Lori Anne Carter, age 41, of Pea Ridge Road in Westmore-land, TN , passed away Friday, April 22, 2005.  Funeral services were held Sunday, April 24, 2005, 4 p.m. at Anderson & Woodard Funeral Home in Westmoreland with Bro. Merlin Nelson & Bro. Don Akers officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Church Cemetery.  Survivors include her father, Dan Edward Carter and her mother, Rebecca Ann Mitchell Carter, both of Westmoreland; a brother, Lucian Carter of Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  Anderson & Woodard Funeral Home in Westmoreland was in charge of arrangements.

Eunice M. Clark, 70, of Carthage Road, Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, passed away Monday, April 18, 2005 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The Greenup County, Kentucky native was born Friday, February 8, 1935 a daughter of the late Benjamin Bentley and Margaret Francis Tyree Bentley. She was a retired inspector for Owens-Brockway, and was united in marriage on September 13, 1966 to Harold Clark.  She is survived by her husband, Harold Clark, Red Boiling Springs, TN; 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne and Mike Eldridge; Sharon and Walter Fawley, all of Ohio; Linda and Allen Gray, Ridgetop, TN; Donna and Kenneth Miller, Hitchcock, Texas; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Gail Clark; David and Sandy Clark, all of Ohio; Timothy and Patricia Clark, Red Boiling Springs, TN; a brother, Richard Bentley, Baltimore, Maryland; a sister, Edna Roe, of Ohio; 22 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by 3 sisters and a brother.  Funeral services for Eunice M. Clark were conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 21, 2005 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home in Lafayette, Tennessee. Chester R. Johnson, age 81, of 5015 Old Franklin Road, Scottsville, KY, passed away Friday, April 22, 2005 at the Medical Center at Scottsville. The Logan County, KY native was a farmer, retired employee of Weyerhauser and a member of Beech Grove General Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Jessie James Johnson and husband of the late Meallie Drew Haley Johnson.  He is survived by three sons, Darrell Johnson, Jimmy Johnson and wife, Noni, all of Scottsville, David Johnson, Hopkinsville, KY; four daughters, Wanda Jennett and husband, David, Shirley Alford, Linda Summers and husband, Danny, all of Franklin, KY, Carolyn Slayton and husband, Charles, Lafayette, TN; one sister, Louise Price, Auburn, KY; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Marilyn Price; four brothers, Leslie, James, Ray and Hubert Johnson; and one sister, Rosie Claypool.  Funeral services for Chester Johnson were held Sunday, April 24, 2005, 2 p.m. at Goad Funeral Home in Scottsville with Bro. Gary Pardue officiating. Burial was in Beech Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Tommy Key, age 87, of the Monoville Community in Smith County, passed away Thursday morning, April 21, 2005, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville after heart failure.  Services were conducted on Sunday, April 24, at 1:00 p.m. from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home by Bro. Jimmy Gregory and Dr. Howard Olive. Burial with military honors followed in Dixon Springs Cemetery.  Born Thomas David Key, April 30, 1917 in the Monoville Community, he was one of 13 children of the late Thomas Orion and Martha Woodson Garrett Key. Siblings preceding him in death were Sam Key, Mary Key Taylor, Thad Key, Sadie Key Kittrell, Lucy Key Waggoner, Albertine Key, Reba Key Mixon, Cordell Key, Fannie Key, Carmack Key, Orion Key.  He was married in Bruceton, TN, on Sept. 22, 1946, to the former Janet Coleman of Glenwood, GA. She preceded him in death on January 12, 2005. He was a carpenter, retired farmer and member of Peyton Creek Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II having served our country from Sept. 16, 1942, until his discharge on Dec. 27, 1945. One year, ten months and seven days of his serve were in combat overseas in the Battle of New Guinea in the Philipines.  A member of the 31st Calvary Reconnaissance, he was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the Asian Pacific Theater ribbon with two Bronze Stars and one Bonze Arrowhead, and the Philippines Liberation Ribbon.  Surviving are his six children, Dr. Larry Key and wife, Jenna, of Lafayette, Sherry Shepherd of Monoville, Sandra Garrott of Mt. Juliet, David and Jeffrey Key of Monoville, Michael Key of Mt. Juliet; brother, Fred Gordon Key of Murfreesboro; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  Sanderson of Carthage, directors.

Arthur Kinny Riddle (Doc), 51, of Mansfield, Ohio, died Friday, April 15, 2005 at Med. Central in Mansfield, Ohio. The Momence, Illinois native was a mechanic, a Vietnam Navy veteran, and member of Veterans of Foreign War. He was a son of James Harvey Riddle, who survives, and the late Lois Jean Stockton Riddle.  Survivors include four sons, Kinny Vernon Riddle, MO, Arthur Kinny Justin Ryan Riddle, Zachary Quintin Riddle and Emmanuel Isaac Riddle, all of Lafayette, TN; four daughters, Jessica Marion, MO, Tiffany Lewis, Sherry Jean Riddle and Comalea Michelle Riddle, all of Lafayette, TN; his father, James H. Riddle of Scottsville, KY; one brother, James Wesley Riddle and wife, Dorothy, of Scottsville, KY; two sisters, Shirley DeLoe and husband, Frank, of Alvaton, KY, Ruby Jean Guffey, Albany, KY; 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Riddle; and one granddaughter, Victoria Nicole Rheam.  Funeral services for Arthur Kinny Riddle (Doc) were held Thursday, April 21, 2005, 2 p.m. at Goad Funeral Hoome with Bro. James Riddle and Bro. Cary Frazier officiating. Burial was in Red Hill General Baptist Church Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Toy Cook Sloan, age 93, of Gallatin, were conducted Tuesday, April 26, 2005, 11:30 a.m. at Rock Bridge Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Dee russell and Bro. Royce Key officiating. Active pallbearers were Steve Barnes, Rich Guyer, Raymond Rogers, Mike Lucas, Larry Sloan and David Stafford. Interment followed in Rock Bridge Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Toy Cook Sloan passed away Saturday, April 23, 2005 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin.  She was born in Sumner County, TN on August 21, 1911, the daughter of the late George and Maggie Prock Cook. She was married to Isaac Harrison Sloan on December 29, 1930, who preceded her in death on May 29, 1998. Eight brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and the oldest member of Rock Bridge Missionary Baptist Church.  She is survived by a son, Wadean (Frances) Sloan, Edenburg, IN; daughters, Dorothy (M.V.) Hammock, Bald Knob, AR, Lillian (Rich) Guyer, Florissant, MO, Joyce (Harold) Wims, Gallatin, TN, Wanda (Raymond) Rogers, Cottontown, TN; brother, I.T. Cook, Lafayette, TN; sisters, Dona Sloan, Indianapolis, IN, Flossie Jenkins, Westmoreland; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.  Arrangements by Anderson & Anderson Funeral Home, Gallatin, TN.

Mr. Sherril Stafford, age 55, of Gainesboro, Tennessee passed way Sunday, April 17, 2005 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee.  Born on December 17, 1949, he was the son of Mrs. Vivian Smith Stafford and the late Houston Stafford of Gainesboro. He was united in marriage on November 18, 1978 to Linda Hogg Stafford of Gainesboro. He was an electrician with Lakeland Electric in Cookeville and a member of Dudney's Hill Church of Christ. He proudly served our country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Stafford and one sister, Ann Heady.  In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jamie and Amanda Stafford of Lafayette and Cody and Tandi Stafford of Gainesboro; one daughter, Candace Stafford of Gainesboro; two grandchildren; one sister, Faye Goolsby of Nashville; one brother-in-law, Ray Heady of Gainesboro; one sister-in-law, Jimmie Carolyn Stafford of Gainesboro and several nieces and nephews.  Services for Sherril Stafford were held Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home. Brother Earl Brazle, Jr. and Brother Don Chaffin officiated. Interment was in the Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in the Stone Community of Jackson County.  Anderson Funeral Home of Gainesboro, TN in charge of services.

 

A. D. Sullivan, 72, of the Siloam Community passed away Thursday, April 21, 2005 at Trousdale Medical Center in Hartsville, Tennessee. The Sumner County, Tennessee native was born Friday, September 30, 1932, a son of the late Carmack Sullivan and Maggie E. Love Sullivan, and was a farmer. On December 24, 1952, he was united in marriage to Lois Farley Sullivan.  He is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Lois Farley Sullivan, of the Siloam Community; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda Sue and Tony Harrison, of the Westside Community; a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Gene and Mickie Sullivan, of the Green Grove Community. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, James Sullivan, a sister, Shelvy Ann Sullivan, and two grandchildren, Melissa Harrison and Kristy Dawn Harrison.  Funeral services for A. D. Sullivan were conducted at 3:00 PM Saturday, April 23, 2005 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Eld. James Ray Lawson and Rev. Raymond Adcock officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery. Pauline Summers, 64, of Lafayette, Tennessee, passed away Friday, April 22, 2005 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, Tennessee. The Macon County, Tennessee native was born Monday, June 3, 1940, and was a homemaker and member of the Church of God.  She is survived by her husband, Carl Summers, of Lafayette, TN; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and J. L. Sanders, Portland, TN; 7 sons and 3 daughters-in-law, Larry D. Summers, William Wayne and Shirley Summers, Carl Allen and Lisa Summers, Richard Dean and Kim Summers, Thomas Glenn Summers, and Anthony Jason Summers; her mother, Inez Bergdorf Thaxton; a brother, Gordy Thaxton; 2 sisters, Dinky Presley and Diane Matthews, all of Lafayette, TN; 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Lee Summers and a brother, Larry Gene Jones.  Funeral services for Pauline Summers were conducted at 4:00 PM Monday, April 25, 2005 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Bro. Sharon Renee Trent, 37, of the Westside Community, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, Tennessee. The Allen County, Kentucky native was born Sunday, September 3, 1967, and was and employee of Racoe, Inc. On June 19, 1988 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Lee Trent.  She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Lee Trent; 2 daughters, Tiffany LeAnn Trent and Amanda Dawn Trent; her mother, Brenda McCullough; her father, Larry McGuffey; a brother, Neal McGuffey, all of the Westside Community; and her grandmother, Marie Jent, Lafayette, TN.  Funeral services for Sharon Renee Trent were conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, April 22, 2005 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Jerry Mercer and Eld. Jackie Stagner officiating. Burial was in Macon County Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers were Michael Ragland, Keith Trent, Chris Trent, Robby Cornwell, Ricky McGuffey, Phillip Smith, Todd Waggoner, and Ricky Oldham. Funeral services for Gladys White, 93, of Gainesboro were held at 11 a.m. on Monday from Anderson Funeral Home. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery in Nashville.  Mrs. White died on Friday, March 18, 2005, at the Mabry Heath Care and Rehab Center in Gainesboro.  She was born July 21, 1911, in Macon County, Tenn., to the late Louis Riley White and Laura Lack White. Mrs. White was a member of the Church of Christ.  Her family includes a daughter, Lois McCue of Cookeville; a daughter-in-law, Minnaware White of Goodlettsville; three  granddaughters and grandsons-in-law: Patsy and Gus House, Betsy and Lee Harrell, and Debbie and Loyd Birdwell; and three grandsons and granddaughters-in-law: J.D. White, Jr. and Kimberly White, Chris and Kimberly White, and Robin and Jennifer White; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, Dillard Spivey White; a son, J.D. White, Sr.; four brothers: Ross, Braxton, Frank and Woodrow White; and five sisters: Nancy Ann Carver, Florence Starks, Maggie Robinson, Nellie Patton and Edith Graham.  Bro. O'Neal Huffines officiated at the services.

Mary Frances Cates White, age 85, of Coleytown Road in Westmoreland, TN, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2005.  Funeral services were held Sunday, April 24, 2005, 2 p.m., at Anderson & Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Gene Heath officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery.  She was the daughter of the late Vernie T. Cates and Vangie Lee Andela Cates. She was married to Gerald White, who survives. She was retired from the U.S. Army Finance Center.  Survivors besides her husband include a step-son, James White of Supply, North Carolina; brother, Larry Wayne Cates, Westmoreland; sister, Carol (Don) Wilkerson, Westmoreland. She was preceded in death by brothers, Leon, Billy, Jimmy, Thomas, Donald Ray, John, Harold and Flloyd Collins Cates; and a sister, Minnie E. Troutt.  Anderson & Woodard Funeral Home in Westmoreland was in charge of arrangements.

Madeline Wilson, age 79, of Indian Creek in the Highland Community of Gainesboro, passed away Thursday evening, April 21, 2005 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.  Services were conducted Sunday, April 24, 3 p.m. from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home in Kempville. James Bybee and John Mabery officiated and burial followed in the John L. Clark Cemeter in Gainesboro.  She was born Dovie Madeline Etheridge in the Jennings Creek Community of Jackson County on Feb. 25, 1926 and was one of ten children of the late Ben and Lena McClure Etheridge. Siblings preceding her in death were Kenneth, Ray, and Scott Etheridge, Jewel Sisco, Amerine Hudson, Delano Jones; two brothers died as infants; and a grandson, Chris Hollaway.  She was married Sept. 5, 1942 to Vester C. Wilson of Jackson County. She was a retired cook and waitress and was a member of Haydenburg Church of Christ.  Surviving in addition to her husband of 62 years are two daughters, Dale Hollaway and husband, Junior, Fredia Draper and husband, Johnny, all of Highland; two grandchildren, a great-grandson; and a sister, Myrtle Swiney of Madison.  Sanderson of Kempville, directors.

John Douglas Wootten, Sr., 82, of Lafayette, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2005 at Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette, Tennessee. The Macon County, Tennessee, native was born Saturday, November 11, 1922, a son of the late W. L. Wootten and Mary Bradley Wootten. He was a First Lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II, was a retired educator and education sales representative, a charter member and deacon of Lafayette First Baptist Church, a 50 plus year member of Lafayette Masonic Lodge #543 F. & A.M., Lafayette Chapter 379 Order of Eastern Star, where he was a Past Patron, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member and ambassador to Al Menah Shrine Center, member of the Macon County Library Board, the American Legion, V.F.W. Post 7135, a member of 390th Bomb Group (H) Veterans Association, and was a former member of the Macon County Board of Education. He was united in marriage to Eloise Kislig Painter Wootten, who preceded him in death on September 25, 1999.  He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Circuit Judge John D. Wootten, Jr. and his wife Melissa; his fiancee, Pamela Deck; a sister, Rebecca Cutrell, all of Lafayette, TN; 3 nieces, Cherisse Huddleston, Anita Gregory, and Kim White, a nephew, Woody Cutrell; a step-son and his wife, Jack Barr Painter and Leslie, of North Carolina; and 2 step-grandchildren.  Funeral services for John Douglas Wootten, Sr. were conducted at 1:00 PM Monday at Lafayette First Baptist Church with Rev. Russell (Rusty) Trotter officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Walton Cemetery. Distinguished pallbearers were John D. Clayton and George Douglas Tucker. Honorary pallbearers were Deacons of Lafayette First Baptist Church, members of John Douglas Wootten, Sr.'s Sunday School Class, and members of Al Menah Shrine Center. Lafayette Lodge # 543 F.&A.M. will conduct Masonic Services at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home at 7:30 PM Sunday.  Alexander-Goad Funeral Home in Lafayette, TN was in charge of arrangements.
