Deed of Conveyance from:
Benjamin F. Smith & Nancy Smith
To: Samuel Harris
December 22, 1880

State of Tennessee, Marion County.

We, Benjamin F. Smith and Nancy Smith, wife, have this day bargained and sold and do hereby transfer and convey to Samuel Harris, and his heirs forever, for the consideration of twelve hundred and fifty dollars to us in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged a certain tract or parcel of land in the State of Tennessee Marion County and District Number 5 containing by estimation Eighty acres, be the same more or less, and bounded as follows to wit:

Beginning at a stake and pointers at the East bank of Sequatchee River, it being the upper corner, of the old Maxwell lands, and the lower corner of the Thos. M. Smith lands, running thence up the river as it meanders N. 24 W. 14 poles thence N. 17 W. 22 poles to a stake on the bank of said river, with Elm Black oak, Hornbe[a]m, and [tis]-wood pointers thence leaving the river N. 37 E. 113 poles to a stake in an old field, near the top of the hill, thence S. 53 E. 109 and one third poles to a stake in the west boundary line of the Maxwell land, with Hickory, dogwood and persimmon pointers, thence along said line S. 21 S. 19 and four fifths poles to a poplar and pointers, thence S. 19 and four fifths degrees W. 47 poles to a water oak with pointers in the bottom, thence N. 87 W. 120 poles to the beginning.

To have and to hold the same to the said Samuel Harris, his heirs and assigns forever, we do covenant with the said Samuel Harris that we are lawfully seized of said land, have a good right to convey it, and that the same is unencumbered. We do further covenant and bind ourselves, our heirs and representatives, to warrant and forever defend the title to the said land, and every part thereof, to the said Samuel Harris, his heirs and assigns, against the lawful claims of all persons whatever. This the 22nd day of December A. D. 1880.
