Researching William C. MORRIS, Jr., born 1810 Overton Co., TN.  Married (?) (poss. Rebecca).  Wife died ca. 1842.  Children were Green J., b. 1826; James S., b. 1829; Delila, b. 1831; Pleasant, b. 1833; Learen, b. 1838, and Louisa, B. 8/15/1840.  He moved to Carroll County, Arkansas by 1845 where he married Asenith FANCHER, daughter of James P. and Elizabeth CARLOCK FANCHER also of Overton County and also moved to Carroll County, Arkansas about the same time.  Wm. and Asenith had five children.  When daughter Louisa married, her husband was granted permission by the Cherokee Nation (in 1870) as a white man to marry a "Cherokee female". I'd like more information about Wm. MORRIS' life in Overton County, especially about his first wife and obviously their ancestors.  I also have quite a bit of information about the FANCHER family although they aren't of my husband's direct line.  Thanks!

Searching for LYON family: Edmond and Elizabeth Cheatwood Dennis Lyon are in Overton Co, TN, by the 1830 Census, although I suspect they had been there for many years prior to that time.  There are four known children, of whom James M. LYON, b. c. 1823, moves to Logan County, KY, with his family by the 1870 Census.  I suspect Edmond and Elizabeth LYON both die around 1860, but I have no idea of where they would have been buried. Elizabeth's DENNIS children from her first marriage may also be in the area, and I would love to hear from their descendents. Looking for family of Napoleon SIMMONS (b.1853 Overton Co. Tn.- d.1935 White Co. Tn.) - m. 1873 Marindy RICE in Overton. Moved White Co. after marriage. Children: Mary Ann - m. James McCANN, Dennis w. - m. Lena Josephine HOBBS, Robert Lee - m. Martha HIGDON, William Albert - m. - Mary RITTENBERRY, James Landon - m. Lora BENNETT, Jane Florence - m. Joe McCANN, Norman Edcere - m. Lassie SMITH, Dock Ondes - m. Mattie Jane PALMER, Samuel.  Napoleon (Pole) SIMMONS lived at Pass Cove just north of Bon Aire and DeRossett.  He and his wife are buried at Smith Chappel in Cumberland County, just east of White Co. line on US70

HAWKINS -Alvin, Dillard, and Chester. Alvin was from Hilham. He had a son Dillard and one of Dillards sons was Chester. Dillard was married to Minnie Eudora Matsel July 26 1891 Dillard died in 1940 in Stoddard Co. Mo. They had 7 children Dona, Stella, Vader, Chester, Charles, Dollie, and Lula. Chester was married to Vivian COOPER. Chester was born 2-10-1899 I am searching for any information available on the Hawkins family and also the Cooper Family. Vivians birth certificate reads Eva Vivian Valara Cooper, parents, James and Virginia Cooper. Please help if you can. Any info will help. Thanks

Researching the families of Rev. War Soldier John COPELAND and Henry and Dorcas Copeland LEE.  Dorcas Copeland and Henry Lee married 1808 Overton Co., Tn. and later moved to Wayne Co., Tn. and live nearby and associate with the John Copeland family.  It is thought that she was the daughter of Rev. War Soldier John Copeland. Other children may be: William, John, Richard, Willis, Cornelius, and??.  In the Pension Record of John Copeland he states that he lived in Jefferson Co, Tn., Knox Co, Tn,, Overton Co, Tn., Bedford Co, Tn., and then Wayne Co, Tn. Henry and Dorcas Lee may have traveled with the Copeland family.  Any contacts and information on the Lee and Copeland families will be appreciated.  I will exchange info. with other family researchers.

Seeking information on Joel HINDS (b) 1792 (m) Nina MULLINEX (b) ca. 1805.  Joel lived in the Fentress, Pickett Co. area (at that time-Overton Co.). Their children were:  Polly, Semion, Joel D., Nina Jane , Eli/Ely, and Perry.  Need info. on Joel's father and mother.  He may have been the son of either John HINDS or Joseph HINDS, who were in Knox Co., TN in the 1790's and died there in 1811-1812.  Will gladly exchange info.  Sam B. Blain R. DAVIDSON, son of Francis Davidson, married Judith French in Overton county in abt. 1836.  I know about several of his children, but am interested in the others, namely, Benjamin F. who married  Mary E. ?, Martha, Lean, Eliza A. who married a CLARK, Pearson and Lucinda who married a DAVIS.  Does anyone know more about these folks?

I am looking for information on Easter PHILLIPS.  She was born 1813 in GA married Stephen C. Need information on any PRYORS and DIALS living in Overton Co., TN in the 1800's and later.  James PRYOR married Nancy ?.  They had children one of them being William H. PRYOR who married Ruth DIAL.  They (William and Ruth) are buried in the Fellowship Cemetery in Overton Co..  They had Robert Milton PRYOR b. 1868 and he married Martha Jane REAGAN daughter of John REAGAN and Margaret GARRETT.  Robert and Martha's son Charlie Ether PRYOR is my father. Need help searching for JOHN HARPER (51)listed on the 1860 Overton Co. TN federal census.  He is listed with his wife ELIZABETH (Campbell) (51), Elijah (ll)>Thomas (8)>Sarah (6) > Alvin (2) and Calvin (13).  There is also a SIDWELL family listed with this family.  WILLIAM SIDWELL, with wife Anna (28), Sara J. (9)> Andrew (5) > and George A. (2).  It is said that Sarah Harper married a Sidwell while in TN, and they later moved to Mead/Hardin Co. KY where she died.  Her husband and two daughters are said to have returned to TN.  Any help is appriciated, I am at a dead end.  Will share Harper material.   Carmelia Ann Harper Slaughter

I am trying to find information on my GGGrandfather Isaac ROAM (also sometimes spelled ROME)2nd appears to be Elizabeth Ward.  They had a son Henry Overton ROAM (ROME) who married Rhoda STRAIN.  One of Henry and Rhoda's sons, William Overton ROAM married Kathryn "Katie" BOOHER in 1874. I am also looking for information on my ggrandfather James ROAM (ROME) who married 2nd Mary and was Isaac's son by a first marriage  . I am trying to find the names of Isaac and James 1st wives and children.  One son by James's 1st wife was John ROAM (ROME) my grandfather, who was born abt 1839 in KY. but I think, grew up in TN with James and his second family.  I am also looking for a first marriage and family on John ROAM (ROME). TN census, John (Jack) LANGFORD, b. 1788, SC, d. 6 July, 1860, and his wife, Mary (Polly) CRANE LANGFORD, b. 1800 SC, d. 18 Oct. 1880, and their children are listed,- Tinety, Susannah, Malinda, Champlain, Charles who married Amanda PHILLIPS ( b. 2828-32 TN, d. 5 Apr. 1893, Overton Co. TN), Mary, Rachael, and Stephen.  Amanda PHILLIPS was the dtr. of Thomas and Elizabeth PHILLIPS. I need to get in touch with someone who is researching these surnames.   Jeanne

Napoleon SIMMONS (1853-1935), son of Dennis Simmons, m. Marindy B. RICE 1873 in Overton Co., Tenn.  Moved to White Co., Tenn. by 1800.  They lived in Pass Cove, about 5 miles north of Bon Aire, then moved to Doe Creek.  Their children were: (1) Mary Ann Eliz. COPELAND, JACKSON, THATCHER/WARD, NETTLE CARRIER (Cherokee) Joseph "Big Joe" COPELAND (b. @1780 NC, d. 1857 Overton, TN) was the son of Stephen Calvin Copeland (b. 1756 NC, d. 1833 Overton, TN). Big Joe COPELAND married Hannah Thatcher Ward (b. @17890, d. 1869 Overton, TN) who was full blood Cherokee, rumored to be the daughter of Chief Nettle Carrier. Their son,  Jefferson Madison COPELAND (b. 1812 Overton, TN, d. 1867 TX) married his cousin Mary COPELAND (b. 1814 Overton, TN, d. 1907 TX). Their son, Jasper Newton COPELAND (b. 1834 Overton, TN, d. 1867, TX) married Selina [Sarah] Fisk JACKSON (b. 1830 TN, d. TX). Selina/Sarah was the daughter of George JACKSON (b. 1792) and Margaret [LNU - possibly FISK]. Around 1859, the Jefferson Madison COPELAND and Jasper Newton COPELAND families moved from Overton,TN to Williamson County, Texas. They are not found on the census in either county in 1860, perhaps they were in route. Would like to share info.

My grandpa, Henry Wilson "Willis" DUNCAN 1865 Anderson Co. TN died 1912 Overton TN. m. first: Thursey "Bell" NORRIS.  Have been unable to find out anything about her siblings/parents.  Bell was older than Willis b.@1862.  They m. 1884 and had 6 children.  These children were on census with second wife in 1910, so Bell prob. died about 1903 prob. Overton. Can anyone furnish help?
