Gordon W. Moree Sr, 71, of South Pittsbutg, Tenn., died Sunday in Sequatchie County Health Care Center. He was the first chief of police of the city of Jasper, Tenn., and later served as Marion County constable. He managed the General Dollar Store in Jasper before its closing, He was an all-star football player at Marion County High School and was of the Church of God faith. A lifelong resident of Marion County, he was the son of the late John Lee and Mary Jones Moree. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Michael H. (Linda) Foster, South Pittsburg; two sons, William R. and Gordon W. Moree, Jr., both of Jasper; sister, Zada Kennemore, Chattanooga; half-brother, J.W. Crutchfield, St. Petersburg, Fla; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2p.m. (CDT) Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Charles Kilgore officiating. Burial will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens. The family is receiving friends at Memorial Funeral Home, Kimball, Tenn.
