George Brown to Greene Moore- Bond

July 11, 1836


Bargained and sold to Greene Moore, all my land including the Mills and Iron Works and the place where I have heretofore lived, except one entry of twenty acres.  I therefore bind myself in the sum of $100 to make said Moore a good and sufficient title for said twenty acres as soon as the Grant issues from the state or if a plat and certificate are not sent to the Register, I am to transfer them to said Moore within four months.  I also bind myself  to repair and rebuild all of the said Iron Works and Mills and have them in good substantial working order for work and give said Moore full, free and quiet possession of the whole of said Water Works and free privilege of all the timber woods of said land immediately or by the 18th of this month and give full possession of the farm and other buildings as soon as the present crop can be taken  proper care of.  It is to be understood that said repairs are to be done as quick as the nature of the case will admit or in two weeks.  I am also expected to give in what pig metal I have at the forge at this time.  Signed: George Brown

George Brown to Greene Moore- Deed

July 11, 1836

This indenture made between George Brown of the County of Johnson and State of Tennessee and Greene Moore of the same, with the sum of $2300 in hand, does sell unto Greene Moore a parcell of land, being in said County of Johnson on waters of the Little Doe of Roan Creek, containing 68 and ¾ acres, being the same more or less as the Iron Works, Saw and Grist Mills and other improvements owned and occupied by sd Brown.  Also one other tract containing 50 acres covered by Grant No 16045.  Also one other tract containing six acres, beginning at a White Oak corner to the 30 acre tract covered by Grant No 16906.  Also one other tract containing 50 acres lying in the Sink Hole Mountain, beginning on a White Oak with Pointer's corner to Smithpeter and covered by Grant No 16044, the courses of all will appear more fully in said grants.  Signed: George Brown  Witness: Benjamin Wilson, Wm Griffith

Rufus Moore to Greene Moore- Bond

August 10, 1836

Know all men hereby that I Rufus Moore of the County of Johnson State of Tennessee have this day bargained and sold to Greene Moore of said county and state a tract of land in said county on the waters of Roan Creek being the place I formerly lived containing 141 acres for the sum of $200.  Now I therefore bind myself to make Greene Moore a good and sufficient title in fee simple for said tract of land within six months for the peformance of which I bind myself in the sum of $400.  Signed: Rufus Moore

Henry Kinnaman to Othenial Hiatt- Bond

September 16, 1836

State of Tennessee  County of Johnson  Know all men by these presents that I Henry Kinnaman of the county above named am held and firmly bound unto Orthenial Hiatt in the penal sum of $1000 for the payment of which will and truly be made and done I bind myself severally and firmly by these present, sealed with my seal and dated this 16th September 1836.


The condition of the obligation is such that whereas the said Henry Kinnaman has on sold unto the said Orthenial Hiatt four lots of land being in said county on the waters of Roanes Creek to wit one tract of five acres including a Saw and Grist Mill where said Kinnaman now lives (cont p 16) other tract including old saw mill at the mouth of the roaring fork adjoining the first parcel and joining John Musgrave's line.  Signed: Henry Kinnamon  Witness: ? Thomas Simpson to Right Moorland- Deed

April 19, 1836


This indenture made between Thomas Simpson, County of Warren, state of Tennessee and Right Moorland County of Ash, (cont p 24) state of North Carolina, inconsideration of the sum of $400, Thomas Simpson has sold to Right Moorland a parcel of land in Carter County, State of Tennessee described as follows: lying on Roan Creek, it being the same as Thomas Simpson sold to John Moorland and John Moorland sold to Right Moorland and gave title bond to make a good deed in 12 months dated February 13, 1825.  Witnessed by: William Dyer Joseph Robinson.  Beginning on the origional grant and a conditional line between John Moorland and Nancy Moorland, continuing on the original grant to a conditional line between Sarah Moorland and Nancy Moorland, containing 71 ½ acres.  Signed: Thomas Simpson  Witness: Albert Joseph Perkins  Joshua Perkin
