He died of yellow fever when my grandmother, Stella, was about 4 years old. My gr-grandfather, Nelson Morgan STINNETT stated in his diary that he 'returned to the old homeplace after the war was over to find a broken-hearted father and two brothers.' No 298 EARLEY, JENKINS: My great-grandmother, Josephine SMITH came to Polk County from Springplace, Murray Co., GA and worked for a Doctor Prince at Parksville. She married a JENKINS from NC, but I have found no records of this. Her daughter Cora, b. 1885-9 married Francis EARLEY, Sr. on November 7, 1915; they are in the 1920 Fannin County GA census with children George W., Nellie E., Woodrow and stepdaughter, Mae JENKINS. Later siblings were Albert Jackson, Margaret and William. All except Mae were placed in an orphanage in August 1926 since Francis had died and Cora was in poor health and unable to care for them.. No 303 GEE: Need proof of the connection between my Eason GEE of Pendleton District SC and John Henry GEE of Polk County. Eason died 1794 leaving wife Abigail DAVIS GEE and 4 small children: Jeremiah, Joannah, John and Samuel. Abigail remarried in 1808 to William BENNETT.
