This Indenture made the 13th day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand teight hundred twenty seven between John Overturf of the County of Marion State of Tennessee of the one part & David Stanfield of the County aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth for and the consideration of Two Hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid by said David hath bargained & sold and by these presents do bargain sell alien remise and convey to said David a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in Marion County of the waters of Battle Creek containing twenty two acres mBeginning on an elm Transell corner; thence with the mountain south eighty west nineteen poles to a dogwood; thence South sixty five ____ twenty eight poles to a sugar tree thence north eighty seven west twenty _____ to a stake thence eighty two west fifty six poles to pointers thence seventy three west twenty two poles to an hornbeam thence thirteen poles to a _____ one hundred and twenty four poles to a gum; then with said Trussell line thirty two to the beginning said land lays on Battle Creek to have and to hold said tract or parcel of land together with all and singular rights members and appurtenances the same belonging or any wise appertaining to the said David Stanfield his heirs and assigns forever and the said John Overturf for himself his heirs executors & administrators doth covenant and agree unto the said David Stanfield that the said bargained premises he will warrant and forever defend from him his heirs and assigns and other person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim In witness whereof the said John doth put his hand and seal the day and date above written

Then was the within deed from John OVerturf from David Stanfield for twenty two acres of land duly acknowledged in open Court by the said Overturf and ordered to be certified for registration. Given under my hand & Private seal (not having a seal of office in Jasper This 8th day of (L S) L828.
