Last Will and Testament
of William T. Abernathy

		WILL  OF  WILLIAM   T. (OR  F)   ABERNATHY
		LUNENBURG COUNTY VA     WILL BK #8   PG 486 
		PROVED AUG 1826
In the Name of God Amen. I William T (or F) ABERNATHY of the County 
of Lunenburg in the State of Virginia do make this my last will and
testament in the manner following.

First Section. I give to my sister Martha E. SMART all my portion or
interest in the estate of Adams (?) FISHER dec'd and in the concern
of Fisher J. ABERNATHY to her and her heirs.

Second Section. I give to my sister Eliza C. ABERNATHY all my interest
in my grandfather William Fisher dec'd Estate to her and her heirs.

Third Section. I desire that my land in Dinwiddie County be sold upon 
Twelve Month Credit and the proceeds of such sale to be applied to
the education of my two nieces Ann Elizabeth and Harriet Blackwell
daughters of my sister Polly Ann BLACKWELL.

Fourth Section. I give to my brother Turner ABERNATHY all my slaves
namely Jenny, Joe, Clay, Ann, Amy and David.

Fifth Section. All my personal estate to be sold on Twelve Month Credit
and to be applied to the payment of my just debts and if any
surplus from such sale after the payments of my debts, I give such
surplus to my brother Turner ABERNATHY. If the said personal estate
should prove insufficient for the payment of my debts that such 
deficiency to be made from the sale of one or more of my negroes.

Sixth Section. I nominate and appoint my brother Turner ABERNATHY and
Daniel DALY Executors to this my Last Will and Testament which I have
hereunto set my hand and offered my seal this 30th day of July 1825.

In Lunenburg County Court of August 1826 the within Last Will and
Testament of William T (or F) ABERNATHY dec'd was presented in Court
and the same was proved by the oath of two of the witness.

There of subscribed an account to be recorded and Daniel DALY one of
the executors named in said will in open court declared the he would
not take upon himself the execution therein.

Last Will and Testament
of Liles Abernathy

MECKLENBURG  VIRGINIA
In the name of GOD amen I  LILES ABERNATHY of MECKLENBURG COUNTY AND THE 
STATE OF VIRGINIA being in sound mind and memory do make and constitute 
this my last will and testaent revoking all others heretofore made by me 
in the manner and the following

I lend to my beloved wife Betsey ABERNATHY during hrer natural life all the
slaves that come to me from the estate of John TARPLEY ... Tom ... Phillis ...
Lucinda ..Drury ..Ned..Lisa..Ephraim..Harriet.and Sally two beds and furniture,
two heads of horses..Parot and Paddyone third part of my stock of cattle, 
hogs and sheep and one third part of all my household and kitchen furniture
and plantation utensils exclusive of the beds and furniture before disposed
of. I also lend to my wife Betsey ABERNATHY the part of my land that the 
mansion house stands on bounded as follows..beeginning at the mouth of the 
creek then up the branch north to William Toones line then north at William 
Toones line to Tucker's Road ..with Tucker's Road to Tabbs Road thence with 
Tabbs Road to Cox Creek thence with Cox Creek to the beginning..during her 
natural life and at her death the land with such stock above listed to be 
sold and the money arising from such sale to be equally divided between my  
sons Burwell and William and the children of my deceased son Jessee Abernathy. 
It is my will and desire that my wife Betsey ABERNATHY be furnished out of 
my estate sufficient quantity of meat and corn to serve herself and family 
for one year. I give to my son Burwell ABERNATHY the following slaves ..Dick
..Stephen..Cate..Tom Scott to him and his heirs forever. I give to my son 
William ABERNATHY the following slaves Annica..Siller..Jack..Silvey and Billy
to him and his heirs forever  I give to the children of my deceased son
Jessee ABERNATHY..Liles EDWARDS..William Daniel and Elizabeth the following 
slaves Daniel..Clarey..and Cloe to them and their heirs forever I give to 
Liles E. Abernathy one horse called Ribbonto him and his heirs forever It is 
my desire that all my estate both real and personal not heretofore mentioned 
be sold and the money arising from such sale be equally divided among my sons  
Burwell and William and the three children of my deceased son Jessee ABERNATHY 
after paying all my just debts and funeral expenses and I do hereby appoint
and constitute my son Burwell ABERNATHY the sole executor to this my last will 
and testament In witness wherof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my 
seal this Nineteenth Day of December One Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirteen
