Ruthie Andrews, 82, of Portland, Tennessee, and formerly of Lafayette, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2005 at her residence in Portland. The Macon County, Tennessee, native was born Sunday, December 24, 1922, a daughter of the late Harrison (Hack) Lamb and Lillie White Lamb. She was a homemaker and member of Cedar Bluff Missionary Baptist Church. She was united in marriage to Cordell Andrews. She is survived by her husband of over 68 years, Cordell Andrews, Portland, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn OâNeal and husband, Tommy, Portland, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Albert and Helen Andrews, Westmoreland, TN; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Shankle, 2 sons, Bobby Joe Andrews and Walter Ray Andrews, a grandson, Albert Lee Andrews, Jr., and a sister, Sara Mai Gulley. Funeral services for Ruthie Andrews were conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Williams officiating. Burial was in Drury Cemetery. | Tommy E. Bain, age 58, of Donoho Drive, Portland, TN, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2005. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 16, 2005, 2 p.m. at Anderson & Woodard Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Baggatt officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. He was the son of the late Tommy Jerry Bain and Dora Ethel Denson Bain. He was married to Clayla Smith Bain, who survives. Sylvia L. Bandy, 84, of Bloomington, Indiana, and formerly of Macon County, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2005 in Bloomington. The Allen County, Kentucky native was born Tuesday, May 11, 1920, a daughter of the late Luther Harris and Grace Combs Harris, and was a homemaker. She is survived by a son, James "Dude" Bandy, Jamestown, Kentucky; 3 daughters, Bertha Brown, Jamestown, KY; Mickey Walters, Bloomington, Indiana; and Brenda Carder, Albany, Kentucky; a longtime caregiver and granddaughter, Kathy Heavilon, Bloomington, Indiana; 2 brothers, Carlos Harris, Lafayette, TN; and Charles Harris, Bowling Green, Kentucky; 13 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by 2 daughters, Ann Browning and June Bandy, a son, Billy Bandy, a sister, Ramona Capshaw, and 3 brothers, Jackie Harris, Novis Harris, and Earnest Harris. Stella Mai Painter Botts was born Sept. 18, 1899 and passed away Dec. 22, 2004 at the age of 105. She was the daughter of the late Patrick and Genetta Painter. She was married to William H. Botts on October 2, 1921. They lived in Jackson County near Whitleyville. After several years, they moved to Hartville, OH. The last 11 years she lived in Sarasota, Florida with her two daughters, Barbara Scadding and Robbie S. Hopton who survive. She is also survived by one grandchild, three great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Ford Botts; ten brothers & sisters, Lee Painter, John Painter, Dee Carter, Sarah Spivey, Mary Crowder, Ada Mercer, Lindsey Painter, Lorene Painter, Rosa Watson, and Gilbert Painter. She was a homemaker and a member of Central Church of Christ. Services were held Dec. 26 at Palms Funeral Home with burial in Palms Memorial Park. Bevie Nichols Dickens, age 96, of Austin Peay Hwy. in Westmoreland, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2005. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 16, 2005, 11 a.m. at Anderson & Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. C.L. (Dee) Russell officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery in Westmoreland. She was the daughter of the late Simpson Odell Nichols and Laura Myrtle Hooper Nichols. She was married to the late Perkin A. Dickens and was a member of Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include four sons, Truman Dickens and Joe Dickens, both of Nashville, Willard Dickens of White House, TN, Billy Dickens of Westmore-land; two daughters, Christine Gregory of Castalian Springs and Nancy Graham of Bethpage; one sister, Florzell Draper of Nashville; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-granchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services for Hattie Jenkins Johnson, age 93, of Nashville and formerly of Macon County, TN, were conducted Friday morning, March 11, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. from the Nashville National Cemetery in Madison with Reverend Michael O'Bannon officiating. Pallbearers were Randy Hall, Kimball Hall, Alan Hall, Fay Hall, Fred Belt and Wayne Holland. Hattie Jenkins Johnson passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette. A native of Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Esley and Susie Dyer Jenkins. On December 25, 1959, she was married to Colonel Edwin K. Johnson, who preceded her in death on December 11, 1969. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Flo Jenkins; brother, Doyle Jenkins. She attended public schools in Macon County, she was a graduate of M.T.S.U. in Murfreesboro and attended George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. She taught in the schools of Macon County before becoming the Educational Supervisor with Farm Security Adm. at Cumberland Homesteads in Crossville. From there she went to Smyrna Army Airfield where she was Civilian Employment Counselor until the end of World War II. Afterward, she moved to Nashville where she became the guidance counselor at West End High School. She also taught part-time at Peabody Demonstration School for several years. She was a charter member of Belle Meade United Methodist Church, member of National Educational Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, American Psychological Association, Metropolitan Nashville Educational Adm., Davidson County National Horticulture Society of Cheekwood and Friends of Cheekwood, Warner Park Garden Club and Middle Tennessee Orchid Society. Survivors include nieces & husbands, Fran & Fred Belt, Hendersonville, Ann & Fay Hall; great-niece & nephews and their spouses, Lisa & Wayne Holland, Randy & Debbie Hall, Kimball & Tina Hall, Alan & Janie Hall, all of Red Boiling Springs; 13 great-great-nieces & nephews, two great-great-great-nieces & nephews. Benny Jones, 71, of Lafayette, TN , passed away Thursday, March 10, 2005 at Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette. The Monroe County, Kentucky native was born Thursday, April 20, 1933, a son of the late Gaither Jones and Bessie Jenkins Jones. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a member of Landmark Baptist Church, a retired truck driver, mechanic, and farmer. He was preceded in death by his wives, Betty Jean Law Jones and Juanita Gregory Jones. He is survived by 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Thelma Lou Dawes; Lora and Glen Pedigo; Cindi and Timmy Jones, all of Lafayette, TN; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Joan Jones, Murfreesboro, TN; a step-daughter, Rhonda Givens, Lafayette, TN; a sister, Jewell Minix, Scottsville, KY; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wives and parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Jones, and 2 sisters, Sally Jones and Judy Fisher. Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at The Palace in Red Boiling
Springs, Tennessee. The Macon County, Tennessee native was born Tuesday,
January 12, 1926 a daughter of the late Obie Robert Dallas and Minnie Cook
Dallas. She was a retired employee in the housekeeping department for Macon
County General Hospital, a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, and
wife of the late Randall Krantz. She is survived by a son, Ronnie
Krantz, of Lafayette, TN; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her
husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a granddaughter,
Rhonda Krantz, 3 brothers, Lewis Dallas, Robert Dallas, and Jesse Dallas,
and 4 sisters, Ruth Green, Ida Cothron, Amy Bransford, and Edna Gammons.
Funeral services for Lura Belle Krantz were conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday,
March 10, 2005 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Eld. Guthrie Thompson
officiating. Burial was in Macon County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were
