Funeral services for Willie Frank Browner, age 93, a resident of Highland Rim Terrace in Portland, were conducted Wednesday, June 8, 2005, 12:45 p.m. at Anderson & Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Dean Dyer officiating. Serving as active pallbearers were Leon Browner, Windell Browner, Melvin Browner, Rebile Dickens, Daryell Ventress and Larry "Bear" Alford. Interment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Goodlettsville.  Willie Frank Browner passed away Monday, June 6, 2005 at Highland Manor in Portland.  A native of Macon County, TN, hew as the son of the late Willie Haywood and Sally Lee Reeves Browner. He was married to the former Ruby Lee Dickens on October 23, 1931, who preceded him in death on October 2, 1981. His son, Charles Browner; grandsons, Frankie Dale and Jimmy Browner; and sister, Minnie Mae Browner, preceded him in death. He was retired from I.K.G. Industries in Nashville where he worked as a welder. He was a member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church.  Survivors include great-granddaughters, Tawnya Browner, Portland, TN, Mae Browner, Goodlettsville; great-great-granddaughter, Carmen Browner, Goodlettsville; several nieces & nephews.  Arrangements by Anderson & Anderson Funeral Home, Gallatin, TN.

Funeral services for Kenneth "Kenny" William Childress, Jr., age 57, of Lafayette, were conducted Thursday, June 9, 2005, 3 p.m. from the chapel of Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with Steve Peeler officiating. His nephews served as pallbearers. Interment followed in Anderson & Son Memorial Park.  Kenny Childress passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette.  A native of Campbell County, TN, he was the son of Kenneth William and Martha Dew Childress, Sr. of LaFollette, TN. He married the former Kathy Powell on August 12, 1977, who survives. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Austin Peay State University and his Masters Degree from TN State University. He was employed by the Natural Resource Conservation Service for 27 years. He was a member of Walton Chapel Church of Christ.  Survivors besides his wife and parents include daughters, Cynthia Anne Childress of Lafayette, Rosemary Lynn Childress of Lafayette; son, Kenneth William "Will" Childress, III, of Knoxville, TN; sisters, Mary (Gary) Edwards, Marshall, VA, Martha (David) Rutter, Chattanooga, TN, Anne (Rocky) Young, LaFollette, TN, Madelyn Christine (Stroud) Lycans, Hendersonville, TN; many nieces and nephews.  Arrangements by Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home, Lafayette, TN.

 

Mona Marie Richardson Davis, 85, of Lafayette, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2005 at The Palace in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee. The Macon County, Tennessee native was born Wednesday, June 11, 1919, a daughter of the late Albert Wilson Richardson and Elvira Pitcock Richardson. She was a retired nurse at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, Tennessee and a member of Enon Missionary Baptist Church. On June 7, 1941, she was united in marriage to Ted Earl Davis, who preceded her in death on April 5, 1973.  She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Earl B. and Laura Davis, Portland, TN; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Charlie Cherry, Lafayette, TN; a brother, Al Richardson, Charlestown, IN; 4 sisters, Hazel McDonald, Lafayette, TN; Lula Kissinger, Jacksonville, Illinois; Loretta Pontrich, Westview, KY; and Alberta Gibson, Old Hickory, TN; 2 grandsons, a step-granddaughter and 2 step-great-granddaughters. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Lanta Richardson and William (Bill) Richardson, and 2 sisters, Lorene Richardson and Mildred Hayes.  Funeral services for Mona Marie Richardson Davis were conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Eld. Kenneth Davis officiating. Burial was in Enon Cemetery. Pallbearers were family and friends.  Alexander-Goad Funeral Home in Lafayette, TN was in charge of arrangements.

 

Maybelle Hayes, 84, of Cadiz, Kentucky, and formerly of Lafayette, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2005 at Trigg County Hospital in Cadiz. The Macon County, Tennessee native was born Sunday, August 22, 1920, a daughter of the late Joe Herald and Ada Walton Herald, was a homemaker, and a member of Brattontown Missionary Baptist Church for over 70 years. She was married to the late Marvin Hayes.  She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jasper Joe (J.J.) and Doris Hayes, of Cadiz, Kentucky; and a grandson, Robin Joe Hayes. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by brothers, Ray, Jimmy, Eugene, and Tom Herald, and sisters, Essie Mae Herald, Lorene Parker, and Carrie Casteel.  Funeral services for Maybelle Hayes were conducted at 10 AM Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Eld. Barry Miller officiating. Burial was in Rocky Mound Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jasper Joe (J. J.) Hayes, Barry Parker, Terry Parker, Benny Herald, Anthony Herald, and Ernie Elkins.  Alexander-Goad Funeral Home in Lafayette, TN was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Barbara Ann Hyde, age 64, of Law Street, Westmoreland, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2005.  Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 15, 2 p.m. at Anderson & Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Creekmore officiating. Burial was in Bradley Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Tracy Williams, Jeff Leath, Jeremy Satterfield, Ray West, Mike Troutt, Travis Hammock and Jeff Satterfield.  She was the daughter of the late Orvell C. Leath and Liva Mae Thompson Leath of Gallatin who survives. She was married to W.D. (Red) Hude of Westmoreland. She was retired from C&C Sportswear and a member of Buffalo Springs Missionary Baptist Church.  Survivors besides her mother and husband include daughters, Betsy (Ken) Hamby of Hartsville, Teresa West of Gallatin, Sharon Roseberry of Westmoreland, Melodie (Freddie) Cook of Bethpage; brother, Johnny Hyde of Gallatin; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  Anderson & Woodard Funeral Home in Westmoreland in charge of arrangements.

Johnie Dillard Osgathorp, age 85, of 6141 McCormick Ridge road, Whitleyville, TN, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at Cumberland River Hospital.  He was born February 9, 1920 in Pricetown, TN, a son of the late Cora Price and John Harrison Osgathorp. He was married to the late Myrtle Newman Osgathorp. He was a Clay County state employee and a member of Pine Hill Church of Christ. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Barlow, Amo, Arlo and Elmo Osgathorp; two half-brothers, Jack and Jay Disman; one half-sister, Lillian Trollengar.  Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Coretta and Tommy Denton of Moss, TN, Marsha & Jimmy Smith of Milton, TN; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild; his wife, Sarah (Brady) Osgathorp.  Funeral services were held Saturday, June 4, 2005 at Upton Funeral Home in Celina with Kenny Westmoreland officiating. Burial was in Union Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Eagle Osgathorp, Jerry Denton, David Desman, Mark Desman, Tommy Newman, Stoney Fraley.

Carl Allen (Boo) Summers, 42, of Lafayette, Tennessee, passed away suddenly June 9, 2005 at Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette, Tennessee. The Macon County, Tennessee native was born Friday, June 15, 1962. He was a sawmill worker and member of New Design Missionary Baptist Church. On August 31, 1965 he was united in marriage to Lisa Carver Summers.  He is survived by his wife, Lisa Carver Summers; 2 daughters, Jennifer Kay Summers and Allison Nicole Summers; a son, Anthony Allen Summers; his father, Carl Billy Summers; 5 brothers and 2 sisters-in-law, Larry D. Summers, William Wayne and Shirley Summers, Richard Dean and Kim Summers, Thomas Glenn Summers, and Anthony Jason Summers, all of Lafayette, TN; a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and J. L. Sanders, Portland, TN; a granddaughter, Destiney Renee Summers; and his grandmother, Inez Bergdorf Thaxton. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Summers and a brother, Kenneth Lee Summers.  Funeral services for Carl Allen (Boo) Summers were conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 11, 2005 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Eld. Jody McIntyre officiating. Burial was in Macon County Memorial Gardens. Alexander-Goad Funeral Home in Lafayette, Tennessee was in charge of arrangements.
