Dangerously Hurt While Hunting
A. H. NEELY of Nashville, guest of Will WEAVER and family at
Tottys, was the victim of an unusual accident which proved a narrow escape from death on
Friday night. While opossum hunting in the woods near Tottys, the young man carried
a recently sharpened double-bit axe for the purpose of felling small trees in which the
quarry is usually located. A false step into a small ravine threw the victim to the
ground, a blade of the axe entering the right side of the neck directly under the ear.
Important blood vessels were severed and the patient was rushed here for treatment
at offices of a local physician. He was later removed to the home of his hosts,
where he is expected to recover.
Mr. NEELY is the husband of the late Mrs. Willie May Weaver
NEELY, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. WEAVER and who died at her home in Nashville the latter
part of last month. Following funeral services and interment at Tottys, the bereaved
husband has been a guest in the home of his father-in-law.
