DR. DANIEL C. CHAMBERLAIN who died Jan. 14, 1866 in Nashville, Tn. and or his wife MARY GARRETT CHAMBERLAIN who died March 2, 1864 in Nashville, Tn. Both are buried in the old Nashville City Cemetery in Wm. Garrett's plot. Let me know what the fee is.

his wife...Emma Treiber b. 8 Mar 1855 in Nashville Davidson Co. TN d. 14 May 1945 in Nashville Davidson Co. TN
Truman Harrington (Alphaeus' father--note Alphaeus is also spelled Alpheus,Alfred Alfus...So far this fits the following Irish naming tradition
First son named after father's father
Second son named after mother's father
Third son named after father
Truman Harrington b 1820 Lebanon Wilson Co TN m 2 Jan 1840 Lebanon Wilson Co TN d May 1871
His wife is Elizabeth Smith b 1823
Her father is Caleb Smith
What I would like to ask you and your classes is that I can't find anything beyond Truman Harrington (My dad thinks they are from NC but I can't prove that) Truman is found in a lot of deed records and court records for charges against him. I am in Louisville and can't get to Nashville to find out what these records show. Truman was also given a small track of land signed by the then Govenor James Polk. Why did he get that? I heard thru family that he helped "lay the cornerstone of the capitol." The son was in the Civil War - 7th Tn. Infantry Regiment Co. H Lebanon Greys. I am sad to say that I also found that Truman owned two slaves-no name just an older women and a small child probably the mother's.  
A real problem w/ my report is that I lack interesting stories, pictures, and clippings.
How can I spice up my genealogy other then entering just dates. What kind of people are they?? How did they live their lives??  
I have not checked any church records b/c I don't know where to look.
Any info would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I'm having a terrible time getting information from Tennessee records.I'm attempting to research my husbands family having been very successful with mine. This is the info I have, limited as it is:
-John Benjamin Harris family lived in Morristown Tennessee in the late 1900's. John may have been a farmer at that time.
-His son, James Benjamin Harris was born in Morristown in 1898 or 1899.
-John may have had 2 or 3 daughters older than James.
-John later(no dates) moved his family to Knoxville where he opened a general store.
-John may have been a lay preacher or heavily involved in a church.
Maybe Presbyterian(?)
There are no other names or dates that we are aware of. James was my father-in-laws'(also named John Benjamin)father.  
We would appreciate any help/leads that anyone may be able to give us on this family. We currently live in Okinawa, Japan so going to the nearest LDS library and looking this up is not an option. I recently paid someone to look up the 1900 census for Morristown, TENN but he could find no information in it for me.

Genny,
I am researching my TN/KY Goodman family.
I found my gggrandfather, Lemuel on the 1836 and 1838 Wayne Co. Tax Lists as well as on the 1840 Wayne Co. Census, then into Graves Co KY in 1850.
From 1850 on I have pretty well documented him and his family.
BUT....I can't seem to find out anything about them in TN.
On the 1836 Wayne Co. Tax List he was listed under (indented in) Abijah, no acreage, each 1 white male.
Also found Lemuel only listed as GOODMON on 1838 Tax List, still no acreage, listed as one white male.
On the 1840 Wayne Co. TN Census I found Lemuel on p. 69, and a Jesse on pg. 76. (I believe there is a connection between the two though I have nothing to substantiate that except that they were close in proximity and Lemuel's grandson was named Jesse.)
I live in the boonies of Port St. Lucie FL, my point being there's not much here. About the only source I have is some census info in Vero Beach and the LDS library in Palm City. Although I do find quite a bit on the internet... real substantial leads are far and few in between and even then I can't actually see the source...usually what someone tells me. Can you give me any suggestions as to what I should be looking for and where?

My 3rd great Aunt, Nancy Pendarvis married into the Glover family and I am trying to find additional information on her parents and her family for that matter.

I am looking for Pendarvis, Herron, Dickens, Vance, Wood, Robert(s), Piper, Dudley, Fley, Wallis, Allen, Lamons, and Perry.
Pendarvis, Herron, Glover, Dickens, Vance, Wood and Robert(s) are family names while Piper, Dudley, Fley, Wallis, Allen, Lamons and Perry are good friends of the Pendarvis family and may or may not be connected at this point in my research. In a letter that William Pendarvis wrote to his son in IL 25 Dec 1833 he mentions that cousin Pepy is about to marry Glen Glover and that cousin Thomas Vance has died. I am trying to ID both Pepy and Thomas Vance.
Do you have information on any of these surnames from Smith Co., TN 1780-1850 or can you refer me to people who searching any or all of those names?

I have the Landrum family back to Scotland.
My line is from Reuben Landrum b. 1729 m. Mary b. 1710 .
I have a big packet on all the Landrums, where they came from in Scotland and all .
I tried to look through to find a Rhoda and found a Rhoda P. Landrum m.George W. Grady in 1858 but that doesn't mean there's not more. Maybe some of the kids are not listed. The whole thing is very intersting. ..
As for my LEA: Her name was Mary and she married my Abraham Hughes in 1821, in Rhea Co. Tn. By 1828 he was married to Esther Reasor and they had 10 kids. Moved to Tx. and lived until they died. I wanted to know what happened to Mary. There were no kids for Mary that I have found. Maybe there were I don't know.

The bride was Elizabeth Weedon (Weeden), born l8l0, VA, daughter of Augustine Weedon & Elizabeth Farmer and the groom was William I or J Colvert (Calvert), born 1810 in NC.
The subsequently moved to Alabama, and then to Chambersville, Arkansas.

Robert L. RYMAN (b. about 1870) married Mollie (unknown surname) (b. about 1877 in Arkansas) before 1897. They are found in the neighboring Davidson County census in 1900 with son Herman P. RYMAN (b. abt. 1897) and boarder and co-worker Chas. LOVELL. Mollie died on February 21, 1915, in Ashland City (Cheatham County) and is buried at the CROUCH graveyard. Was Mollie a CROUCH? Who were her parents and siblings, and who were Robert's parents and siblings?
Delilah RYMAN married J.P. VICK on December 30, 1879, in Cheatham County.
Who is Delilah and who are her siblings and parents?
I have a lot of RYMAN information I can share. My ancestors are RYMANs.
I would REALLY appreciate some help with these individuals.
If anyone has access to Cheatham County censuses, I would really appreciate lookups on the RYMANS also.

I have been researching the family of William Compton (b.1767, Va. died 1843 Nashville) for several years. I have a rather complete file on his wife, and their children.
I am completely stymied in finding his parents. I would be happy to provide a gedcom or other info on the family. Would appreciate any information.
My primary source of background information has been "History of Davidson Co. TN", Clayton, 1880.
William supposedly came to Davidson Co. in 1792, married Susan Mullen in 1799;
from there until present I have considerable information, particularly their son and my ggrandfather William Scott Compton.

If you have Weakley's in your line, check it out...I am not finished, but at least it is a start of listing some information from Samuel Anderson Weakley's family history book on the Weakley family of Virginia, and Tennessee and other states.
The book was a 500 page, handwritten account of the descendants of Robert Weakley, Sr..  Many descendants are still in the Cheatham/Dickson/Montgomery county areas of Tennessee..

MARIAN HENSON and his son and 3 daughters moved from Morristown Tenn about 1890 to Texas.
His son's name was Elbert HENSON,
who had sisters, Eva HENSON, Medie HENSON, and Drossie HENSON.

.... I have a puzzler, you might be able to suggest another place to look...I have been searching (not steadily) for a divorce record in Dickson Co. for a while now. This is on my Hunter/Lovell family. Georgie Lee Lovell & Sadie Hunter marr. in I believe, Sept 1925---shotgun variety so the story goes. Never lived together, again family story, and George/Georgie Lee marr. again in 1930. Sadie's baby was born in either Jan or Feb 1926. Marie Allbert got the Chancery court film for those years for Dickson and I think for Cheatham Counties, and found no mention of a divorce. Also another researcher searched Cheatham Co, too and nothing. I can't believe there was NOT a divorce, all those families lived in 'each other's pocket' too close to let a thing like that not get talked about. Any suggestions as to where I might look at this point????..

Hi, I have a Benjamine McKinney in my family tree who married Amanda Dawson(1869-1924) dau/ of Amos Dawson(1802-1875). Where is Smith Co.? These people lived in East Tenn. what is now called Cocke Co.(was Greene Co., Jefferson Co.)
Benjamine McKinney is buried at Mt. Airy Methodist Ceme/ Hamblin Co. Morristown, tenn. They had two children: Sally Kate McKinney and Edna Mae McKinney. Don't know if he is related or not.

I am searching for a Hawkins Family who were in Tennessee in 1820-30?? One of them was "Polly Hawkins" -- married Johnathon Steven Tilly- an indentured bond-servant in area of Cape Giradeaux, Missouri... Also, her brother , Johnathan K. Hawkins was a Methodist Circuit Rider -- from Memphis, -- then was entered into service in 1843 - New Madrid, Missouri.... Does anyone know of any Methodist Historians who might have records of Circuit Rider Pastors??? It was a large family, several sets of twins... 21 children, I believe.

Looking for Wrights who ended up in Fentress Co. TN.
I have found 3 Wright brothers from Maryland.
They are David Wright, b. abt. 1785, John Wright, b. abt. 1787, and Matthew W. Wright b. April 14, 1789.
John Wright married Elizabeth LINDLEY, b. abt. 1796 in Virginia.
Their children included Sarah Wright, b.1815, Elizabeth J. Wright, b. 1817, John C. Wright b. 1819, and think there were more children.
Matthew W. Wright married Margaret Ann RITCHIE, b. July 5, 1790.
Can't seem to find anything on the brothers' parents. All information welcome.
