When Mother was a child my GrandFather ran away and left

being a country girl did not know how to work outside the home
to earn aliving and times being very hard she could"nt get a
job
so she could support them so the State of Alabama stepped in
and
took the Children away from her and put them an orphanage.
They had Four Chidren Mary Magdalene, Martin Van Buren, Laura
Mae And Artice Irene Uncle Bud and my mother ran away from
the orphanage. They nearly starved todeath They stayed with

left My mother
In Atlanta, Georgia sick i9n the bed with no food or any
thing to keep
warm in the winter. If my mother had not been a fighter we
would
be here today. She got up out of sick bed and went to work
so that
we could survive. She later Moved to Knoxville,Tenn. My Dear
mother
Made up her mind no one was going take us from her so she
worked at
whatever she could get to do and by the grace of God we
Surived.
It was awfull hard on her and she spent a lot of time on her
Knee
Praying the the Lord would help her to raise her boys and He
did hear
and we are alive today because of The Lord and my Mother.
My Grand Mother Dovie came to Knoxville to take care of us
while mother
        worked.
