Subj: queires Date: 98-02-06
From: GatTenn@aol.com
I am looking for information on John HATFIELD of Campbell County, TN.
He was my 5 X great grandfather. Apparently he moved there from Russell Co.,
VA.
I have no info on wife/wives. Number of children? 15-22, apparently married
at least twice. Some of children:
Andrew Warren HATFIELD,
Ale HATFIELD,
Reuben HATFIELD,
William HATFIELD,
Joseph HATFIELD,
Ephriam HATFIELD, (possibly Anderson's "Devil Anse" great grandfather. Need
proof of that),
Nancy HATFIELD,
Sarah/Susan HATFIELD,
Jerimaih (Jerry) HATFIELD ( my 4 x great grandfather.)
Would like all the info I can get on John HATFIELD: Wives, any other children,
who Ephriam married and if he is really Anderson's gr. grandfather.
Am also researching family of Andrew Jackson WILLIS (Del Rio, Cocke County, TN) and Leah CROOK WILLIS. Leah was from GA and her father's name was Tom CROOK. Don't know mother's name. I THINK they were originally from NC.
Callie SPURGEON LOVEDAY and husband Eli LOVEDAY. Both born 1861. Eli died
in 1917 and Callie in 1918 and I guess they died from the flu epidemic that
winter. They are buried in Sevier County, TN. Don't have months and dates
of births or deaths. Have names of some of their children:
Jessie James LOVEDAY,
Dalton LOVEDAY (buried Thomas Cem. Sevier County),
Ada LOVEDAY,
Etta/Etter LOVEDAY,
Winnie LOVEDAY,
Lloyd LOVEDAY,
Dicie LOVEDAY (my paternal grandmother).
Can get other names, as there were 9 children in all.
Family of Andrew Johnson KELLY. Married Sarah Elizabeth BIRD, Dau. of Michael BIRD and Jane Reinhart (Sp.) BIRD. AJ and Sarah buried at Burchfield Cem. in Sevier County. Need his parent's names.

Dear Genny:
I really appreciate folks like you who work so hard and then share your work
with others like me who are too lazy too busy. The Pyles family (alternate
spellings: Piles, Pyle, etc.) showed up in Marshall County in the early 1880s.
Levi Pyles was my great, great, grandfather. He was killed by an unknown
person and buried in an unmarked grave near Delina, TN. It seems that they
may have come to TN from Orange County, North Carolina.
We have been unable at this point to make a direct connection between
the N.C. family and the TN group.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. As you can tell, I am a novice
in the area of genealogy.
Thanks!

From: Carolezoom@aol.com
Hey Shamrock!
Since you mention being from Erin, I will .. send this on to you..
My father (Malcolm Robert Patterson) recenly died, leaving us a farm called
"The Boone Farm" outside of Erin, TN.
My father was born in 1935 in Humphreys Co. (Waverly, later raised in McEwen,
TN).
My gfather was Malcolm Rice Patterson b. around 1900 (known as Ham, later
ran a quarry/rock crusher in McEwen and laid roads in Dickson &
Humphreys Co and in Oak Ridge, TN), his brother was Strat Patterson (later
of Waverly)
My ggfather was David Patterson (lumberjack/millsman) m. to Ollie Boone,
lived in the log cabin in Houston County. I remember as a kid the log cabin
and creek on the farm. We now have what's left of their cabin on the property
outside Erin, TN
I have seen that there is a place south of Erin called Boone's Hollow and
east of Erin called Patterson Hollow and there is a Patterson Branch creek
nearby too.
We are trying to make the Patterson/Boone connection and to which Boone.
Anything you can add would be helpful.

Hello,
I appreciate the work you are doing with genealogy. I am glad I happened
upon you. I live in Ohio and therefore it is hard to research in another
state without going there.
I am looking for information on James SPEARS, s. of Marian SPEARS and Alice
GIBBS SPEARS.
James Spears, my grandfather lived in Montgomery County, Tn., in or around
a place called Needmore, and Cumberland City. It is thought, however, that
he was born, North in Kentucky. James died in l950.
He was mar. to Minnie Leah GRIZZARD SPEARS, with whom he had 12 children.
James was said to have been half Indian. My dad says James was in his upper
70's when he died. That would have him being born, possibly in the mid or
upper l870's. I went to the Montgomery Co. Courthouse, and learned that all
the records had been sent to Nashville, and that there had been a fire and
burnt down the old Montgomery Co. Courthouse.
I would be so happy for any help that you can give me.

BROWN, STAFFORD, GOOLSBY, FOX, BYERS, ALEXANDER,

Subj: Re: Brown/Stafford Family Date: 98-02-24
From: BROWN ETAL@aol.com
Genny1,
I was reviewing some old aol queries and ran on to your letter.... This is
where I'm at at this time.
My name is Kenny Brown and I reside in Xenia, Ohio. Since 1985, I have been
working on my familys genealogy and have been quite successful. However,
I have stumbled at times, and this seems to be one of those times.
This letter is in regards to the Brown\Stafford family.
The individual I am seeking is named John C. Brown. He was born 18-October-1862
in Jackson County, Tennessee. He was the son of Josiah and Elizabeth Sarah
(Goolsby) Brown and he had seven siblings:
James Madison Brown bn.1855 married to Altha Fox
Richard Alexander Brown bn. 1857 married to Emma Fox
Mary Frances Brown bn. 1860 married to Shields Byers
John C. Brown bn. 18-October-1862 married to Adeline Stafford on 21-June-1893
Willis Woodfork Brown bn. 8-March-1866 married to Charlotta Alexander
Martilia Brown bn. 1868 died 1871
Andrew Jackson Brown bn. 1872 and married Alabama Kansas McBroom
Sarah Elizabeth Brown bn. 1874 and married Herbert Lester Harley
The entire family, except for James and Willis, journeyed to Greenville,
Missouri; Wayne County in 1893 to build a Baptist Church.
After the great flood in Missouri and the death of the majority of the family,
they once again relocated. Most of the family, those who survived the flood
and sickness, uprooted and moved to Weatherford,Texas Parker County.
In the "1900 Wayne County, Missouri Census" John and Adeline were reported
as having three children; Mary in 1894, Henry, 1897 and Sarah, 1899. It is
at this time that I lose track of John and his family.
If you have any information regarding this family, could you please send
it to me. I have included my address and telephone number at the bottom of
this letter. I will appreciate any information you can give me to help with
my research.
Also, if you are interested, I have quite a bit of documented information
on the Browns of Jackson and Putnam Counties and would gladly send
it to you if you are interested...
Thanks again!

William Eddins Sr. belonged to the family of Eddins of castle Eden,

daughter of Robert and Rebecca Chandler of London , England. Rebecca Chandler's

Eddins Sr. The couple are said to have married at the same time in England,
and then migrated imediately to the New World. They eventually settled in
Wilson Co. TN. around 1805. I know Tom Partlow had made a trip to England
. He probably got his information from same papers that Malcolm Hooker did
in Library in Nashville. Those attachments I sent tell of the papers and
where they are and who wrote them.

Would anyone have any ideas on how I could find the maiden name of my great
grandmother? Here is the problem....
James B. Henley (Henly) born about 1854 in Bedford Co. TN married Susan B.
on Nov. 6, 1875 in Bedford Co. TN. J. W. Harmon was the security.
I found a copy of their marriage record in the Allen County Library in Ft.
Wayne, IN but Susan's last name was illegible so I immediately wrote to the
county clerk in Bedford Co. for a copy of the original. Much to my
disappointment, the clerk sent me a copy of the original with a note saying
that the last name was illegible. Now I have no further ideas.
My great grandparents had at least two sons. One son was William Bert Henley
who was born 26 Apr. 1876 in Shelbyville. Another son, Benjamin Henley, was
born about 1878.
I would be happy to share other Henley data with others.
Thanks in advance.

Subj: Genealogy questions Date: 98-02-27
From: MCampen@aol.com
Hi,
I was wondering if perhaps I might take up a few moments of your time for
some questions.
My ggg grandfather Benjamin Housden married 1814 in Rockingham County, VA.
My gg grandfather James was born there in 1815. They are in the Williamson
County Census 1820-1840. I believe that they moved sometime after 1840 to
Henry County TN. According to the census Benjamin had, we believe, 9 boys.
To date, we only have information and confirmation on one... my gg grandfather
James. We are at a loss where the other 8 males went to.
I have corresponded with a man that lives and writes info on Genealogy in
the Williamson County area, T. Vance Little. Much to my surprise, he had
always wondered who Benjamin was. He owed some money to a Jabez Owen when
he died. Corresponding with him, I gave him the info that Benjamin sold his
land in the 1840's to a Wyatt Ellis. We believe that the historic Wyatt home,
was Benjamin's. We have pretty much figured out the daughters, as they had
married and stayed in Williamson County, but the males have dazed and confused
us.
I found a article about a Sarah Housen (notice that the spelling is different)
that was the widow of a Dan, who was hung in the hog gallows on her farm
in 1873. Her son William C Housen and his wife Mrs. S.J. Housen were accused
of her murder. Sarah was the step-daughter of a Sterling Guy.
I think they might be us, considering that
1). I have a marriage record of a William C Housden and a Sarah J. Maxwell
1867 Davidson County, TN - versus William C Housen and a Mrs. S.J. Housen
1873.
2.) Sarah Housen lived on the Nolensville Pike 9 miles from Nashville- versus
Davidson County is in Nashville
3). The marriage record of my gg grandfather spells his name as Housen.
4) In 1873 Sarah was called a "aged lady" a Old lady, and gave the age of
60- versus the time frame for Benjamin's children.
5) Guy is a surname that we married into, both in Rockingham CO, VA and in
Williamson County, TN.
So given these five factors, I believe that they are related to the Housden
clan. Also, there is a family with the surname of Housen, from different
parts of the U.S. that have no connection to the Housden clan, so this is
very confusing.
I guess to make a long story short, I have to find some kind of record that
states Benjamin's children. We have a copy of his will index from Henry County,
TN in the 1850's. It just lists who bought what, and most are people that
we know of, so that has not been too much help.
The LDS has NOTHING <to help me> on Williamson County. Mr. Little commented
that Benjamin lived between two historical churches- The Liberty Methodist
and the Concord Baptist Church. He bet that Benjamin went to the Methodist
Church, as the Ellis family did, however, his grandson (my g granfather)
was a very devout Baptist.
Would you know where to write (I live in Washington State), or how I can
see if the church has any records from that time period. Or do you have any
other suggestions to help aid in the research of his children???
Sorry --- I just looked and I think I wrote a book!!! Thank you for your
time, it is much appreciated.
