Hester “Nana” Elizabeth Cox Bean of Ringgold died Friday, Dec. 9, at her residence. She was 75. A native of Palmer, Tenn., she had resided in the Ringgold area for the past 20 years and was of the Protestant faith. She was preceded in death by her father, William Cox; sister, Gracie Lee Layne. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Clyde “Papa” Bean of Ringgold; mother, Annie Bell Shrum Cox of Sequatchie, Tenn.; two children, Ernest Bean of Decatur, Ala., Patricia Holland of Hixson, Tenn.; one sister, Ruth Mathis of Ringgold; one brother, Paul Cox of Sequatchie; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; special niece, Alycia Johnson of Athens, Tenn.; several other nieces and nephews. Services: Sunday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery with pastor Erik Christensen officiating. Visitation: Sunday from 1-2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Home, Ringgold.

William “Bill” Bowman

WALKER COUNTY MESSENGER Aug. 2, 2005

 

William “Bill” Bowman of Chickamauga died Sunday, July 31. He was 74. He was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., to the late Clyde and Pauline Bowman. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Corely Manufacturing, where he was a welder for 35 years. He was of the Protestant faith and a member of the D.A.V. He was preceded in death by his nephew, Larry Randall Crook. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Bowman; daughters, Terri Johnston and Trisha Bowman, both of Chickamauga; grandson, Jeremy Johnston; great-granddaughter, Ariana; sister, Mary Crook of Dunlap, Tenn.; nephews, Gary Lomenick and Tony Crook. Services: Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 2 p.m., at Chattanooga Veterans National Cemetery. Online register book at www.wilsonfuneralhome.com. Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Home, Chickamauga.

Alma Jean Burnette

WALKER COUNTY MESSENGER Sept. 15, 2004

 

Alma Jean Burnette of East Ridge, Tenn., died Monday, Sept. 13, in a local health care facility. She was 72. A native of Sequatchie County, Tenn., she had lived in the East Ridge and Chattanooga area for most of her life. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Rossville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion H. Burnette; son, Timothy Burnette. Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, David and Terri Burnette, Richard L. Burnette, all of Dayton, Tenn.; grandson, Brian D. Burnette of Chattanooga, Tenn. Services: Thursday, Sept. 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with Chaplain John McCarty officiating. Visitation: Thursday, Sept. 16, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements by Lane Funeral Home, Rossville.
