Samuel Dugger  B. 16 January 1806, and died 12 June 1890

Samuel Dugger married Hannah Potter a descendent of the Revolutionary War Soldier John Potter of  Mecklenburg county, North Carolina. John, for his Revolutionary War Service , had received hundreds of acres of land in NC and TN. The ancestry in the Dugger line can be traced back to Julius Dugger, who was of Scotch-Irish descent.  Julius Dugger arrived about 1766 and settled south of the Virginia Line. Julius had married Mary Hall of Rockbridge County, VA. It is known that Mary had a brother Sam and a brother George, who was killed by the Indians.

Samuel's brother John Dugger was married February 1, 1801, to Mary Ingle.  They had twenty children. He, his father and his uncle were with General Jackson in the battle against the Creek Indians at the Horshoe Bend in Alabama, March 27, 1814. John's rank was ensign which is comparable to 2nd Lt. He was discharged May 18, 1814, and again entered the service November 13, 1814 and fought in the great battle of New Orleans. The Duggers then acquired ownership of a large  iron forge in Johnson County known as Dugger's Forge.
