- MCDONNOLD posted by T.L. JENNINGS on Thursday, September

- In Overton County in the 1830's several members of the MCDONNOLD
family were living there. I would appreciate hearing from anyone
that may have information on this family. It is my belief that
members of the family went to SC and then to GA settling in the
Atlanta area before the Civil War. Have info on the GA group
and will share.

- Hello everyone! On the early Overton Marriages page, I found
a listing for Elizabeth ADAMS m. Enoch GREEN 1831 with the mention
that this came from a Bible. I am descended from Elizabeth's
brother, Tarlton and would dearly love to get in touch with whomever
contributed that information or anyone working on this family.
I have some information on Elizabeth's ancestors to share as
well that is fairly recently discovered. Thanks!

- My great grandfather's name was Harwell Mahue SMITH. He was
born in Overton Co. - joined Union Army when he was 14 and served
as an aide to his cousin - Colonel Buck Hull, who was Cordell
Hull's father. I don't know the year of his birth but it must
have been 1845 - 1855. His father died when he was young and
he had been farmed out to landowners to work on farms because
his mother couldn't support him and the other children. His mother's
sister was Buck Hull's first cousin. My brother tells me that
our great grandfather Harwell said this aunt's house was a stop
on the underground railroad. I would like to find out the names
of other family members. Harwell Smith became a Church of Christ
minister in Morgan County after the Civil War.
