Texas and I did not have a lot of contact with the extended family.
If you have any other leads or information, I would love to know.
Thanks,
Jeanne Colgate Terrell

Hi:
I posted this on the Colegate Genforum site

and didn't know when you might check back on the site.....
thanks,

Can you give a listing of children and descendants of Henry Colegate? (as far as space here allows) There are so few of us searching on this name, it might be of great help to the rest of us.

I am interested in a William E. Colegate or Colgate or William Ellsworth Colgate or Colegate who was born in Franklin County, Indiana and wondered if you have anything that might show him? He was married in 1887 in Dickson County Tennessee, and I am not sure when he was born, but perhaps around 1865 or so?

I have a Colgate page at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~tngenny1/colgate.html  (this page)

Many thanks!
