Doris Brown Cave, 97, of West Baden, Indiana, passed away Friday, September 16, 2005 at Paoli Health and Living Community in Paoli, Indiana. A native of Orange County, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Louis A. Brown and Sarah Ida Pruett Brown. She was an accomplished horseback rider. She and her husband both owned show horses. They both showed their horses in many Tennessee Walking Horse shows. In addition, they enjoyed their travels to Florida, Lafayette, Tennessee, Fort Collins, Colorado, and the West Coast. She had been a long time employee as a desk clerk of the Old Homestead Hotel in West Baden. In addition, she worked at the French Lick Hotel Dress Shop for many years. She was a member of West Baden United Methodist Church and a 1926 graduate of Orleans High School. She was united in marriage to William Cave in 1956, and he preceded her in death in 1965. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Louie P. Brown and 2 sisters, Alleyne and Harriett Brown. She is survived by sons, Rex Wells, Fort Collins, Colorado; Lafayette Mayor Bill Wells, and his wife, Sally, Lafayette, TN; Step-daughter, Mary June Nordhoff, Jasper, IN; a niece, Anne Marie Brown Justice, Bloomington, IN; 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Funeral services for Doris Brown Cave were conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, September 19, 2005 at T. L. Pinnick Mortuary in French Lick, Indiana with Rev. Terry L. Pinnick officiating. the Hermitage Springs Community in Clay County, TN were conducted Tuesday
morning, September 20, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of the Phillip
Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs with Dewayne Fox
officiating. His family and friends served as pallbearers. Interment
followed in the Smith Chapel Cemetery. Lanes Ford was pronounced dead
on arrival Saturday morning, September 17, 2005, at the Cumberland River
Hospital in Celina, TN. A native of Clay County, TN. He was the son of
the late Chester and Alta Sisco Ford. On December 20, 1958, he was married
to the former Carmie Smith, who preceded him in death on February 21, 1985.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jessie Noel Ford. He was a
carpenter and farmer. Survivors include: daughters, Debbie Richardson,
Union Hill Community, Trina (Jessie) Hesson, Pleasant Shade; son, David
Ford, Hermitage Springs; sister, Clodene Ford, Hermitage Springs;
granddaughters Chelsea & Sara Ford; grandsons, Cody, Trey, and Dylan
Richardson, Garrett Ford; step-grandaughter, Karissa Hesson. Arrangements by
the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home, Red Boiling Springs, TN. Miss Gladys Givens, 70, of the Highland Community in Jackson County, died Friday morning, September 16, 2005 at the Smith County Health Care Center in Carthage of cancer. Services were conducted from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon by Eld. Charles Allen Gentry and Eld. Donald Taylor. Following the 1:00 p.m. services, burial was in the Smith County Memorial Gardens. Born in the Elmwood Community of Smith County on April 16, 1935, she was one of five children of the late Waymon Car and Minnie Ethel Givens. Two sisters preceded her in death. They were Anna Ruth Givens on May 8, 1996 and Margaret Givens on June 23, 2005. Miss Givens was a member of the class of 1953 of Smith County High School. She was employed at the former Carthage Shirt Corporation for over thirty years before her retirement. She was a Baptist. Surviving are a sister, Willie Mai Woodard of the Funns Branch Community; brother, Marvin Givens of Highland; niece, Dorris Reese of Clarksville; great-niece, Tammie Jones of Springfield; great-nephew, Richard Huffines of White House. Sanderson of Kempville, directors Joe Lee Hardin, 69, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away, September 19, 2005. Mr. Hardin was a member of the Hendersonville Church of God, American Legion #17, and Hendersonville Lodge #359. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, an Al Menah Shriner, and he retired from the U. S. Army Reserves as a Major. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Allen and Grace Jane Gammons Hardin, his first wife, Dean Bagsby Hardin, a brother, Paul Allen Hardin, and a sister, Alice Marie Hardin. He is survived by his wife, Beula Mattox Hardin, Gallatin, TN; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Lee and Ludmilla Hardin, William Allen and Tammy Hardin, all of Hendersonville, TN; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Lynne and Allen Weatherspoon, Gallatin, TN; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived locally by an aunt, Loretta Duncan, of Lafayette, TN. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, September 22, 2005 at Alexander Funeral Home in Gallatin, TN with Bro. Mike Hammonds officiating. Interment will follow at Haysville Cemetery in Macon County, TN. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of his Sunday School class. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 PM Tuesday, 5 to 9 PM Wednesday, and after 9 AM Thursday at Alexander Funeral Home. Hendersonville Lodge #359 F&AM will conduct Masonic Services at 7 PM Wednesday. The family requests that memorials take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society or Al Menah Shriners Hospital. Stanley Heath, 85, of 827 Clure Brown Road, Adolphus, KY died Sunday, September 18, 2005 at the Cal Turner Extended Care Facility. The Allen County native was a farmer and World War II Army Veteran. He was a son of the late Harry Heath and Essie Pitcock Heath and husband of the late Frances Napier Heath. He is survived by 2 sons: Scottie Heath and wife, Mary, of Adolphus, KY; Chris Heath, Lafayette, TN; 3 grandchildren: Abby Heath, Lexington, KY; Will Heath, Monterey, CA; and Caleb Heath, Lafayette, TN; 2 step grandchildren: Erin Ashworth and Amber Harrison, both of Lafayette, TN; 1 step grandson: Payton Alexander Harrison, Lafayette, TN. Funeral services for Stanley Heath were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2005, at Goad Funeral Home with Bro. Chuck Pruitt officiating and burial in Union Chapel Cemetery.
