Paul Jeffery Gammons, age 32, of Portland, TN, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005.  Funeral services were held Sunday, January 9, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Anderson & Woodard Funeral Home. Burial was in Eulia Cemetery.  He was the son of the late Paul Gammons and Thelma Sue Johns Gammons of Hartsville. He was married to Janice Key Gammons, who survives. He was employed at Fleet Design.  Other survivors besides his mother and wife include a brother, William Gammons, Adolphus, KY; sister, Tammy Wallace of Hartsville.  Anderson & Woodard Funeral Home in Westmoreland was in charge of arrangements.

Brendin Tyler Greene, age 7 mos., of Westmoreland, TN, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2005.  Memorial services were held Wednesday, January 5, 12:00 noon at Anderson & Woodard Funeral Home.  Survivors include father, Johnathon Greene of Forest Park, GA; mother, Chantel Allen Greene of Westmoreland; paternal grandfather, Lee Greene, Forest Park, GA; paternal grandmother, Vickie Greene of Covington, GA; maternal grandfather, George Allen, Smyrna, TN; maternal grandmother, Brenda Canavan, Westmoreland, TN; brother, Canton Greene, Westmoreland.  Anderson & Woodard Funeral Home in Westmoreland was in charge of arrangements.

Gordon Gregory, age 72, of Gibbs Lane, Gallatin, TN, passed away Monday, Jan. 3, 2005.  Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, 11 a.m. at Anderson & Woodard Funeral Home, conducted by Bro. Wayne Keen & Bro. Doug Curtis. Burial was in Eulia Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were Randy Haskins, Terry Gregory, Donald Gregory, Randy Haskins, Kenny Haskins; active pallbearers were Michael Lambert, Jerry Gregory, Dale Gregory, Freddie Gregory, Jimmy Haskins, Carl Gregory.  He was the son of the late James Lawson Gregory and Zella Rebecca Harrison Gregory. He was married to Bonnie Lambert Gregory of Gallatin, who survives. He was retired from Eaton Corporation and retired maintenance director of Sumner County Schools, a member of Eulia General Baptist Church and a Korean War veteran.  Survivors besides his wife include a son, Daryl (Julie) Gregory, Portland; a daughter, Pamela Jo (George) Smith of Gallatin; brothers, Junior Gregory, Thomas Gregory and Buford Gregory, all of Westmoreland; sister, Betty Haskins, Westmoreland; five grandchildren, three step-granchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers: Woodrow, Hurley, Melvin (Bud) Gregory; and sisters, Jewell Gregory and Edna Akins.  Anderson & Woodard Funeral Home in Westmoreland was in charge of arrangements. 

Opal Smith Hewitt, 85, of Lafayette, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at Knollwood Manor in Lafayette, Tennessee. The Smith County, Tennessee native was born Tuesday, August 12, 1919, a daughter of the late Tommy Smith and Lillie Russell Smith. She was a retired inspector for garment manufacturers and a member of Russell Hill Upper Cumberland Presbyterian Church. On June 21, 1941, she was united in marriage to Robert Hewitt who preceded her in death on September 20, 1985.  She is survived by 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Joe Clark; Brenda and Dean Brawner, Gwinda and Steve Henson, all of Lafayette, TN; Carol and Carroll Durham, Hartsville, TN; a son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Cathy Hewitt, Carthage, TN; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Virgil Smith and Isham Smith.  Funeral services for Opal Smith Hewitt were conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, January 7, 2005 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home in Lafayette, TN with Rev. Charles Jones officiating. Burial was in Whitley Cemetery in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee. Pallbearers were David K. Clark, Mark Douglas Clark, Tim Polston, Brian Hale, Alex R. Hewitt, Scott Ward, Jerry Meador, and Johnny Warner.  Alexander-Goad Funeral Home in Lafayette, TN was in charge of arrangements.

Rondel Jewell Jackson, age 74, of Scottsville, KY, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2005 at Cal Turner Extended Care in Scottsville. He was born in Barren County, KY, on December 23, 1930, the son of the late Thaddeus Edward Jackson and Bessie Jewell Barrick. He was married to Leta Jane Cassady Jackson, who survives. He was a Korean War veteran and a farmer. He was a member of Cedar Cross Baptist Church.  Survivors besides his wife include a daughter, Dr. Lynn Cothron and husband Dewayne of Lafayette; one brother, Thaddeus Jackson, Jr., of Annapolis, MD.  Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, 11:00 a.m. at T.W. Crow & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Scottsville, conducted by Walter Graham.  T.W. Crow & Son Funeral Home in Scottsville, directors.

Kelly McCormick, age 76, of Oak Grove Church Road in Bethpage, TN, passed away Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005.  Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, 11:00 a.m. at Providence General Baptist Church, conducted by Bro. Darrell Braswell and Bro. Ricky Duffer. Interment was in Roberts Tabernacle Cemetery.  For over 55 years Mr. McCormick played bluegrass music with the McCormick Bros. Bluegrass Band and played on the Grand Ole Opry, toured with numerous Opry stars, recorded music with Acme records for two years and Hickory Records for over eight years and Metro Media Records for one year. He was a member of Providence General Baptist Church for over 57 years and served as deacon for 45 years. He was also retired from Vol State College.  He was the son of the late Willie Richard McCormick and Mary Tula Lyles McCormick. He was married to Rosemary Thorton McCormick for 57 years, who survives.  Other survivors include brothers, James Lloyd McCormick of Westmoreland, Haskell McCormick and William Harold McCormick, both of Bethpage, Gerald Lee McCormick of Hendersonville; one sister, Louise Troutt of Gallatin.  Anderson & Woodard Funeral Home in Westmoreland was in charge of arrangements.

Raymond J. Violett, 83, of Shepherdsville, KY passed away at his home on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004.  He was a retired self-employed plumber, a decorated Army veteran of World War II and a member of The Gospel of Kingdom Church.  He is survived by his wife of 60 years, the former Martha L. Henderson; four children, Don Violett of Central City, KY, Peggy Haddock of Lafayette, TN, Wayne Violett of Alvaton, KY and Judy Violette of Louisville, KY; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005 at Hardy-Close Funeral Home in Shep-herdsville, KY with burial in the church's Campground Cemetery.  3

Victor West, age 83, of Carthage, died Monday evening, January 3, 2005 at the University Medical Center in Lebanon.  His service was conducted by Bro. Scott Nesbitt at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 6, from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Davis Cemetery in Russell Hill. Mr. West was married in Georgia on December 18, 1941 to the former Mary Josephine Maynor who preceded him in death on May 11, 1990. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Claywell, on February 12, 2001 and by a granddaughter, Diana Carol Claywell, on February 17, 1969.  Born in the Oak Grove Community of Macon County on September 18, 1921, he was the son of the late Burford and Mary Halliburton West. Mr. West was a life-long farmer and was a member of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.  Surviving are 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Lucille & Hollis Mullinax of South Carthage and Faye & Larry Bussell of Hogans Creek; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Harold & Joyce West of Tanglewood and Doug & Faye West of Pleasant Shade; son-in-law, Phil Claywell of Defeated Creek; sister, Alyene Green of South Carthage; sister-in-law, Nellie West of South Carthage; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.  Sanderson of Carthage, directors.
