Tenerys who fought in the Civil War

James Madison Tenery served under the great Nathan Bedford Forest. He was
General Forest's Chief Veterinary Surgeon and was still known as the "Horse
Doctor" in Bunker Hill as of 1957.

Pleasant H. "Doc" Tenery served in the battle of Chicamagua, where he lost
his life.

Edwin K. P. Tenery served in the Company C 3rd Tennessee Infantry under
Captain Dave Rhea. He was taken prisoner twice at Camp Douglas, a terrible
Yankee Prison Camp. Upon release he made his way home to Giles County on foot.
These were three of William Tenery's sons. William came to Giles County around 1800.
