TODD and his wife Mary. Her race is listed as Mulatto. I believe that Dora BATTLE is the same Dora listed on the 1900 census of the same county. Looking at her picture, she is definately mixed. She is believed to be of Cherokee decent. Here is the info on the 1900 Census of Hamilton County, Tennessee.

I am looking for any information on Fred MILLER, born 7-12-1890 in Chattanooga Tennessee. He married Grace Mae JOHNSON in Augusta GA. November, 1920. His Military record is as follows: Pvt. My mother, Agatha M. BRIDGEMAN, was born on Lookout Mountain, somewhere around 1908 - 09. Her father was Herman BRIDGEMAN. She had a brother and a sister (older? younger? I'm not sure). I'd like to find out something about Herman BRIDGEMAN. Who was he married to? When was he born? When did he die? Who were his kids and their kids. How did he make a living. etc. Mom said they lived on a farm on Lookout Mountain. Herman bred horses and mules that he jobbed out to the loggers. Beyond that, I don't know a thing. I found a reference to a Herman BRIDGEMAN referenced to the Tennessee microfilm records of the 1910 Census. Any assistance you can provide would be appreciated.

I am looking for the parents of Dora MILLER born June,1859 somewhere in Georgia. Here is the information I have found on the 1900 census of the Hamilton County, Chattanooga, Tennessee: George MILLER was the deceased husband of Dora MILLER. Dora MILLER born June, 1859 (head of houshold) 40yrs(widow). Sofine MILLER born May,1882 (son) 18yrs Fred MILLER born July, 1889 (son) 10yrs Eugene MILLER born March, 1892 (son) 8yrs Mary MILLER born October, 1898 (daughter) 1yr Daniel WALKER born, 1849 Virginia (boarder) 59yrs

Between 1898 and 1901 Daniel WALKER maried Dora MILLER and they had a daughter born, 1901. and her name is Viola (WALKER) CLAY (Clay being her married name) She was known as Aunt Odie by family members. Dora is believed to be of Cherokee descent. I am also trying to find out if Dora BATTLE and Dora MILLER are the same person. On the 1870 Census of Hamilton County,Tennessee, I see a Dora BATTLE, age eleven, listed as a domestic servant in the household of John M. TODD. She is listed as Mulatto, and also born in Georgia about 1859. The picture that I have of Dora MILLER, shows that she is definitely of mixed blood. Mary A. TODD - age 63; wife

I would like information on Charles HERRON who lived in Chattanooga, Hamilton Co. Tenn. in the late 1800's until his death in 1908. Charles HERRON seemed to have ran iron foundries there. I am trying to connect him to my family in Cincinnati Ohio. Charles was born in Ireland in 1844 and is found in the 1870 Hamilton Co. Ohio census living with my Gr-grandmother Ann (CONNELL) McCABE. Ann was first married to Patrick SMITH before she married Owen McCABE. I believe the HERRON family is related to either of the following Irish families in Cincinnati at the time: CONNELL; SMITH; McCABE; DONAHUE.

Also, in 1901 there was a Charles HERRON and Rose HERRON who were the godparents to my uncle Charles COURTOT. I believe these are children of Charles HERRON. If there are any descendants of Charles HERRON who could help me connect the HERRON's with my family please help. We have been led to believe they are related but I have never found the connection.
Thank You

My great grandparents were Russ MILLER and Belle (ROGERS) MILLER and lived in Soddy. Russ's dob is 2/22/1871 and Belle's dob is 10/7/1877. They had six children, of which two died (Russell and Oscar MILLER) and are buried in Soddy Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Soddy next to Martha M and William H MILLER (I'm not certain, but I assume Martha and William were relation to Russ's family.) With their surviving children (Nola, Bertha, Ester and Esker) they moved to Michigan around 1908/09 to find work in the coal mines. Russ's parents were James R MILLER and Lucy (possibly Louisa) MASTERSON who were married on 5/20/1869 in Hamilton County. I believe that James middle name was Ross and that is what he went by. I found on the 1880 cencus a Ross and Louiza MILLER having children named Julia, John, James, Russell and Mary who may possibly be James R MILLER's family. Belle's parents were William ROGERS and Elizabeth PENNY who were married on 8/11/1877 in Hamilton County. I'm searching for anyone who may know of these family lines or have any information about any of these people. I know that Russ and Belle left family behind when they moved from Soddy to Michigan. I believe the surname Manning may also be connected to the family. Any information or clues will be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am looking for structures that are still standing today that were present during the American Civil War in northern Hamilton County. Northern Hamilton County being defined as along and north of Soddy Creek and Igou Ferry. I am also interested in areas that the structure is not standing but it is known who lived there.

I am researching this part of the county and I want to construct a map of the residences, structures, and life in the area during the war.

I appreciate any help you can provide.
