I would like information on the NELSON family in Overton County, Tennessee. My ancestor, William Jasper NELSON was born in Overton County on May 1, 1827. On June 15, 1843, he married Rebecca McGUFFEY She was born January 22, 1827, in Overton County. I don't know her parents. I think Jasper.'s father was Robert NELSON. Children of Rebecca and Jasper NELSON were Robert, Mary M., John T., Margaret M., George W., Sarah Jane, Nancy E., Louisa, and Perlina Josephine, all born in Overton County. The family left Overton County in the last part of the 1870's. I have the family Bible for birth dates,

CARMACK posted by Dale CARMACK on Saturday, August 23, 1997

I have found a listing for Jesse CARMACK in both the 1830 & 1840 Bledsoe Co. census. I am trying to find additional information such as his middle name, his wife and family names and also to link him to Jesse Carmack from Overton Co. TN (born 1769, died 1834 in Overton Co). I believ he moved to Washington Co, TX and bought land there in 1851. Any help in locating his family names, link to Jesse Carmack in Overton Co, or land records would be greatly appreciated.

Researching WILSON's, ELMORE's, PRICE's, HOWARD's, MILLER's, BILBREY's, HAYs, BEATY's, HALL's, SWALLOWS, and STEPHENS of Fentress, Overton, Cumberland, and Morgan counties. Who was Joseph Wilson's (1788-1856) first wife? Joseph had at least the following children: Neomy Oma, Moses, and Asberry. Joseph's 2nd wife was Fanny. They had the following children: Elizabeth, Nancy, Sarah, Lewis, Edward and William. I believe Joseph, Robert and John, Jr, were the sons of John wilson of Kentucky.

BILBREY, CARLOCK, JACKSON, LEDBETTER, MEANS, SUTTON posted by Birt FRASER on Saturday, August 30, 1997

Researching the Jackson, MEANS, and CARLOCK families that resided in Overton Co, TN in the late 1700's and early 1800's. I am specifically researching David and Jane JACKSON. David was born in 1793 and Jane in 1801. They were married in 1818. Children were Winney, Susannah, Dolenson, Josiah, John, Sarah, and Thomas. The LEDBETTER and BILBREY families seemed to have married into this family with several of the children. I am in need of information of David's parents and of Jane's maiden name. Some believe her maiden name may have been SUTTON ....but there is no data to support this at this time. David died in 1848 and Jane in 1860. Any and all assistance and information will be greatly appreciated!

DAVIS, LOVELADY, WOOD posted by Wilma MOORE on Saturday, August 30, 1997

LOVELADY-Seek information on descendants of Jesse LOVELADY of Jackson and Overton Counties, who was the son of Marshall and Hannah LOVELADY of Jefferson Co., where Marshall's will was proven in January 1793. Jesse LOVELADY removed from East Tennessee to Jackson Co. by 1802, when he appeared on a tax list. Then by 1810, he was in Overton Co., where he bought from Nathan WOOD (of White Co.) 100 acres on the north side of Spring Creek, formerly called west ford [fork?] of Roaring River, with a mention of LOVELADY'S Spring Branch, near William DAVIS' Spring Branch. The land was registered in Overton Co. on 6 March 1810. Then on 12 June 1810,in Overton Co., Jesse LOVELADY signed an affidavit, saying he was a legal heir of Marshall LOVELADY. Was Polly LOVELADY, listed on the 1836 Overton Co. tax list, the widow of Jesse? I am searching for names of Jesse's wife, children, and other descendants. If anyone sees connecting information to another family, please contact me. I need help on this family. Thanks.
