Jeremiah ODLE died in Overton Co TN in 1820. He married Margaret
EVENS about 1794. Where were they married? In a deed for 400+
acres of land in Overton Co, the widow Margaret and children John,
Samuel, Sarah, Rebecca, Abraham, Nancy, Polly, William, and Margaret
were named. All of the children except Abraham, Polly, and William
moved to Washington Co AR with their families after they married.
Who did John marry? Where did Abraham, Polly, and Margaret marry
and where did they go? Thank you.

Searching for others working on the Lanier family who lived in
Overton County, Tn. during the first half of the 19th century.
George W. Lanier, born about 1780 in Virginia, grew up there and
in Overton County where they had several children including Paschal,
Andrew J., George W., William, and others. George W. Lanier (Sr.)
was likely the son of Washington Lanier and Elizabeth Hicks. George
and Jane Lanier and their children went from Overton County to
Andrew County, Missouri after 1840 where George died in 1854.

CARPENTER-SHOOK-SEARS. Benjamin CARPENTER, b. abt 1785, d. possibly
before 1820 in an accident while engaged in boating on the Mississippi
River. His family may have been living in Indiana at the time.
He supposedly signed a "Petition from the Inhabitants of
Overton County, Tennessee to the Tennessee General Assembly"
on 6 Oct 1815. About 1810/1812 he married Melia (Melea, Milly)
SHOOK, b. abt 1787, d. after 1850. She may have been daughter
of William SHOOK and Catherine SEARS of Bedford Co., TN. After
Benjamin's death, Melia lived in Bedford Co in 1820, then moved
to Jefferson Co., IL in 1830. There is a Milly CARPENTER, with
family, living in Bedford Co. in 1820 census but age doesn't agree
with later IL censuses. Is this Melia SHOOK? There is a Benjamin
CARPENTER, with family, in Overton Co. in 1820 census. Is there
a connection between them? Need any information on these CARPENTERS,
SHOOKS, and SEARS. I will share what I have.

I have a history book from Cincinnati, Ark. that show my gggandfather
being born in Overton Co. Tenn.. DOB 3/2/1800 in Overton co, Tenn.,
DOD 11/2/1887 in Ark. These dates are in agreement with family
records and I would like to find out who James SMITH's father
was or any earlier information. James SMITH married a woman named
Rebbecca ODLE or ODEL according to this history book. This does
not exactly agree with family records as they list her as Rebbecca
Odel HARRELL. Rebbecca's DOB is listed as 2/12/1803 The marriage
date is 4/22/1822 The book also lists her parents as being Jeremiah
and Margaret ODLE or ODEL. I would like to find out if there is
records of a Rebbecca Odel marrying a James SMITH on that date..
or if anyone could clear up this slight mystery for me...that
she was an ODEL, or a HARRELL?? Thank you
