Bray, Rev. Edward B., age 71, of 1311 Lafayette Road, Scottsville, KY, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005 at his residence. The Macon County, TN native was a retired employee of Bryants Heating & Cooling and a Pentecostal minister. He was a son of the late James Abe Bray and Estell Blankenship Bray. He is survived by his wife, Ann Bray, Scottsville; five sons and daughters-in-law, Matthew and Amy Bray, Ronnie and Patty Bray, Larry Bray, Murl and Dorothy Bray, all of Indianapolis, IN, Bill and Kim Bray, Scottsville; four daughters and sons-in-law, Pam Carrier, Shirley Plumber, Teresa and Mark Taylor, Joyce and Bruce Fields, all of Indianapolis; three step-daughters, Angie and Mary Both of Indianapolis and Leslie and Louisville, KY; two brothers, J.D. Bray, Louisville, KY and Carl Bray, Indianapolis, IN; one sister, Rosetta Light, Indianapolis; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and seven step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Vicki Bray. Funeral services for Rev. Edward B. Bray were held Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, 2 p.m. at Goad Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Hargis officiating. Burial was in Underwood Cemetery.
Zelda Brown, age 54, a resident of Carter Branch in the Hillsdale Community, died Wedneday, Dec. 22, 2004, at University Medical Center in Lebanon following a four-month battle with cancer. Services were conducted Sunday afternoon from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home and burial followed in Smith County Memorial Gardens. Bro. Buford Bane officiated at the 3 p.m. services. She was born Nov. 10, 1956 in Celina, TN, a daughter of the late Walter Freeman and Lilly Mae Evans Dulworth. She was married March 30, 1989 to Richard Glen Brown. He preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 2003. She was a lifelong farmer and member of Full Gospel Tabernacle Church in Lebanon. Surviving is her sister, Ruthie Newbitt and husband Robbie of Carthage; two brothers, Walter Dulworth and wife Ruby of Frankfort, IN and Billy Dulworth of Hillsdale. Sanderson of Carthage, directors.
Lola Kemp Gammon, age 101, of Madison, formerly of the Webbtown Community of Macon County, were conducted Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with Elder Jerry Shrum officiating. Her grandsons served as pallbearers. Interment was on Haysville Cemetery. Lola Kemp Gammon passed away Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005 at Imperial Manor in Madison, TN. A native of Macon County, TN, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Dora Cartwright Kemp. Her husband, Willie Gammon, preceded her in death in 1960. He was preceded in death by son, Willie Gammon, Jr.; sisters, Willie Mai smith, Edgie Holleman; brothers, Mindrem, Dodger, Felix, Ovelton and Coolidge Kemp. She was a homemaker and member of Sycamore Valley Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include daughter, Delcie Evetts, Madison, TN; sons, Othel and J.B. (Eva) Gammon, all of Old Hickory, TN; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Arrangements by Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home, Lafayette, TN.
Kenneth Leon Green, age 62, of Lafayette, TN, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2005, at Trousdale Medical Center, Hartsville. He is survived by four brothers, Lonzo Green, Springfield, OH, Malcolm R. Green, Lafayette, Robert Green, Springfield, OH, Roy Green, Hamilton, OH; two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Burns, Hamilton, OH and Mrs. Edna Ruff, Fairfield, OH. Funeral services were held in the chapel of Anthony Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, conducted by Bro. Bobby Flatt. Active pallbearers were Jimmy & Tony Green, Mike Blackwell and Josh Ruff. Interment was in Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Nashville, TN.
Nannette Houston, age 64, of 773 Spring Hill Road, Red Boiling Springs, TN, were conducted Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, 10 a.m. from the chapel of Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs with Reverend Dave Wilson and Bro. Larry Houston officiating. Pallbearers were Lee Stephenson, Anthony Tate, Rodger Stephen-son, Evan Dixon, Richard Houston, and Tree. Entombment followed at 2 p.m. in the Woodlawn Mausoleum in Nashville. Mrs. Houston passed away Friday, Dec. 31, 2004 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. A native of Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Joe Burns and Natalie Bernice Austin Hart. On April 20, 1991, she was married to Sidney Houston, who survives. She was a homemaker and member of Red Boiling Springs First Baptist Church. Survivors besides her husband include daughters, Carman Stephenson, Red Boiling Springs, Deborah (Mark) Strange, Louisville, KY, Sandra (Rick) Hoskins, Lebanon, TN, Evelyn (Rob) Dixon, Huntersville, NC; step-sons, Richard (Jeanie) Houston, Yadkinville, NC, Douglas (Lynn) Houston, Red Boiling Springs; brothers, Fred Rusha, Jr., Wichita, KS, Roy Rusha, Anderson, IN; 12 grandchildren. Dow Roy Miller, age 90, of Franklin, KY died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005 at the Medical Center in Franklin, KY. Funeral services were under the direction of Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home where services were held Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005 at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery. A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late William Henry Miller and the late Ninnie EveLee Bartley Miller. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Miller. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lorene Moore Miller; one sister, Marie Boston of Canton, OH; one grandson and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Miller was a member of East Side Missionary Baptist Church where he served as deacon, Simpson Benevolent Lodge #177. He was a self-employeed contractor.
Regina Ann Presley, age 52, of Castalian Springs, TN, died Friday evening, December 24, 2004, at University Medical Center, Lebanon,TN. She is survived by: husband, Raymond Presley, Castalian Springs, TN; 2 sons, Michael (Cherri) Presley, Flower Mound, TX, and David Presley, Wartburg, TN; 2 grandchildren; mother, Christine McKinney, Lafayette, TN; and 2 brothers, David (Emma) McKinney, Lafayette, TN, and John (Dianne) McKinney, Hartsville, TN. Funeral services were held in the chapel of Anthony Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2004, conducted by Bro. Gordon Lee. Honorary pallbearers were: James Celsor and Ray Henley. Active pallbearers were: Daniel & Mark Presley, Eric Calvert, Neil Miller, and Thomas & Tony Sullivan. Interment was in the Hartsville Memorial Garden.
Luna Hazel Stone, age 87, of Portland died Jan. 3, 2005 at Westmoreland Health Care. She was born April 14, 1917 in Macon County, TN, to the late Arthur Harrison and Sarah Ann Story. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Stone; brother, Hayden Marshall; and sister, Clemmie Brandon. She is survived by three sisters-in-law, Joan Marshall of Portland, Margaret Carr of Westmoreland, Mary Williamson of Westmoreland; two brothers-in-law, Wendell Stone of Westmoreland, and Hillis (Mary) Stone of Westmoreland; several nieces & nephews. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005 at Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home with Bro. Ernest Neagle, Bro. Gus Gregory and Bro. Clayton Hall officiating. Interment was in Eulia Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jimmie Heath, Tommy Keen, Joey Boyd, Larry Hinton, Bobby Hinton and Billy Thomas.
Dolores Taylor, age 72, of the Rocky Mound Community of Macon County, were conducted Thursday, December 30, 2004 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with Rev. Sam Smith officiating. Pallbearers were Billy Taylor, Gordon Taylor, Clint Taylor, Jimmy Brawner, Scott Hobdy and Glen Williams. Interment was in Anderson & Son Memorial Park. Dolores Taylor passed away Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin. A native of Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late John and Emma Lewis Richardson. She married Barney Taylor on Feb. 4, 1951 who survives. She was preceded in death by sisters, Frances Oliver, Mary Fletcher, Geraldine Ondra, Ona Mae Crumbaker; and brother, John C. Richardson. She was a homemaker. Survivors besides her husband of 53 years include: daughter, Carol Taylor, Westmoreland; son, James Taylor, Chandler, Arizona; sister, Dorothy Smith, San Diego, CA; and one granddaughter. Charles T. Witcher, age 64, of Jonesville Road, Columbus, IN, formerly of Red Boiling Springs, were conducted on Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. from the chapel of the Barkes, Inlow & Weaver Funeral Home in Columbus, IN with Joseph Casimier officiating. Graveside services were conducted Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. from the Whitley Cemetery in Red Boiling Springs under the direction of the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs. Charles T. Witcher passed away Thursday, December 30, 2004 at the St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, IN. A native of Jackson County, TN, he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Nettie Collins Witcher. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Roy Witcher. He was married to the former Brenda L. Gentry on April 15, 1995, who survives. He was the owner & operator of Axsom Plumbing with 40 years of service and a member of the 25th Street Church of Christ. Survivors besides his wife include: daughters, Tracy E. Welsh, Greenwood, IN, Rhonda Taft, Nashville, TN; sisters, Nell Lancaster, Columbus, IN, Sue Plumlee, Culver, IN, Ruth Witcher, Red Boiling Springs, TN; and four grandchildren.
