This is Matthew William HUGHES with his wife Sarah "Addie"
McClain HUGHES and there daughter Ethel Bernice HUGHES.
Matthew William Hughes was born November 1890 and he died
July 5, 1938. We believe this photo was taken around 1927. Matthew
was also a veteran. He enlisted at Camp Oglethorpe, Georgia May
13, 1918. He recieved an Honorable Discharge December 11, 1919
from Camp Sevier, South Caralina. He was the son of William C.
(Billy) and Perrilla (Copeland) HUGHES. Matthew was the father
of two daughters, Ethel "Bernice", and Mary Wilma, Mary
is my mother. Bernice passed away 26 years ago. Mary still lives
in Noblesville, Indiana. Matthew has 11 grandchildren, 11 great
grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. It is sad to
think he never knew any of us since he passed when my mother was
only three years old. That is why I am trying to keep his memory
alive.
Matthew, as well as his parents, brother and sister all are all
buried at Concord Cemetery.
My Grandmother was Sarah "Addie" McClain HUGHES. She
was the daughter of John and Emma (Hampton) McCLAIN. She is buried
at McDonald Cemetery.
This photo was taken at the Hughes farm in Hillham, Tennesse.
