WALKER COUNTY MESSENGER March 2, 2006
Orion “Rich” Richardson of Fort Oglethorpe died Tuesday, Feb. 28, at a local hospital. He was a lifelong resident of north Georgia and a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Oglethorpe. He was proud of his military service, having been awarded many medals. He was a loving and caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid golfer who encountered friends wherever he went. He was a valued salesman for Rone-Regency Jewelers for more than 40 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Molly Childress Richardson. Survivors include son and wife, David and Joan Richardson of Gallatin, Tenn.; daughter and husband, Susan and Lewis Addison of Chattanooga, Tenn.; brother, William “Bill” Richardson of Dunlap, Tenn.; sister, Bertie Rhae Carroll of Wildwood; grandchildren, David O. Richardson Jr., Angela H. Richardson of Gallatin, Matthew Addison, Zachary Addison, Victoria Addison of Chattanooga, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Sawyer Shrum, Alexandra Richardson and Jacob Richardson of Gallatin. Services: Friday, March 3, at noon at the funeral home chapel with Dr. John Wyatt officiating. Burial: National Cemetery. Visitation: Thursday, March 2, from 5-8 p.m., and Friday from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Heritage Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 519 E. 4th St., Chattanooga, Tenn., 37403. Condolences may be sent at www.heritagefh.com. Ed Rogers of Rossville died Monday, Jan. 24, 2005. He was 68. He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and north Georgia and was a Baptist. He was the owner and operator of Ed’s Butcher Block in Rossville for more than 28 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, A.F. and Ruth Rogers Sr.; brother, A.F. “Red” Rogers Jr. Survivors include his wife of more than 44 years, Pat Rogers; son, Charles “Butch” Rogers of Jr. of Rossville; daughter, Debbie Babcock of Fort Oglethorpe; sisters, Shirley Hatfield of Hixson, Tenn., JoAnn Thomas of Whitwell, Tenn., Betty Nye of Ringgold; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Services: Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m. in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel of Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Dean officiating. Burial: Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. Visitation: Tuesday, Jan. 25, after 5 p.m. and prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 519 E.
