FERRIN HILL FAMILY

(This information on the Hill family was written down by William
Henderson Thomas, Jr. about 1950. As with any information, you must use
this as a basis for your own research.--typist)

Ferrin Hill, born May 12, 1842 at Lost Creek, Union County was the son
of Terry Hill and Jane (Jennie) Sharp. He married Elizabeth Snodderly
on March 14, 1880. He died January 4, 1922 and is buried in the
Longmire Cemetery (New Loyston Cemetery).

Elizabeth Snodderly was the daughter of Henry Rice Snodderly and Lucy
Irwin. She was born March 5, 1859 and died July 28, 1941 and buried at
the same cemetery as Ferrin.

Their children were: (All born at Lost Creek, Union Co.)
1. Sam Hill born Jan. 26, 1881
2. Hattie Hill born March 27, 1883 and married Sam Hill, son of Francis
Hill and grandson of Elijah.
3. Maude Hill born May 21, 1885 and died June 23, 1928. Married on
Dec. 18, 1904 to Will Henderson Thomas, Jr.
4. Lucy Coker Hill married to Oscar Walker
5. Ollie Hill married to Murphy Hamilton
6. E. Milt Hill married to Emma Bridges
7. Mossie Hill married to Henry Bledsoe
8. Altie May married to Bert Hodges
9. Reid Hill married to Mary Irwin.

TERRY HILL FAMILY

Terry Hill was born in Danbury, Stokes County, NC. He was the son of
Matthew Hill, Jr. . He died and is buried at the Lost Creek Cemetery.
(No dates or mother's name given.--typist) Terry was married to Jane
(Jennie) Sharp on Jan. 22, 1826.

Jane Sharp was the daughter of Henry Sharp 3rd and Elizabeth Black,
daughter of John Black. She is buried at Lost Creek Cemetery. (No
dates given--typist)

Their children were:
1. Parley Hill born about 1827 and married May 2, 1850 (Campbell Co.?)
to John Brantley. Daniel Brantley is of this line.
2. Tinnie Hill married 8-16-1849 to Joseph Brantley. Winfield Brantley
is of this line.
3. Sanford Hill born about 1831 and married Nov. 29, 1851 to Rebecca
Davis. Willie Lafayette Hill is of this line.
4. Oliver Hill 11 born Mar. 10, 1833 married to Mary Jane Williamson.
Marcus Hill is of this line.
5. Malinda Hill never married.
6. Elizabeth Hill born 10-1-1837 and died Feb. 7, 1918 . Married to
John B. Weaver born Aug. 22, 1836 and died June 16, 1914. Rev. M. B.
Weaver is of this line.
7. William Hill born about 1839 married Catherine Witt. "Blind" Elvin
Hill of this line.
8. Henry Hill born July 16, 1840 and died Feb. 23, 1916 married
Elizabeth Harden on Jan. 3, 1866. She was born Oct 22, 1841 and died
Jan. 4, 1896. E. Q. and M. U. Hill are of this line.
9. Ferrin Hill born May 12, 1842 and died Jan. 4, 1922 married
Elizabeth Snodderly on Mar 14, 1880.
10. Manon Hill born Jan. 15, 1844 and died Nov. 23, 1912, buried Lost
Creek. Married Lucy Witt born June 8, 1859 and died July 12, 1890.
Bertie and Maynard Hill are of this line.
11. Union Hill born Feb. 2, 1846 and died Dec. 11, 1943, buried Lost
Creek. Married Sarah Martin born Sept. 10, 1842 and died Aug. 31,
1920. Bart and Jim Hill are of this line.

MATTHEW HILL, JR.

Matthew Hill, Jr. was born about 1780 in Danbury, Stokes Co, NC. When
he died, Union Co. was part of Campbell Co. He is buried near Oakes
Chapel in Union Co. His father is Matthew Hill, Sr. Matthew, Jr.
married Mary "Polly" Moore about 1801 in Stokes Co. She was born in
Virginia. She is buried at the same place as Matthew.

Their children are:
1. Elijah Hill born July 20, 1801 in Danbury, Stokes Co, NC and died
July 21, 1869. He married Mary "Polly" Sharp, the daughter of Conrad
and Sarah (Gibbs) Sharp. Parlin, Worth, Merrill of this line.
2. Terry Hill born about 1804 in Stokes Co, married on Jan. 22, 1826 to
Jane Sharp.

3. Green Hill born Campbell (now Union) Co, TN married Elizabeth
Wilson. Hamilton Hill of this line.
4. Matthew Hill, 3rd. married Polly Wilson, sister of the above
Elizabeth. Vester and Dulin Hill of this line.
5. David Hill married Lucinda Henderson. Lem and Narvel Hill of this
line.
6. Oliver Hill (twin to Mahalah) born Jan 8 (overstrike on a 15), 1815
married Fannie Oakes. Isaac, Harvey, Marcus Hill of this line.
7. Mahalah (Haley) twin to Oliver married Nicholas Snodderly on Oct.
18, 1833. Twins born on same day as the battle of New Orleans. Mahalah
and Nicholas settled in Iowa.
