IRWIN FAMILY

Frances "Pioneer Frank of Forkvale" Irwin  was born about 1782 probably
in the Hoston River area. He married Nellie Lyons in about 1799.  Both
are buried in unmarked graves in Stout's Cemetery at Forkvale in
Campbell Co, TN.  Their children are as follows:  An * beside a name
means that their line will follow.  All the children were born in
Forkvale.

1.  John born 1800 and married to Jane Sharp, the daughter of William
"Station Bill"  Sharp and his wife, Rachel Stoner.
2.  Jane born 1802 and married to William "Station Bill" Sharp as his
second wife. Then "Station Bill" became a brother-in-law to his
son-in-law John Irwin.
*3.  Nathaniel "Than" Irwin born 8-19-1805 and died 2-3-1892.  Married
to Elizabeth Miller.
4.  Sherman Miller, a twin to "Than" never married.
5.  George Irwin born about 1807 married to Lucy Miller, the twin to
Elizabeth.

The father of Frances Irwin was Robert Irwin.  Robert Irwin was the son
of James Irwin of Watauga Settlement, whose will was probated in 1794 at
Jonesboro.  It shows a son named Robert.  Dr. J. P. Martin gave me this
information.  See "Tennessee Cousins" by Ray in records of Washington

NATHANIEL IRWIN

Nathaniel was born 8-19-1805 in Forkvale.  He died 2-3-1892.  He married
Elizabeth "Betsy" Miller in Knox Co. on 3-9-1831.  She was born
10-25-1814 in Maynardville, Raccoon Valley and died 2-28-1887.  She is
the daughter of John Miller, Jr. and Nellie Davis.  Their children are:

1.  Catherine Irwin married John Phillips.
2.  Unknown first name Irwin married G. W. "Wash" Baker.  Atty. Gen.
Howard Baker is a grandson.  Wash is the son of James F. Baker.
3.  Unknown first name Irwin married Houston Baker and lived at Baker's
Forge on Cedar Creek.
4.  Lucy Irwin born 1-30-1836 and died 8-12-1879 married Henry Rice
Snodderly on 3-5-1855.
5.  George Irwin married a Loy
6.  Jacob married a Nancy Dossett 12-14-1871.
7.  Francis "Frank" Irwin married Sarah Hill, the daughter of Parlin
Hill, Sr. on 9-4-1877 in Union Co, TN.  They lived and died in
Knoxville.
8.  John Irwin lived at Andersonville
9.  M. F. Irwin born 1-2-1842 and died 6-8-1902.  (This may be the one
who married Minerva McNew 7-13-1863 in Campbell Co.--typist)

As with all research, use this as a basis for your own research.  WHT
did not have the methods of research in 1950 that we have today.  A lot
