Anderson, Mary Helen, 75, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2005, at Oaklawn Health and Rehab. Center. She was a native of Old Hickory, TN, a retired employee of P. Lorillard and a member of Jeffersontown United Methodist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Cathy Kent; two sons, George W. Anderson and Mark K. Anderson; on sister, Jean Clark; one brother, Henry Clay Caruthers; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held November 7, with burial in Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville, KY. Expression of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Louisville.
Mr. Carleslie Jefferson Coker, age 90, of Henryville, Indiana , passed away at 6:25 AM, Saturday, November 12th, 2005 at Clark Memorial Hospital, Jeffersonville, Indiana. Mr. Coker was born in Green Grove, Tennessee on July 27, 1915. He was the son of the late Rufus J. and Maudie Juno (Linville) Coker. He received both his Bachelors and Master Degrees in Education from Middle Tennessee State University. Thirty-seven years of his life was devoted to working in the education system. He began his teaching career in a one room school house in rural Tennessee. Mr. Coker was a teacher and principal in the Sumner and Macon County Tennessee School systems, prior to coming to Henryville in 1969 as the first elementary principal. He was a member of Henryville First Baptist Church in Henryville, Indiana. He was former chairman of the deacons and served for many years as deacon. He also taught Sunday School for about 50 years. He was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association; National Education Association.; and a Lifetime member PTA. He was also a retired board member of the Mt. Zion Cemetery Associaton. He was the husband of Phyllis Annette (Hayes) Coker, whom he married August 29, 1954 in Lafayette, TN. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, David, husband of Mary Coker, Manteno, IL; daughter, Ann, wife of Leon Jones, Murfreesboro, TN; grandson, Aaron Coker; granddaughter, Anna Coker; Grandson, Matthew Jones; Granddaughter, Michelle Jones. He is preceded in death by a son Carl Stephen Coker who died in 1975; and a brother, Haskel Coker; and a sister, Callie Eunice Sullivan. Funeral Services were held at Henryville First Baptist Church, Henryville, Indiana. at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 15th, with Rev. Ben Nobles, Rev. Charles E. Smith, and Rev. David Shivers officiating. Interment at Mt. Zion Cemetery Henryville, Indiana.
Funeral services for Debbie Clements Cornwell, age 46 of Fairdale, KY, and formerly of the Hermitage Springs Community in Clay County, TN were conducted Saturday afternoon, November 12, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs with Jimmy Cook officiating. Pallbearers were Lonnie Ray, Gary Ray, Donnie, David Ray, Lucas Grace, Nicholas Grace, Brad Copas, Anthony Holland. Interment followed in the Clementsville Cemetery. Debbie Clements Cornwell passed away Wednesday morning, November 9, 2005 at her residence. She was the daughter of Ruth Carter Clements of Hermitage Springs, TN and the late Reed Clements. On May 26, 1981, she was married to Donnie Cornwell, who survives. She was an employer with the former International Burial Dress Company in Louisville, KY with 13 years of service. Survivors besides her husband and mother include daughters: Donetta Cornwell, Dondra Cornwell and Tamera Cornwell all of Fairdale, KY; sisters: Wanda Ray, Red Boiling Springs, TN, Diana (Merwyn) Holland, Sandra (Bobby) Grace all of Hermitage Springs Community in Clay County, TN. Virginia Davis, 61, of Lafayette, TN, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The Davidson County, Tennessee native was born Saturday, August 5, 1944, a daughter of the late Charlie Edgar Davis and Lillie West Davis. She was a graduate of Maplewood High School in Nashville, a business college graduate, a dispatcher for the Macon County Sheriffâs Department, a retired employee of Centennial Medical Center, a former employee of Comcast Cable, a former manager of Nashville Answering Service, and a member of Meridian Street Church of God. She is survived by a sister, Ann Young, Lafayette, TN; 6 nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and great-nephews, and several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, A. P. Davis and Edward Davis, and a niece. Funeral services for Virginia Davis were conducted at 3:00 PM Saturday, November 12, 2005 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Eld. Charles Jones officiating. Burial was in Corinth Cemetery. Pallbearers were Leonard Young, David Young, Travis Shipley, Aaron Shipley, R. C. Whitaker, Gary Whitaker, and Wayne Sinks. Junior Stevens, 61, of the Coleytown Community passed away Thursday, November 10, 2005 at Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette, Tennessee. The Macon County, Tennessee native was a carpenter and craftsman, a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church near Hartsville, Tennessee, and a 1962 graduate of Macon County High School. He was preceded in death by his father, Thurman Stevens. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ellen Stevens, of the Coleytown Community; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Gary Glover, Anchorage, Alaska; a son and daughter-in-law, Casey and Toni Stevens, of the Galen Community; his mother, Lonnie Bell Stevens Simmons, Westmoreland, TN; 3 grandchildren, Bailey Joellen Glover, Zakkary Elijah Stevens, and Trai McKensey Stevens; and 2 step-grandchildren, Shannon Deshae Patterson and Lacy Danielle Patterson. Funeral services for Junior Stevens were conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Swaffer officiating. Burial was in Scott Cemetery. Walter A. Tanner, age 76, of Gallatin, died November 12, 2005. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen Marion and Ruth McClintock Tanner, and sister Charolette Paul. Mr. Tanner is survived by his wife, Bettie Tanner of Gallatin; sons Michael Tanner (Joann), Murfreesboro; Anthony Tanner (Renee), Lebanon; brother, Thomas Tanner, Waynesville, OH; sisters, Faye Sivazlian, Willoughby Hills, OH; Jane Fraley, Sun City, FL; and grandchildren, Gregory Tanner, LaDonna Tanner, and Leanna Tanner. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Wednesday, November 16, from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Brother Doug Curtis officiating.
