Looking for anyone doing research on these surnames. My great-grandfather
was Allen MARTIN. Allen was born around 1842, somewhere in Tennessee. He

her death, Allen married Mary CULVER in Colorado about 1890. Possible children

I am searching for information on Charles HAYS, born about 1780 in Davidson
Co., and his wife, Mourning ENOCHS. They were married in Davidson Co. on
3 Apr 1805 and had at least 3 sons: Samuel HAYS, Chad HAYS, and John C.
HAYS.
The family moved to Claiborne Parish, Louisiana before 1830. I am interested
to know about Charles and Mourning's parents, etc. as well as where the family
was from originally.

To: Genny1@aol.com
Hi,
I have been researching the Ozments and IDDINGS family for a while now (have
already talked to Lon Martin and Howard Ozment), and an IDDINGS researcher
I corresponded with wrote that EDDENS was origially IDDINGS. Had you ever
heard of this before?
I have been trying to find out some information on Rebecca "Becky" PEAVY/PAVEY
who married a Richard OZMENT in 1816, in Guilford Co., NC. I believe she
was the daughter of my ancestor, John PAVEY and his wife (Mary?) Anderson.
John PAVEY was on the 1790 Caroline Co., MD census, bought land in Guilford
Co. in 1803.
Some of this Anderson line migrated to TN. ca. 1807. I have never been able
to find out what happened to this Richard and Becky Ozment. There was a will
(1816) in Guilford Co. of a Margaret COOK who left things to Becky Pavey
and Isaac Anderson. Joseph Iddings and Richard Ozment were witnesses.
Does any of this sound familiar to you? Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi Nancy,
As far as I can determine from here (Maryland) Presley C. WILLIAMS is my
husbands great-grandfather. He is the only WILLIAMS I've found in any records
either on-line or from Family Tree Maker or the LDS Family History Center
who fits the initials "P.C." as they appeared on the wedding invitation for
my husband's grandparents' wedding. I would appreciate contact with someone
who has more information about him.
Thanks for your help.

Joseph Philips was an early settler, emigrated in 1891
(Note: this date is obviously a typo, and probably should be 1791)
with his wife, Milbrey Horn, from Edgecomb County, N.C. to Davidson County,
and settled six miles north of Nashville. His ancestry for several generations,
both paternal and maternal, were natives of Edgecomb Province under the Colonial
government.
"Joseph Philips served as guide for the Continental forces and participated
in the Battle of Kings Mountain. Mathew Philips, brother of Joseph Philips,
commanded a regiment of troops and died preceeding the Battle of Kings Mountain,
from an overdraught of water."
Joseph Philips served as Justice for Davidson County in 1796.
Joseph Philips was born in Edgecomb County NC, Oct 31, 1763; died in Davidson
County, TN May 22, 1832; married 1785, Milbrey Horn, born in Edgecomb

died in Davidson Co TN, Jan 19, 1859; married Feb 11, 1807, William Williams,
born April 15, 1776, died March 6, 1862.

1811. Henry Horn Philips, born Sept 5, 1797; died Oct 4, 1816, unmarried.
Margaret "Peggy" Thomas Philips, born Sept 20, 1799, died ___, 1844; married,
1815, Josiah Fredrick Williams.
Joseph Hooper Philips, born Jan 2, 1803, died in infancy.
William Duncan Philips, born June 1804, died June 5, 1879; married, first,
1825, Susan B. Clark; died without issue, married second, 1828, Eliza Dwyer,
born Aug 3, 1801, in Ireland; died Nov. 10, 1871.
The homestead of Joseph Philips, six miles north of Nashville, TN., was known
as "Sugar Tree Grove." He and his family are buried in private burial ground
on his home place.
--------The above-listed Philips family is not connected
(that I know of) to my Ezekiel Phillips, born 1778 in MD and was in
Robertson County by early 1800's; however, Ezekiel's son, Preston D. Phillips,
born 1820 in Sumner County was married in 1835 to Amanda Appleton in Davidson

From: McAfre@aol.com
To: Genny1
A message was forwarded to the Horn-L with your message referring to Milbry
Horn. My Horn connection is with Rhoda Horn, Daughter of Elijah Horn, Edgecomb
County, NC. Rhoda married Mercer (Messer) Ward, date not know, by the early
1800s they were living in Middle Tennessee. Militias Lists and land records
place them in Stewart County by 1812. Their daughter was Wealthy Ward m.
John Weatherford with children Wiley and Milbry. By the 1820s, Wealthy had
moved to Hickman Co, Kentucky; her parents soon followed. (John had fought
in the War of 1812, and the Indian Wars; then there is no known information.)
I have read but not confirmed that Elijah Horn and Henry Horn, JR. were brothers;
can you provide a source for confirming this information?
Would you know of someone who would be willing to check on the marriage of
Wealthy and John Weatherford? In exchange, am willing to check the Library
of Congress, National Archives and DAR library (I live in Northern Virginia).
I am in the process on computerizing my information which I have inherited
from my sister and a cousin. I am drowning in unorganized papers! .....
I have gathered from the National Archives any possible relevant information
with Ward and Horn on the War of 1812 and Indian Wars; if I can assist you
in any way, please notify me.

The Williamson County (TN) Web Page
has a new URL or address. It should now be easier for individuals to search
and find it. The new address is:
http://www.tngenweb.usit.com/williamson/
The primary reason for the change was that the old file name was shortened
to "williams" so that when anyone searched for "williamson" county it did
not show up. Now hopefully it will.
If you havn't checked it out yet do so. It is very at this time but will
be added to next week.

I am searching for and any information on my gg grandfather, Marcus BOYD,
born in Tennessee ca 1822. He married Sarah Jane BALLENTINE in Montgomery,
TN on 9 Feb. 1850.
Children:
John C. BOYD, b. Nov/Dec 1850 TN
(daughter) BOYD, b. 15 Aug. 1853 Trigg Co. KY (died at birth)
Margaret E. BOYD, b. 16 Aug. 1854 Trigg Co. KY
William L. BOYD, b. 9 Apr. 1855 McCracken Co. KY
Charles BOYD, b. 21 May 1857 McCracken Co. KY
Luther BOYD, b. 1 Sept. 1861 McCracken Co. KY
Sarah probably died shortly after Luther was born. I do not know where or
when Marcus died. I have only their marriage record, the birth records and
the 1860 census of McCracken Co. KY.
My great grandfather, John C. BOYD, married Nancy HALL, 22 Jan.1877 in Montgomery
Co. TN. John and Nancy and two of their children, Edward Lee BOYD, and Andrew
Thomas BOYD, are listed on the 1880 census of Cheatham Co. TN. They
returned to the Lovelaceville area of Ballard/McCracken Co. KY ca 1882 and
John died there the winter of 1887-88.
I have found two other Marcus BOYD's; one married Eliza HAMILTON in Williamson
Co. TN in 1825 and later moved to MO and the other married a Margaret BOYD
in Trigg Co. KY in 1857, neither appear to be directly connected to my gg
grandfather.
Any information would be most appreciated.

I am interested in the Ussery's and the Rushing families of Tennessee.
Hutchin(s) was born about 1798 in Montgomery Co. N.C. and died in Giles Co.,
Tn about 1836. He was married to Francis "Fannie" Rushing about 1813 or 1814.
He was found as head of household in Perry Co.,Tn in 1820 census.
Fannie Rushing was supposed to have a brother Burrel Rushing. Nothing could
be found on him.
I can find information on the children but not on the parents Hutchin(s)
and Frances (Rushing) Ussery.
Thank you for any help on any information that anyone can find.

the family and it is believed that there is/was a Mullin Castle in Ireland

I glanced through the many e-mails and did not see any information on the
Texas Mullins. I only saw one Mullin mentioned that migrated to Oklahoma.
This is where David Franklin came from. I would have to call the family and
get more specifics. If you are interested please e-mail me and I will see

no maiden name known. William was suposed to have been killed in the civil

Genny,
......... I have many families well-rooted in Tennessee: Maxwell, Lynch,
Shetters, Aldridge, Denny, Knight, Hopkins, Rose, Shanks, Scudder, Pippin,
Pearson, Patton, Maddux, Stallins, and others.
I am currently stuck on my Maxwell line with Samuel Maxwell (b 1781 VA)
who married Martha Patton (b 1780 VA) in 1802 in Montgomery Co., VA.
Sometime before 1809 he moved to Jackson (now Putnam) Co., TN, where
he remained until his death in 1848.
I have info on his descendants, but none on his parents or siblings,
or even where in VA he was born or why he came to TN. He probably had
family in TN, as there were several Maxwell families there at that
time, and I know we are related to the Maxwells of the Maxwell House Hotel.
I have been researching the family of David Maxwell and Nellie McCullough
who came from Lancaster, Pa to VA. It is their children who were some
of the first settlers of TN. They had sons:
Jesse Maxwell, Sr.,
George Maxwell,
David Maxwell
and possibly James Maxwell (?),
and a daughter, Jean Maxwell, who married Thomas Sharp,
another daughter, ___ Maxwell who married a Mr. Agnew,
and another daughter ____ Maxwell who married a Mr. Wallace.
There could have been other children as well.
George Maxwell was prominent in the Hawkins Co., TN area.
There was another Maxwell family in the same general area at about the
same time. The parents are supposed to be John Maxwell and Mary "Polly"
Campbell (no proof of this yet).
Their children consisted of sons,
Jesse Maxwell,
George Maxwell, and
David Maxwell
(all Rev War soldiers)
and a daughter, Rebecca Melissa Maxwell, who married John Anderson
(who built the Block House).
My dilemma is this - the info I have found about George Maxwell in and around
Hawkins Co., TN seems to be claimed by both families as "their" George
Maxwell. Very confusing.
Any light you can shed on this would be most helpful. Maybe you could
direct me to someone who thoroughly knows early TN history, or at least
the history of Sullivan and Hawkins counties.
Thanks, Judy

Hi!
l read your home page. l am trying unsuccessfully in trying to locate the
ancestory on my dad's side of the family.
He was part Indian either Cherokee or Choctaw and we think was born in 1889
either in Arkansas or Oklahoma.
His name was Elsworth Goodman. He is my dad's dad
(Sherman Wesley Goodman born in Shawnee Oklahoma in 1919)
Elsworth married my grandmother on Aug 10 1916 and her maiden name was
Etta Florence Slade.
She born in Mississippi 1899 and died in 1968 in Nampa, Idaho at the
age of 69.
Elsworth Goodman died in July 1927 in Shawnee Oklahoma and buried in a paupers
grave (died from TB ); dumped on the lawn of the Veterans home by a friend.
His family left him in 1926 and my grandmother and 3 children came to Idaho.
Was told that his records if any might be on the Indian Reservation.
Would appreciate information on how to find information about him?
Thank you,
Sincerely,
FooFooFem1@aol.com
