Harris Lafayette and Permelia (WHITE) GRIFFITH Family
Griffith Reunion
The annual family reunion of Harris and Permelia GRIFFITH was held at Jack’s Lake in the Griffith Community last Saturday, 26 August 20. It is always held the last Saturday in August every year. I can guarantee you Rodney Layman has it memorized. I don’t believe he has missed a one since they started 11 years ago.
It was a small crowd that gathered this year but they all came to see each other and talk of old times. Family histories were discussed and updated. Newest members were added. And there was even time for some fishing.
And talk about fishing, the great fisherman, Amber Layman, who will be 5 years old in November, showed her stuff. She caught a couple of big-mouth bass. One was a little more than she wanted to handle and she let her cousin, Joshua Stephenson, help reel it in. Folks, I thought about lighting a fire and eating bass there for a short time there. But Amber is one those that likes to catch and release for another day.
And talking about eating, after the Blessing, it got real quiet there for a little while. Victoria and Veronica Presnell kept eyeing my plate, but I barely had enough on it for me, so I hope they got enough on their plate for them. I heard a couple of people ask if they could have a piece of cake or pie to take home for later cause they had eh…… plenty…. And couldn’t hold any dessert. All I know is every bite I ate was of the finest quality and absolutely delicious.
There were 23 this year, seems like that’s the lowest we’ve ever had. They were Millard and Betty Layman, Rodney Layman, Steve and Robin Qualls, Austin Qualls, Roger and Angela Layman, Roger Layman, Holli Layman, Amber Layman, Ronnie Presnell, Victoria Presnell, Veronica Presnell, Jack and Avis Worley, Shirley Stephenson, Joshua Stephenson, Oma Griffith, Ollie Tate, Lloyd Tate, and Elbert and Hannah Griffith.
See ya Next Year, Rodney.
