Don Hale of Chickamauga died Tuesday, Jan. 10, at a local hospital. He was 68. He was born in Sequatchie County, Tenn., and lived most of his life in the Chattanooga and north Georgia area. He was a member of Noble Church of God and retired from Rossville Yarn with 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Hale; parents, Lester and Ruby Hale; brother, Roger Hale. Survivors include his children, Ron Hale of Smyrna, Tenn., Michael Hale of Georgetown, Tenn., Lisa York of Ringgold, Tonya Gatlin of Trenton; sisters, Shelva Smith of Hixson, Tenn., Carolyn Prater of Chickamauga; brother, Randall Hale of Rock Spring; 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. Services: Thursday, Jan. 12, at noon at the South Crest Chapel with Rev. Mark McGuire officiating. Burial: Lakewood Memory Gardens, South. Visitation: Wednesday, Jan. 11, from 4-8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home. Arrangements by Lane Funeral Home, Rossville.

HATFIELD-Funeral services for Absalom Riley Hatfield, 92, pioneer resident of Waldens Ridge (Summertown), who died Monday, will be held at 10:30 o'clock Wednesday morning at the funeral home of J. Avery Bryan Co., the Rev. A. Bruce Coyle officiating. Mr. Hatfield was the son of Franklin Miller and Malvina Jackson Hatfield. He was a member of the Signal Mountain Baptist Church. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Claudia Campbell Hatfield, Signal Mountain; four daughters, Mrs. Helen Cureton, LaFayette, GA, Mrs. Elizabeth Hembree, Orlando, FL, Mrs. Dorothy Masino, Philadelphia, PA, and Mrs. Myra Colby, Fallbrook, CA; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Interment in Chattanooga Memorial Park. Pallbearers:  Gordon Campbell, Arlie Hoodenpyle, Roy Gothard, Robert Goodman, Reece Vandergriff and Larry Gothard. The body is at the funeral home of J. Avery Bryan Co.

Abslom Riley Hatfield, Jr. 56, of Signal Mountain, TN, and Melbourne, FL, died in a local hospital Wednesday morning. Mr. Hatfield was a member of the Masonic fraternity. He is survived by one daughter, Miss Laura Hatfield, OHIO; four sons, Patrick, John, Thomas, and Riley Hatfield, OHIO; four sisters, Mrs. Harry Coley, Fallbrook, CA; Mrs M. K. Cureton, LaFayette, GA; Mrs. E. O. Hembrey, Eau Gallie, FL; and Mrs. Joseph Masins, Philadelphia, PA; a brother, Chester F. Hatfield, and father, A. R. Hatfield Sr., both of Chattonooga, TN. Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Friday morning at the graveside in Chattanooga Memorial Park. Rev, John Morrison officiating. The body is at the Funeral home of J. Avery Bryan Co. in Chattanooga.

Note: Son of Abslom Riley Hatfield, Sr. and Laura J. Miles. Believe to have been  married to Betty Mae Fredricks O'Neal and Joan Swanson, both divorced.

Mrs. Adelaide Hatfield

Mrs. Adelaide Hatfield, aged 48, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. F. McMinn, 1343 Hixson Pike, last night at 10:15 o'clock, floowing an illness of several weeks. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. McMinn and Miss Ruth Hatfield; a brother, George Bradfield, of Whitewell, and four sisters, Mrs. Susan Condra, of Whitwell; Mrs. Ida Dowlen and Miss Sarah Bradfield, of Hixson, and Mrs. A. Rogers, of Daisy. Mrs. Hatfield was a member of the Methodist church of Mobray. The body was removed to Wann's undertaking parlors and prepared for burial. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mabel Rudd Hatfield, Chattanooga; daughter, Mrs. Russell Harned, Louisville, Ky; father, Absalom Riley Hatfield, Signal Mountain; three sisters, Mrs. Helen Cureton, LaFayette, GA, Mrs. Elizabeth Hambee, Orlando, FL, and Mrs. Myra Colby, Fallbrook, CA; and two grandchildren, David and Nancy Harned. She was former resident of Chattanooga, a member of Red Bank Baptist Church and widow of Sam William Hatfield, Survivors included two daughters, Barbara Fisher, Suwanee, GA, Katherine Liveakos, Grayson, GA; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Chattanooga Memorial Park with Dr. Fred Steelman officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.

Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Mount Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Al Clark and the Rev. Hugh Burdett officiating. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements by Jones Funeral Home, Tunnel Hill.

Mrs. Claudia Hatfield, age 85, formerly of 14 E. Manning St., died Wednesday morning in a local nursing home. She was the widow of A. R. Hatfield and sister of the late, Mrs. E. C. (Una) Freudenberg. She lived most of her life in the Summertown Community of Signal Mountain, having moved from there in 1964. She was a member of Tremont Baptist Church. Surviving are three step-daughters, Mrs. Helen Cureton of LaFayette, GA, Mrs. Harry (Myra Jo) Colby of Fallbrook, CA, and Mrs. Joe (Dorothy) Masino of Philadelphia, PA; nephews, Charles Freudenberg, Jim Campbell, Andy Campbell, Max Campbell, Garnett Campbell, Billie Campbell and Chester Campbell, all of Chattanooga; and nieces, Mrs. Lillie Pitman of Knoxville, Mrs. Zula McDaniels of Harrison, and Mrs. Claire Goodwin of Chattanooga. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in the West Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, with Rev. John Andrus officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Garnett Campbell, Gary Campbell, Ronnie Campbell, Byron Campbell, David Goodwin, and W. A. (Tinsy) McDaniel. The body is at Chattanooga Funeral Home, West Chapel, 1724 McCallie Ave.

 

Note: She was the second wife of Absalom Riley Hatfield , Sr. and daughter of Ben L. and Zula Campbell.

Dortha Thompson Hatfield, 81, died Saturday, Jan 4, 2003, at a local hospital.
     She was a member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Hatfield; sister, Sally Griffin; brothers, George W. Thompson, Lewis E. Thompson and John W. Thompson.
     Survived by her daughter, Bridgett Hodges, Chattanooga; and brother, Fred Thompson.
     Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. today, Jan 7, 2003, at Hamilton Memorial gardens.
     In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NHC Healthcare Activities Department, 2700 Parkwood Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37404.

Esquire F. M. Hatfield

Esquire F. M. Hatfield died Sunday night near Calhoun, GA. His remains were brought here yesterday for interment in Fairmount Cemetery, which will take place at 2 o'clock this afternoon. He was in the 67th year of his age and survived his wife and several children. 

He went to Florida on the first of February last and on his return went to the home of his daughter, where he died. He was a member of the county court and was a lieutenant in Capt. Stewart's company, recruited at Dunlap. He served through the war and was a member of N. B. Forrest Camp U. C. V. He was also a member of the Masonic lodge of Dunlap and a member of the Missionary Baptist church, being a consistent Christian gentleman.

The following gentleman from N. B. Forrest Camp have been requested to act as pall bearers: S. J. A. Frazier  and O. S. Green.

Note:  Son of James W. Hatfield and Olly Lawson, husband of Malvina Jackson.

The Headstone clearly states April 4, 1904 but the Obit clearly states he went to Florida Feb 1 then to daughters and died. The paper is dated Feb 16, 1904.

2/26/15 - Mrs Sarah E Hatfield - Dunlap, TN, Feb 25 - Mrs Sarah E Hatfield, 77 years of age, died at the residence of her daughter. She is survived by one son, one daughter and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held by the Rev. Holder, of Bridgeport, AL and the body was interred by the side of her husband, a confederate soldier, in the family graveyard.

HENRY HATFIELD, 70, died at his home near Dunlap, TN, Monday night. Mr. Hatfield was a lifelong resident of Sequatchie County and had lived with his wife, the former Mollie Chote, on his farm near Dunlap for the past 33 yrs. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Dunlap and was well known throughout the county and sincerely loved by everyone. He is survived by his wife; one son, Lonas Hatfield; two sisters, Miss Nona Hatfield and Miss Jennie Hatfield; two brothers, Floyd and Lee Hatfield, all of Dunlap; several neices and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon from the home, conducted by the Rev. L. L. Riddle, pastor of St. John Methodist Church of Chattanooga. Burial will be in Rankin Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Putman-Standefer Funeral Home, Dunlap.

MISS JENNIE HATFIELD, age 75, died in a Dunlap, Tenn Hosptial early Tuesday morning. She was a retired Sequatchie County school teacher.  She is survived by one brother, Floyd Hatfield; one sister, Miss Nona Hatfield, both of Dunlap; two nephews, Lonas Hatfield of Dunlap and Levon Hatfield of Birmingham, AL; one niece, Mrs. Reba Harris of Virgina. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 pm (CST) from the home conducted by the Revs. W. H. Hormer and L. L. Riddle.  Pallbearers are Grady Cain, Jim Richardson, Lonas Hatfield, Levon Hatfield, Jack Dangler, and Kelly Lamb. The body is at the home near Dunlap. Arrangements by Putnam-Standefer Funeral Home, Dunlap.

She was daughter of William 'Billie' Anderson Hatfield and Rhoda T. English.

LOANES E. HATFIELD, Dunlap, TN, 68, died Saturday at his home here. Mr. Hatfield, a World War II Veteran, was a member of Dunlap United Methodist Church, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving are an aunt, Miss Nona Hatfield and an uncle, Floyd J. Hatfield, both of Dunlap.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm (CST) today at Dunlap United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Brent Hall will officiate. Interment will be in Rankin Cemetery.

The body is a Putnam-Standefer Funeral Home here but will be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes before the service.

Pallbearers will be W. L. Hatfield, Raymond Choate, Burl Choate, Delmas Choate, F. H. Bacon and Hubert Lee. The body is at Putnam-Standefer Funeral Home, Dunlap.

Ruby Ellen Hixon of Fort Oglethorpe died Saturday, Jan. 21, at a hospital. She was 84. She was born in Dunlap, Tenn., to the late William and Nancy Owensby Smith. She was a member of Calvary Memorial Baptist Church in Fort Oglethorpe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hixon; sister, Lillian Barlew; brothers, Floyd, Walter, Frank and Ray Smith. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Don Angel of Weaverville, N.C.; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Terry Hickey of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Randy and Carroll Hixon of Fort Oglethorpe; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews. Services: Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Michael Thomas officiating. Burial: Lakewood Memorial Gardens South. Visitation: Monday, Jan. 23, after 5 p.m. and prior to the service Tuesday.                 Spencer resident and Hahira, Ga., native Charleen Moore
Hobbs, 48, was born March 11, 1957 and died Jan. 14 at White County
Community Hospital following a sudden illness.  An employee of Magnetek and
the daughter of the late Charlie and Robbie Coleman Moore, she was married
to Danny Ray Hobbs of McMinnville.  In addition to her husband, she is
survived by two daughters, Rebecca Shadrick of Spencer and Jenny Carter of
McMinnville; one grandchild and sister, Beverly Reed of Georgia.  Funeral
service will be held at 11 a.m. today at High's Chapel with Lane Dix
officiating. Burial will follow at Cordell Cemetery in Dunlap. Online

He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Sue Higgins; two sisters, Ruth French and Odell Holloway of Whitwell, TN. Funeral services will be 2 pm (CDT) Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, in the chapel of Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Brad Bryant and the Rev. Clayton Privett officiating. Interment will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3-10 pm (CDT) today, Aug. 5, 2003.
