I'm searching for the gravesite of my great-great-uncle, J. Lafayette HOVEN, who died in Chattanooga on August 3, 1862. He was a Confederate soldier at the time, serving as a private in Co. H of the 32nd Alabama Infantry. His service records state that he became ill and died in Chattanooga, so I do not think his death was the result of injuries recieved in the Civil War. He was from Clarke County, Alabama. Thanks for any help or guidance on locating him.

I am searching for JOHN ROBINSON b. abt 1820 d. bef 1860. He was married to NANCY WILLIAMS, b. Apr. 27, 1822 , died June 11, 1902. She was the daughter of JOHN WILLIAMS , and his wife RUTH. They had a son named JOHN HARLOW ROBINSON, who was married to TABITHA CAMPBELL. They also had a daughter that was my grandmothers, grandmother. Her name was NANCY MIRANDA ROBINSON. She was born in 1839, Hawkins, County, TN. SHe died April 16, 1916, @ Corbin, Whitley County, KY. MIRANDA was also known to go by NANCY, her first name. My grandmother died the day before Christmas eve last. NANCY MIRANDA has been a "strange bird to track"! Apparently she married ELI HOWELL , March 1, 1856, in Jefferson County, TN. She & ELI HOWELL apparently had a son, ROBERT HOWELL. The marriage did not last long [ no divorce has been found to date ]. ROBERT HOWELL was born abt. 1856. However by Nov. 29, 1858 , in GRAINGER COUNTY, TN., she remarried my G/G grandad, DUNCAN HASH [1838/40 -1900/10 ], who had just ended a brief marriage himself, in Whitley Co., KY. ! They are both buried in Corbin, Ky., but even they were seperated in their last years. I believe Nancy Miranda was hiding her 1st child from his father [ ELI HOWELL ]. After she moved to Whitley Co., Ky., with her second husband, she is found in the next county [ Knox Co., KY.} on the 1860 census. They had lived in Grainger COunty, Tn., in Oct. 1859, when my great grandad, JOHN HASH [1859/1935 ] was born. After 1860, the Howell child is not found. I believe Eli Howell "collected" his son. A older brother of my grandmother's was in his 90's when he died. He told me of a trip to the Morristown , Tn., area as a very young man. There his father introduced him to a "uncle he had never heard of before"! This uncle was involved in some sort of wood business. Was this the missing child "Robert Howell"? My great uncle could not remember any more info about the meeting. NANCY MIRANDA ROBINSON HOWELL HASH went onto have 11 more children with her 2nd husband, most of which migrated to Eureka, California in the early 1900's. I am looking for this JOHN & NANCY WILLIAMS ROBINSON family, as well as ANY info possible about this missing ELI HOWELL, the son, ROBERT HOWELL, and any thing connected to this enstranged family. PLEASE!!!! If you know anything, or are connected to this family, PLEASE CONTCT ME!? I will share all I have. STEVEN H. ALSIP, 1897 5th street road, Corbin, Ky., 40701-9590, 606/523-2700

On Aug 30, 1997, I found in a Book "Murder, Mayhem, and More" by Ms Euline Harris that Doll Teague died in May 1898 in a mine. The article was blurred and the article wasn't specific about the location of the mine. Doll/Dolphus Teague died May 1898 in a coal mine in Whitwell/TRACY City, MarionCo., TN.. He lived for several hours and talked with his family. He was survived by a widow and 4 children. I have not been able to find the family together anywhere. I found both Hannah and Doll/Dolphus at age 21 on the 1870 Marion Co Census but I haven't found them for 1880 and no information on the Children of this couple, my great grandparents. RIGGS, OVERSTREET Looking for info on my ggrandparents, Samuel E. RIGGS and Fairbie Ann Melvina OVERSTREET RIGGS. Although they lived in Harriman (Roane co) they were married 1/15/1889 in Sunbright, tn at the Byrd baptist Church by Rev B. Summers. From here my info runs out. Would like to trace Samuel's parents (no info) and Fairbie's parents: William calvin OVERSTREET and Mary A SEATON (could be Menorva ODUM?) who came from Kentucky. Fairbie was born 7/18/1871 in metcalfe co, Ky, but christened at the Missionary Baptist Church at Riggs chapel near Harriman Junction, Tn. I'm presuming William & mary OVERSTREET move to roane county sometime after 1871. Should be some local info as Riggs chapel infers a long-time family. Samuel died 3/16/1946 in Soddy, Tn. Fairbie RIGGS died 11/24/1945 in Daisy, Tn. Both are both buried in Riggs cemetary, mays valley, tn (no idea of which county). Also, am told Samuel RIGGS spent some time in prison for killing a man who trespassed on his property. Children I remember are William Delmar RIGGS (my grandfather), Walter RIGGS ( an insurance and medicine man), Johnny RIGGS and Stella RIGGS. There are six other children whose names I don't know. I do remember a cousin? of my grandfather, Thelma hutchinson from Soddy-Daisy who sang at my grandfather's funeral around 1972.

I'm looking for information on KIMSEY, specifically, Elizabeth Ella Kimsey, nee Abernathy, b. 1/31/1872, Cherokee County, NC died Oct. 24, probably in the 1950s sometime. Also, Agnew (or Angeu) Cortney Kimsey, b. 11/111865, Cherokee Co., NC died June 21, 1934. Originally from Cherokee County, NC, they lived in Chattanooga at the end of their lives. Some records indicate they died in Bradley County, but I can't find supporting docs. I am eager to learn more about the TENER/TEENOR and the LUTTRELL families, both found in Hamilton Co., TN. My direct ancestor, Jacob TENER married Esther GIBSON, daughter of Capt. James GIBSON and Anne HUSTON of Knox Co., TN, on 22 June 1803. Apparently Jacob and Esther moved to Hamilton Co. about 1830 and she was found as a widow in that county 9 Sep 1840. One of their daughters, Isabella, was married about 1832 to Col. Caswell D. LUTTRELL. I can't yet prove that Isabella had a brother, James, but there was a Col. James G. TEENOR who married one of Caswell's sisters, Louisa, so I believe there is definitely a family relationship. Any info regarding these families will be appreciated. ( After Nov. 1 my e-mail address will be fenyk006@maroon.tc.umn).

Need birth and marriage information on Nathaniel G. SIMPSON and Nancy M. SMITH. Nathaniel was born 7 Dec 1824, in Tennessee, and died in McLain, Oklahoma, in Dec 1897. He married Nancy in 1847 in Tennessee. She was born in abt 1830 in Tennessee and died in McClain, Oklahoma, 20 Oct 1899. They lived in Crosstimbers, Hickory Co., Mo., from mid-1800s until about 1890. Then went on to Eastern Oklahoma. One or both were Chickamauga Cherokee Indian. They may have left Tennessee when the Chickamaugas were expelled. The Trail of Tears has a path near Crosstimbers, Mo. Nathaniel was a blacksmith in Crosstimbers.
