- Looking for William SMITH b. 1777 MD, d. 1851 where? He m.
Nancy SPEER 8 Oct 1800 Surry Co, NC. In 1805 William and Nancy
went to Cumberland Co, KY. On 18 Oct 1826 Benjamin SPEER, William's
father-in-law, bought 75 in Overton Co, TN for William SMITH,
but not recorded until 1840. On 8 Jan 1826 John SMITH, Wm's brother,
bought 300 acres from William on the north side of Obey River.
Did William & Nancy leave Overton Co in 1826?. Anyone who might
have any clues re these SMITHS, please contact me. Have been
searching for them forever!! Thanks.

- Seek information on George MATTHEWS family living in Overton,
Fentress, and Pickett county areas of TN from 1880's until early
1900's. Believe his wife, Mary Elizabeth Gauney may be part Indian.
Need any info you have. Willing to exchange information. Also
looking into SMITH line with Jonathan Lune SMITH who married
Hester Jane SCARBOROUGH/SCARBROUGH. He comes from same line with
Isaac Denton SMITH. Need info on flood in Static TN area in early
1900's .

- Researching my husband's family who originally came from
Fentress, Overton, and Pickett county area. Need information
on George Washington MATTHEWS who married Mary Elizabeth GAUNEY.
Believe he died around 1903 or 1904 in flood near Static, TN.
Can anyone help me with this line. They had 6 children. Several
of the children moved eventually to IL and IN. Also working on
Jonathan Lune SMITH/Isaac Denton SMITH line which goes back to
a George SMITH (Revolutionary was soldier). Also working on Allen

married Leeann METHENEY(b.1849) first son was: James Martin Phillips
b.1873 (in Overton Co.) We are looking for Joseph Phillips' father.

They were in Jefferson Co. TN in early 1800's then to Marion
Co. TN. Two of Henry's dau. married EASTERLY men: Susannah EALY
m. Jonathan EASTERLY in Greene Co. TN in 1814. Elizabeth EALY
m. Conrad EASTERLY in Jefferson Co. TN in 1802. Were the Ailey/EALY's

- ALEXANDER BARR married STELLA F. WHITTAKER on July 31st 1920
in Washington county, Johnson city TN. Children are Alex (Bud)
jr. Margaret, Helen, Harry, Nanny and Gennie or Jenny, Stella's
Father name was DICK WHITTAKER (RICHARD?) Stella died in 1965
in Michigan, Stella and her children came to Michigan in the
late 1940's. Alexander Barr sr. was last known to be living in
Florida where it is believed he died in the 1990's, anyone with

- Looking for information on John Henry WILLIS St. came from
Overton County, Tennessee. He was born August 29 1826 and died
in Kentucky August 14, 1904. Family history has it that the Willis'
came with a herd of sheep from Tennessee to Kentucky. His wife's
name is Jane Ruth ? . she was born believed October 15, 1826
and died November 8, 1922. They had eight children: W.C. "Charlie",
Burel, Jane, John Henry (My ggg grandfather)Jr., James, Phillip,
Joseph, and George.

- Hello, I am looking for the parents of DAVID MC LINN JOHNSON
who was born in Overton County, Tenneesee on June 19, 1811 and
died in Johnson County, Arkansas on May 21, 1872. The first of
his three wives is believed to be Elvira G. LEE who was born
about 1810 in Overton County, Tenneesee. I am a decendant of
his second wife, REBECCA ROSE. His third wife was MARTHA JANE
(LEWIS) BRANTLEY. I would be very thankful for any information
available.
