87, of Forkum Lane, Lafayette, TN, were conducted Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at
2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in
Lafayette with Rev. Michael Welch officiating. Honorary pallbearers were
Kenneth Browning, Girvous Browning, Michael Jones, Barry Witcher, Verne
Browning II, Audie Browning and Ronnie Browning. Friends served as active
pallbearers. Interment followed in Anderson & Son Memorial Park. Verne
Browning, Sr. passed away Saturday afternoon, May 28, 2005 at The Palace in
Red Boiling Springs. A native of Clay County, TN, he was the son of
the late Hove and Dora Birdwell Browning. On July 6, 1954, he was married to
Colleen Dingess, who survives. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death
by his sisters, Barbara Witcher and Mae Clevenger; and brothers, Andrew,
Buford, Hubert and Audie Browning. He was a retired bus driver from the
Cleveland Transit System in Cleveland, OH. Survivors besides his wife
include daughters, Dianna (Michael) Jones of Lafayette and Juanita Kipp;
sons, Ronnie (Rebecca) Browning of Kingston Springs, TN, Audie (Faye)
Browning of Lafayette, Verne Browning, II of Antioch, TN and Jack (Jan)
Browning of Wilmington, CO; sisters, Myrtle Rhoton of Clarksville, IN, Madge
Bean of Red Boiling Springs; brothers, Girvous Browning of Red Boiling

Bettie Gwindlene Driver, 68, of the Haysville Community,
passed away Sunday, May 22, 2005 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in
Gallatin, Tennessee. The Macon County, Tennessee, native was born Thursday,
March 11, 1937, a daughter of the late Ernest Eugene Oliver and Dovie
Gregory Oliver. She was a retired factory worker and member of Old Beech
Bottom Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by 3 daughters and
sons-in-law, Kathy and Bill Gordon; Judy and Eld. Roger Holland, Kimberly
and Connie Gammon, all of Lafayette, TN; 7 grandchildren, Ronald and Kristy
Gordon, Brandi and Gary McEwen, B J Gordon, Sharon and Tommy Daughtery,
Jeremy and TeLina Holland, Amy Mitchell, and Justin Gammon; and 8
great-grandchildren, Addison Gordon, Brayli Gordon, William Gordon II, Avery
McEwen, Austin Daughtery, Haley Daughtery, Logan Daughtery, and Jessie
Holland. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a
sister, Shirley Oliver Douglas, and 2 brothers, Earnest Oliver and Billy

| Fred Hale, 92, of Plainfield, Indiana, and a
native of Macon County, Tennessee, passed away Friday, May 27, 2005. He
was an assembler for General Motors Allison for 25 years, retiring in
1978. He was a charter member of the Southside Missionary Baptist
Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vera Overton Hale.
He is survived by his second wife, Lucille Hale, of Indiana-polis, IN; a
son, John W. Hale, Fishers, IN; daughters, Jo Helen Bottoms, Clayton,
IN; Vera Joyce Griffin, Ft. Collins, Colorado; Patricia Ann Hale,
Loogootee, IN; step-children, Charlotte McReynolds, Jacksonville, FL;

Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2005 at Sumner
Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, Tennessee. The Macon County,
Tennessee native was born Thursday, August 28, 1947 a daughter of the
late Dick Hauskins and Idell Sanders Hauskins. She was a member of
Brattontown Missionary Baptist Church and a retired quality control
worker for Bosch. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law,
Chris and Samantha Read, Greenbrier, TN; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law,
Jerry and Bertha Hauskins; Keith and Angie Hauskins; a brother-in-law,
Jimmy Claywell, all of Lafayette, TN; 3 grandchildren. In addition to
her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Claywell.

Henry Guy Hinton, age 59, of 744 Noah Lane,
Scottsville, KY, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2005 at The Medical
Center in Bowling Green. The Allen Co., KY native was a farmer, a border
collie trainer, a member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church and U.S.
Border Collie's Handler's Association. He was a son of the late Ludie
Burton Hinton and Mary Lucille Henson Hinton of Scottsville, KY, who
survives. He is also survived by his wife, Jill Wix Hinton,
Scottsville; two step-daughters, Angela Haskins, Rocky Mound, TN and
Tonya Riddle, Lafayette, TN; two sisters, Dianna McPeak and Martha Bray,
both of Scottsville, KY; one sister-in-law, Beverly Hinton, Scottsville;
six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in
death by one brother, James Hinton. Funeral services for Henry Guy

passed away suddenly Thursday afternoon, May 26, 2005 at Cumberland
River Hospital in Celina from injuries sustained in an automobile
accident. He was born on March 8, 1983 in Sumner County, TN, the
son of Teresa Goad Colwell of Lafayette and Richard Jackson of Red
Boiling Springs. On Feb. 19, 2005, he was married to the former Jessica
Rice, who survives. He was preceded in death by his paternal
grandfather, Jack Jackson. He was employed as a logger for Jack Rice
Logging Company in Red Boiling Springs, TN. Survivors besides his
wife and parents include a daughter, Brianna "Keeley" Jackson, Red
Boiling Springs; step-father, James Colwell; sister, Tanisha Colwell;

Feb. 9, 1946 who preceded her in death on October 7, 1998. She was a
homemaker and a member of Union Camp Missionary Baptist Church. Her
greatest love in life was sharing the fun and excitement of her culinary
skills with family and neighbors. The world was a better place because
of "Bea." She is survived by her son, Charles King of the

Della Delcie West Parker, 89, of Lafayette,
Tennessee, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2005 at Westmoreland Care and
Rehab in Westmoreland, Tennessee. The Macon County, Tennessee native was
born Tuesday, October 19, 1915, a daughter of the late Silas West and
Vester Snider West. She was a member of Brattontown Missionary Baptist
Church and a retired nurses aide at Smith-Chitwood Hospital, now Macon
County General Hospital. She was united in marriage on August 2, 1941 to
Bratton Parker, who preceded her in death on November 3, 1956. She
is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Hazel Parker,
Adolphus, KY; Ronald L. and Anna Parker, Gallatin, TN; a brother, Dortch
West, Lafayette, TN; 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. In
addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a
brother, Odell West, and a sister, Vergie West. Funeral services

| Nancy Jean Morgan Stinson, age 48, of
Fountain Run passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2005 at St. Thomas
Hospital in Nashville. She was born in Macon County, TN on
Aug. 10, 1956, a daughter of the late Laird Morgan and Lauvell
Thrasher Morgan who survives. She was married to Junior Neal Stinson
on April 13, 1991. She was a retired factory worker with Flex
Technology and a member of White Oak Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sisters, Melinda Sewell and Marie Tuck, both
of Lafayette, TN. Services were held at Hughes Funeral Home on
Monday, May 30, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. Interment was in Akersville
Cemetery. Pallbearers were Thomas Stinson, Joey Ausbrooks, Jason
King, Jamie Lawhorn, Clyde Jones, Kendell Tuck, Mike and Kim Shrum.
| James Fred Whitaker, 65, of
Portland, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday May 24, 2005 at his
residence. The Macon County, Tennessee native was a
retired carpenter and Baptist and a son of the late Pat Angelo
Whitaker and Margie Lois Head Whitaker. He is survived by
his longtime companion, Faye Wix, of Portland, TN; a son Scott
Whitaker, Franklin, KY; a step-son, James Wix, Jr., Portland,
TN; a brother, Ben Whitaker, Decatur, Illinois; a sister, Alice
Vaughn, Portland, TN; 2 grandchildren and a step-granddaughter.

of McMinnville, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, May 25,
2005 at his residence. The McDowell, Missouri native was a
retired minister and carpenter. Rev. Wilhite pastored
several churches in Tennessee and Arkansas before retiring
to McMinnville. He was a member of Locust Street Church of
God. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and
Stella Elizabeth Baird Wilhite, a daughter, Stella Mae
Wilhite, a son Walter Frank Wilhite, sisters, Mary Faulkner,
Emma Evernight, and Ethel Hoskins, and a brother, Edward
Wilhite. He is survived by his wife Minnie Wilhite,
