DR. FLOWERS DIES AT MISSISSIPPI HOME

Paralysis Fatal to Former Citizen; Remains Buried at Littlelot,
after Impressive Services

     Funeral services for the late Dr. Dennis W. FLOWERS, who died on Friday, September 5, at his home at Fannin, Miss., were held at Littlelot, 12 miles east of here on Saturday afternoon, immediately following the arrival of the remains at the former home village of deceased.  Death was caused by a prolonged attack of paralysis, the initial attack having been suffered more than two years ago.
     Rev. J. E. Justice of Littlelot, pastor of the local Methodist church, and Rev. James E. Woodward, pastor of the Methodist church here, were in charge of funeral services which were attended by hundreds of friends of deceased.
     Dr. FLOWERS was 60 years of age and had been a resident of Fannin the past five years, the thirty years previous to which he had spent as a citizen of Littlelot.  During this time he was one of the most successful physicians of this county and practiced with success the first two years of residence at his adopted home.  Ill health caused practically a retirement, although he was active in the direction of extensive farm interests near Fannin.  A devout member of the Methodist church many years, a member of the Masonic order, and always interested in civic affairs of his home community as well as affairs of wider interest, Dr. FLOWERS was well known and beloved in this county and in his later home state of Mississippi.
     The remains were accompanied to their final resting place by his wife, formerly Miss Mollie HUNTER, and by Derward TINNIN of Fannin, who came as an escort representing the Masonic order of Brandon, Miss., to which organization the membership of deceased had been transfered from the Masonic lodge at Shady Grove.  The latter lodge conducted the impressive service of the order as a final tribute to a departed brother and former member.
     Surviving are his wife and three children, Mrs. Thomas BRATTON of Fannin, Miss.; Mrs. J. T. PARSONS, wife of the Rev. Mr. PARSONS of Goodlettsville; and Mrs. Jerome HARVILL of Littlelot.  Three brothers and three sisters also survive and they are J. D. FLOWERS, Centreville; L. V. FLOWERS, Council's Bend; Henry FLOWERS of near Dickson; Mrs. J. W. BROWNLEE, Centreville; Mrs. Evie P. BEASLEY, Waverly; and Mrs. Virginia MURPHREE of Nashville.
